  1. RIP to this gentleman. But besides the loop, he actually comes down on the ball very steeply.Opposite of a Matt Wolfe move.
  2. Feel free to post the most unusual. But effective swings you find during your social media searches. And maybe mention how you think they get it to work for them
  3. I was going to add that back in the 90’s. Was invited to a 2 man match play event. The first round we played the winners and were beaten 8 up.We got slaughtered. Our opponents were a dad and son team. The son held the whole team and was striking the ball exquisitely. So instead of cheering against I was just observing what he was doing better than me.Even asked him after the round about his swing and he confirmed what I saw.So yes we got stomped, and no I didn’t cheer against. But can say I learned a tip or two by watching his masterful play
  4. Question for the group as it is something I have been thinking about. If you are playing match play and are competing, are you rooting for or against your opponent, shot by shot? Meaning as they tee off, do you hope they find bunkers, etc. There is no right or wrong answer, but was genuinely curious as it came up recently.
  5. This method was an eye opener for me.When the videos first started coming out it was a small following. Now he has really grown In just a few weeks. It truly proved to me how so many of us will try anything to just improve slightly. And it just isn’t a small margin that will try anything either. Its a vast majority of golfers.Heck, I’ve even seen tour pros try the funkiest putting strokes to just improve a stroke or two.Its such a hard game
  6. this is something for sure.Cant remember if it was Monte or someone else. But they said they like the idea
  7. “The golf swing is maybe the most un natural feeling motion I’ve ever done athletically. If it feels natural. I can assure you I’m doing it wrong” Bing Crosby “its like the bizarro world in super man” anonymous hacker “if you do opposite of what you always done in your swing. You will have made the perfect swing” Ben Hogan “Why did I even take up this game” 90% of handicap golfers be honest with yourself and the instructor. If your a weekend warrior don’t expect a miracle.Tell the instructor how much time you have available to make the changes.Any instructor should be able to accommodate you
  8. I’m not sure I even want to tackle this.I found it on YouTube and thought it was pretty interesting stuff.

  10. Great conversation here. And as a side note.My good friend is still diagnosing the Ernest Jones handkerchief drill.Over analyzing is what makes him tick.
  11. All excellent responses as usual here. And agree about knowing Monte or GG well enough to critique. Here is a story adding to this. One of my old golfing buddies who is 83 now and can only chip and putt.He was a decent golfer in his prime with a background in engineering and physics.I sent him some golf books this winter keeping his mind occupied after a life saving surgery. The books were Jim Hardy,Ernest Jones,Gerry Hogan and a few others I can’t remember.Anyways he dived into them with a curious mind as usual.Every section of those books he would call me with a rebuttal.Foe example, Ernest Jones talks about a handkerchief drill. His rebuttal is what material is his handkerchief versus his at home. What was the temp outside of the experiment conducted in the book..as handkerchief wool adheres differently to temps.Things like that .. hahah. He is a great soul, but a prime example how easy it is to go overboard or over think things.I told him if he met an Ernest Jones instructor first hand it might be easier. Its amazing how our minds might interpret a video or book differently than others. And how our feels are so unique.I can see how the confusion can just completely overwhelm the teacher and student.
  12. For people jumping into the swing genre's.Say someone watched a George Gankas video on freezer drill-pivot driven swing.Than the same person watched a Monte hands and arms lead the swing.Which idea would you go with? Both teachers have had their success stories and I’m sure have had failures as well. This is imho is where the big divide comes in golf teachings.Body driven swing versus hands and arms driven What is your thoughts ? im a combination of the two.But for people on the rope what camp do they join ?
  13. I think every motion of the swing that we take needs to be watched and analyzed by a teaching pro.As simple as the process of moving a ball from Pt A to Pt B.The process of doing it is as complex as making missiles. It’s quite amazing how multi faceted this game can be
  14. One thing I like is how he keeps the swing athletic.Or moving and not micro managing.Always felt that was the secret to a proper swing But one issue I have with ground forces. Is when do you squat? When do you shoot up off the ground? And how to you add in the turn to all of this? I can see so many of us jacking this up without proper one on one work with a good pro
  15. Anyone else getting a little burned out hitting off of mats into a net? Or hitting under a heated roof off a mat into a snow covered range? Some of you have great at home setups. But some of us have to travel to hit that ball around.Im thinking this might be my last season doing it.Maybe just slow motion air swings with no ball in my basement next year.or putting on my rug. what is your guys thoughts on winter practice ?
  16. Separating my lower from upper half in transition. And not letting the club kick out early leading to pull hooks and pulls
  17. Best drill is hitting a ball swinging 10 miles an hour. And at the same time I leave the club up and try and open my core towards the target as soon as I can
  18. I like your backswing thoughts. Same thing I’m working on. But I start at the backswing (look in mirror make sure I’m set). Than I go thru it.Per a drill from my instructor. For me the flying right elbow and being stuck in transition is a killer to break
  19. What I was trying to say is you need more upper body staying closed. And lower body opening. A feeling of your clubhead weighing 1000 lbs. as your lower body turn away from it.That is what I’m working on. And I understand it isn’t a one size fits all feel some need more body rotation feel. Others more arms and hand winning the race. Its endless I know
  20. Swing after working hard with online striker academy.Cant wait to get back for hands on work with them this spring.Hands on is the only way I can do this IMG_1117.mov IMG_1117.mov https://vimeo.com/899930250
  21. Seems like what you quoted has been promoted as the proper way of doing it.And I would venture since the 1950’s.The old book instructors told us this. But for some reason most couldn’t get it.I like your thought process.Reminds me of me add.. what about feeling like the club mass stays up and behind you.As you turn away from it in transition.Im thinking that was what NTC is trying to achieve
  22. Here is a cool find what I’m working on now with tst academy instructor. But he has me look at my backswing first. When right I come down into the ball. I found a mirror app on iPad or I can use a mirror. And when it is in a good position at the top the whole swing kinda meshes together. I’ve always fought a flying elbow. Which would get me super stuck on way down. Massive inside out and hooks
  23. I think it is the catalyst to the whole sequence. How would you rate backswing in your practice sessions
  24. I’m confused. Is this about playing better golf now with a swing change? Or just looking better on camera ?
