  1. I was playing Bridgestone B RX and one round was it pretty much. I switched to the Maxfli Tour and those things are indestructible as far as a quality ball goes ; 36 easy.
  2. I had the same issue too. I added the blue tees and only the white showed up on the X5. I agree that the X5 shows the yardage from where you actually hit. I was waiting for my sync issue to be resolved before I looked into the effect. My theory was that the other tees would play into the performance analysis but I didn't dive that far into the SS app.
  3. Not sure if this is the right place, I’m fairly new at this, but I wanted to give ShotScope customer service 10 stars. I got an X5 on March 18, which performed flawlessly as a GPS device out on the course and the scoring was easy to enter/verify and shot/putt tracking seemed to work fine. However, I had major problems with the device syncing so I could see and analyze my performance stats. Lee in customer service worked with me for about a week via email (they’re in Scotland time difference). We tried everything possible. I sent iphone screen videos for him to look at so he could see what was actually happening. He took the time to review and offer fixes. So it appears there is a problem with the watch Bluetooth connectivity. ShotScope made the return/replace process a breeze and even refunded the return shipping within an hour of me sending it from the post office. They surely stepped up to back their product and I would highly recommend ShotScope for this reason alone. When comparing products I went with the ShotScope over Arrcos because of the no subscription. Can’t wait to get the replacement.
  4. $250 that's the max! It's the artist not the paint brush.
  5. All of it. Lol. Bushnell V5 slope , Phantom 2, Wingman & Alphard electric push cart. I need a watch or may use the Grint or GHIN app on my Apple Watch. I like to know distance to hazards so the GPS is necessary and laser to the pin because my depth perception isn't the best.
  6. Thought I would get this out there to see if others feel the same or not. Of all the rules that I think is the most unfair and inconsistent is not being able to take relief from a fairway divot. It is a man made alteration to the course that is not the fault of the golfer. You hit a great drive and then get penalized by being in a hole. You can tamp down spike marks, fix ball marks, move loose impediments, get relief from sprinkler heads, imbedded ball, etc., so why not have a rule to drop within a foot of the divot. - (I’ll save footprints in bunkers for another day)
  7. Been playing for 30 years or so. Handicap started at 22 and got as low as 8, now back up to 11. I enjoy all aspects of the game and especially now that technology has made indoor practice viable. I'm a tinkerer and love to do my own equipment work. Home course is now Brookside CC in Allentown PA. Nickname, too many to count over the years. lol.
  8. Played Bridgestone B RX for years. The Maxfli Tour popped up on MGS and Ballnamic results so I tried them last year. The Maxfli is indestructible. After 18 holes it looks like it did on the 1st tee. It's a quality ball and on the MGS tests it showed consistency in manufacturing quality. Whereas the Bridgestone was inconsistent. Although the Maxfli may be a yard or two shorter, the consistency coupled with the price ($25dz on bulk sale) makes it a no brainer for me. My new gamer.
  9. Time for a fitting! With the cost of these things you cannot buy off the rack as the tech is so precise for each individual
  10. I would prefer a freeze to the current standard. Much of the difference now, especially at the "tour ball" level is spin rate. Everyone is talking PGA, but this is a USGA rule that affects the amateur. Also, what if LIV doesn't conform? Will there be two sets of pro equipment? Another option on the tour is to reduce the par on certain courses from 72 to 70 making par 5s into long 4s; make fairways tighter, grow rough higher for tournaments.
  11. Get it on the green. When you miss the green and have a difficult chip don't try to make the hero shot just get it on the green.
  12. I joined a club because. 1) tired of 5 hour rounds Now I play in 3 1/2 and have the rest of my day 2) convenience / availability of scheduling tee times 3) members tend to take care of the course & golf etiquette 4) cost... you can never justify the total cost as $$ per round. But, you only go around once in this life.
  13. I received an email from Dick's to pre-order it. $399.00. I don't need a putter so I deleted it or I would have attached the link.
  14. Mild soap and warm water. I don't use any scrub pads. Just dry with a towel. All you're trying to do is get skin oil off.
  15. Bridgestone B X in warm (60F+) and Bridgestone B RX in colder (60F-) mostly for feel as both balls are relatively close in distance for me.
  16. I warm up by hitting 1 wedge (sw, gap or p) , 1 higher iron (7,8,or 9) and 1 fairway (7or5) no driver. About 20 25 balls. That's it. I rotate the above clubs to save the grips mostly.
  17. Usually 18 holes, if it’s good shape I’ll keep in the bag and use it if I lose a ball late in a subsequent round to finish out.
  18. For driver definitely indoors because you can use gamer balls and know distances. However, I like to fit my irons outside so I can see targets. 6 or 7 iron I can track to the 150 target flag and actually see it.
  19. I've been playing a 7 wood for 30 years. Actually the same club - an Orlimar Tri-metal 21• with a Aldila R shaft. I can hit it 170-185 and it is my go to under pressure. Higher ball flight than a hybrid. Just ordered a Cobra LDx 7 W to try. Buy something pre owned or on close out to try out.
  20. I was using the USGA GHIN App for handicapping and GPS. The free version will suffice for most - $39.99 for it to work with Apple Watch. I also got a Bushnell Wingman for xmas and I have been testing the Bushnell app, which works pretty neat too.
  21. Thanks Greg, I was unaware of this tool. I put in my data and got 5 results - the PRO V1 not being one of them. Interestingly the Bryson (Bridgestone B X) ball was the best match with 95.4%. My current ball Bridgestone B RX, although only an 85.6% match (5th Place) was within a 1yd +/- on driver and 7 iron carry. Most of the value change was wedge spin around the green data. The other balls, although a better match than my B RX - again by green side data - did not give the same distance off the tee and 7 iron carry. I guess this comes down to personal preference as to what you find most important to your game. All said, it is a neat tool that will save you time by narrowing down choices for the cost of a box of balls. And, in my case saving me some bucks by not purchasing Pro V's.
  22. Thank you all for your input - much appreciated. Let the testing begin!
  23. My swing speed for the driver is around 100 +/- I have been playing Bridgestone B RX for several years and like the ball. After reading the MGS ball ratings I decided to try a Pro V1, which I used to play when I was younger. The Titleist web site info says that the slower swing speed mumbo is just that. Tho. the ball felt much harder off the driver as compared to the irons. Not sure if I lost any distance, as I was able to get out for a round in February when we had a nice windy day in the 60's here in NE PA. I would love to know what others think? Since I am a tinkerer always looking for something.
  24. Just watched the LIV interesting format with team event. Party atmosphere. Wonder if it will survive. Golf wasn't the best, but I say give it a chance. It's great for the golfers to only have to play 8 events and have a home life. Especially for the about to me senior guys, no way they would make this money on the Champions tour.
