BobW's Achievements

  1. "Javs" good to hear from you ... thanks for the kind words!!
  2. My name is Bob Winskowicz, founder of SQAIRZ. I want to thank the MY Golf Spy team for the opportunity to participate in the Forum product test program. I'd like to also thank the five people selected for taking the time to do the review. For those of you who have never tried the shoes, the following is our promise to you, which is what we so boldly advertise: When you put something on your body, it becomes part of your performance. In all land based sports, there is NOTHING more important than ground connection, balance, and stability. Without balance and stability, you will never use all the energy you create with the ground (distance); and you'll never be consistent (accurate) as your arms follow your body. My promise to you ... the design of SQAIRZ, with our 7 patents, will improve your balance, stability, and ground connection. If we can improve these three things, it will result in more distance and better accuracy. The design of our toe box simply allows the toes to sit and function naturally which will give you better balance. We widen the base under the ball of your foot ever so slightly to add even more balance and stability. As a result, there is now more surface area coverage of the ground to promote a more efficient energy exchange. All of this is proven and measurable with a pressure mat. The removable cleats are strategically positioned and supported by traction lugs. If you are wearing a spikeless golf shoe (without removable cleats) your are compromising ground force and giving up distance. The studies, available on line, state in upwards of 10 yards loss. There is a reason why 82% of all tour players wear removable cleats. There are two connections in the game, hands to the club, feet to the ground. Without balance and stability, the $600 driver and ball you are playing are irrelevant. All the rage with the players today is "how to use the ground" better. Your only connection to the ground is your golf shoes. They can help you or hurt you. SQAIRZ will most definitely help you play better golf.
  3. Jaron, your are not alone ... most people don't take golf footwear too seriously. I will argue that the golf shoe is the most important piece of equipment!! There are two connections in golf, your hands top the club and you feet to the ground. Your arms follow your body. Your only connection to the ground is your golf shoes. Your create swing speed by using the ground, called ground force reaction. When you put pressure on the ground, it gives it back to you (Newton's 3rd Law). When you swing, YOU are pushing down on the ground creating energy; that energy travels up your body and TRANSFERED by the club to the ball. The club and the ball are recipients of the energy your create and it all begins with your feet and connection to the ground. The single biggest difference between a tour play and amateur player is postural control; which is your ability to consistently control you body through a movement. You can create the energy but the real question is are you using it all? Not a chance if your not stable. The result of being off balance and unstable is a loss of distance and accuracy. This all begins with the feet. Lightweight sneaker like shoe allow the feet to literally move in the shoe and on side hill down hill lies its even worse. With a driver, when you are swinging at 94mph you need structure in the shoe and good ground connection. All of this is measured by pressure mapping (i.e. BodiTrak mat) and we can see how much you sway wearing a variety of shoes. The golf shoe and your connection to the ground facilitates all the key fundamentals of the golf swing. Much to the surprise to many is the feet and weight distribution on the feet facilitate hip rotation. Try this exercise: take your golf stance and place all the weight you can on your trail foot - big toe and try to turn your hip back. Then, do the same but put all that weight on the inside of your trail heel and turn your hip back; this should be much easier. Without stability and balance, it doesn't matter what club or ball you play. SQAIRZ was voted "Most Stable Golf Shoe 2022" by My Golf Spy. As we say in our advertising .. "It's the shoes"!
  4. Cnosil, the shoe pictured above is called SQAIRZ Speed BOLD and comes in 6 new colors. For people who like to have some fun with fashion, we've done something different ... each shoe comes with a white lace (except the black) however if you'd like to be a little "Bolder" we include in each shoe box, a second set of laces that matches the primary accent color. For instance, the blue shoe comes with a white lace in the shoes AND an additional set blue laces (no charge) that will really make the shoe pop. The Speed models featured on our website are the Gen2 models and have all the incorporated changes discussed previously (lighter, revised collar, new collar material). We provide free shipping, free spikes for life, free pair of golf socks, and free returns/exchanges. Javs/Cnosil, I hope you give us a try!!
  5. Thanks for the comments and enjoy answering your questions. Admittedly the first generation needed some adjustments and I truly believe we nailed it with the new Speed model. There was a comment about sway ... SQAIRZ was designed with a square toe box to allows the toes to sit naturally - so the toes can splay before and during the swing; this will inherently provide better balance. Because of the toe design, we could increase the base under the ball of your foot by 4mm wider than any other golf shoe. This too provides significantly more balance and stability further reducing sway. i would like to add, the wide base provides for increased braking ability. Think of the golf swing and then snapping a towel; very similar action. You brake twice during the swing to produce clubhead speed and a wide base is proven to increase distance. All of what i stated here is measurable by pressure mats and software where we can see "trace lines" or how much you sway during the swing. Doug/FunkyJudge .... as I stated, the first gen has been improved upon to provide better performance and even more comfort. We are always looking for way to improve our design. Many people have have personals preference however when you consider the weight of SQAIRZ Speed, we are lighter than the best selling FJ shoe. We have PGA Tour players wearing our shoes who walk for living. To answer your questions: (1) amount of removable cleats - we spent a lot of time researching this and came up with a design that includes 6 removable cleat support by a circular pattern of traction lugs. There is no need to add more cleats as the cleats are strategically positioned directly under the areas where the greatest amount of pressure is exerted. (2) yes, we still have spikes for life - free replacement spikes. We offer spikes for free and charge $6.99 shipping and handling. I hope you give us another try.
  6. My name is Bob Winskowicz, Founder of SQAIRZ. I'd like to personally address several of the issues mentioned above. Our first generation shoe had a few areas that needed improvement. The material on the collar of the shoe; the material wasn't smooth enough and would occasionally grab the sock and cause irritation. We also determined there was not enough padding in the collar. These two issues would cause discomfort for some, particularly if the sizing was slightly off. We fixed this issue on the second generation and recently incorporated a new material to make the collar area even more comfortable. I'd really like to talk about weight of a golf shoe. When people mention a shoe feels heavy, i ask, "heavier than what?" The market is overwhelmed with lightweight sneaker-like shoes with no removable cleats. These shoes lack structure cannot facilitate the ground force exchange and proven to compromise distance and accuracy. A golf shoe needs structure to provide balance, stability, and harness the ground force. Structure and weight go hand and hand. There is nothing more important in the golf swing than stability (your ability to control your body throughout the swing)! Forget the driver and the ball, without balance and stability, you'll will render that $600 driver useless. There are two connections in the game; hands to the club and feet to the ground. You create swing speed by using the ground forces and the club and the ball are the recipients of that energy. Remember, your arms follow your body so if you are not balanced and stable, nothing good is going to happen. The right amount structure in a golf shoe is imperative to providing balance, stability, and ground force reaction. There are performance based golf shoes and then there are lightweight sneaker like shoes. SQAIRZ, FJ Tour Alpha, and Adidas 360 (top 3 on My Golf Spy list) are examples of performance based golf shoes. For reference, SQAIRZ weighs 477 grams and FJ Tour Alpha weighs 523 grams. Can you have comfort and structure? Absolutely! SQAIRZ was designed with a wider toe box area so you toes can sit comfortably - naturally in the shoe while all other shoes angle your toes to the center of the shoe. you all most likely cant wait to take your shoes off at the end of the round; not with SQAIRZ. We have top 10 tour players wearing our shoes who walk for a living. In fact, most recently, SQAIRZ has won 3 times on the PGA Tour, finished 2nd at the 3M (after a 4 hole playoff), 3rd at the RBC Heritage, voted one of the best golf shoes by Golf Digest 3 years in a row, voted "Most Stable" and #3 over all by My Golf Spy and outperformed all models of Ecco, Skechers, Nike, NEW Balance, and Under Armour. Please use this test next time you buy a golf shoe: if you can hold it the shoe by the heel with one hand and the toe with the other hand and you can twist it, get rid of it! I'd like to provide some color around the returns/exchanges policy. Other than Nike, no other golf footwear company allows you to wear the shoes and return them. Our policy is presently free returns and exchanges within 30 days. If anyone reading this feels they have not been treated fairly or in some way was dissatisfied with our service, please reach out to me directly and I'd appreciate the chance to make it right. Our new 2023 Speed BOLD model is "walk the course comfortable", stable, and looks great. I hope you give SQAIRZ a try!
  7. SQAIRZ has a two year Waterproof warranty. If waterproof is important to you, one thing to look for is a "gusseted tongue". The tongue is sewn on each side up to (about) the top eyelet. This prevents water and sand from entering into the shoe around the tongue area. When raining, this is one of the key reasons your feet get wet; water enters from around the tongue. This is a little detail that SQAIRZ deploys in all of our shoes where others don't (cost).
  8. Carl, appreciate the detail. How about i send you a replacement pair risk free ... i will gladly include a return label in the box.
  9. Thank you for the objective response! Why is it so hard to believe that a well-designed golf shoe can help you increase distance? Distance is that end result of swing speed. How do you generate swing speed ... through your connection with the ground (Newton's Law's 1-3). Your only connection to the ground is your shoes. Consider the extreme: Try sitting on a chair, pick your feet up and try and hit a ball. Not only is your connection important, the structure of the shoe is equally important. Here is an excerpt (verbatim) from a recent study performed by one of top instructors in the UK who has nothing to do with SQAIRZ: "We tested numerous models of golf shoe, soft and rigid, spiked and spikeless, with a 7-iron. Generally speaking, the more stable the shoe was (the less the foot was able to move), the more force and clubhead speed we created and the better control we had of strike and direction, leading to longer carries on average. We saw variances in carry distance of 7.5 yards on average, 2mph in clubhead speed and 13 yards in dispersion from best to worst. This would almost certainly be amplified were we to test with driver." This instructor also did another study, again with a 7 iron, however this time he did it in his bare feet, spikeless golf shoes (non-removable cleats), and a cleated shoe. For those of you who wear a spikeless golf shoe, don't read on! Barefoot - 82.7 MPH, Spikeless - 81.4 MPH, Spikes 84.9 MPH. With a barefoot you can actually grip the ground. Please also read the Terry Hashimoto case study on the SQAIRZ website under the performance section. My point is, a well-designed golf shoe can provide significant game improvement benefits. SQAIRZ was designed to provide better balance, stability and ground connection, resulting in better accuracy and distance. I hope you give us a try.
  10. I'd like to first thank you for your service! We support several charities that benefit our veterans (Heart of a Lion) and programs such as Adaptive Golf. Several of the players are amputees who need the balance and stability. I am not shy about saying that SQAIRZ is the most stable shoe in golf. We have tested hundreds of golfers using BodiTrak pressure mapping and published the results on our website. In fact, Terry Hashimoto, co-founder of BodiTrak did all the testing and SQAIRZ came out on top! If you decide to purchase SQAIRZ, please call our customer service line 888-793-7779 as we offer a military/veteran discount. Thank you.
  11. Exclusively on the website. We have a 30 day money back guarantee.
  12. Carl, sorry you had that experience with the shoes. It's VERY unusual to have this happen. May i ask what model/color you purchased? If one has a high arch or flat foot the tongue/collar can sit differently however it should never "dig". Unfortunately, there are manufacturing anomalies and sewing mistakes that could also create this type of issue. I'd like to try and fix this for you and ask that you reach out to me. Also, yes, you can return them after you've worn them within 30 days of your purchase. Sorry for the inconvenience!!
  13. You are not alone; a lot of people buy 1/2 bigger as most shoes angle the toes to the center of the shoe and the 1/2 to buy room. Not the best thing for golf as your foot will move in the shoe. You may not feel it, but it is. The square toe (box) design is not a gimmick as some would suggest. In Phil Knight's (Founder of Nike) Book "Shoe Dog" he talks about how a key to footwear design (in sports) is to build out the forefoot area. Every good biomechanics person will agree. The SQAIRZ - square toe allows the toes to sit naturally (doesn't angle them to the center of the shoe), frees up range of motion, and inherently provides more balance and noticeably more comfort. The question about can we quantify performance gains ... absolutely, 100%!! We have tested hundreds of golfers, most likely over 1000 golfers at almost every skill level. We use BodiTrak pressure mapping and either a Trackman or Ernest Sports monitor. Most of the testing was performed by Terry Hashimoto, Founder of BodiTrak. We have someone hit 5 - 10 balls in their current model of golf shoes and then with SQAIRZ. We measure distance yardage, ball speed, clubhead speed, smash factor, range of motion (ROM) in knees/shoulders/hips, center of mass (COM) total sway, center of pressure (COP) at address and during the swing, lateral speed, dynamic vertical forces, peak velocity, and release factor (time from peak velocity to impact). The test results and independent studies are on our website under the Performance section. There are two connections in golf; your hands to the club and your feet to the ground. I've done some fun demo's where i put a driver, golf ball, and a pair of SQAIRZ shoes on the ground and ask "which one of these helps you create swing speed"? The ball and the club are recipients of swing speed YOU create from you connection to the ground.
  14. They are 100% waterproof all the way to the top eyelet because we have a gusseted tongue (tongue is sewn on both sides to prevent water and debris from entering the shoes). Because of the square toe, toes sit naturally and provides more comfort. In addition to Faldo, Jim McLean, Rick Smith, Nick Bradley, Sepp Straka, and John Daly all wear and endorse the shoe. We do offer a 30 day money back program.
