Mizuno fan boy's Achievements

  1. I have a tee time today at 12, for three. My brother and our fri ND Mike both are sick one ith covid and one with flu. So I amooming for a partner to. Join up. Lbi national in little egg harbor nj. Used to be called sea oaks. Any one interested lmk. I play by my self often as my boys are adverse to playing when Colder.
  2. I got a fitting about 4 seasons ago when I was playing a set of Callaway rogue irons. Since I am a club tinkerer I have swapped serveral sets of irons over past 4 seasons. Callaway x14 ( set i had in storage for about 10years untill I started playing again) played these for a month or so. Diablo r irons 1/2 season Rogue irons 1/2 season Mavrik irons 1/2season Jpx 919 hot metal 1/2 season Jpx 921 forged two seasons and current gamer. f Lie was changed to2deg Flat at fitting when paying rouges, then after switching to jpx 919 hot metals, a local drive range Mizuno fitter had me hit off lie board and said I should be two up. I have been playing 2 up since. On a whim I picked up a set of mavrik pro irons a few days ago. I played a round with them and was truly surprised that the head and offset appears so much smaller then my Mizuno 921 forged. I hit the mavriks well, but no way would I swap them for my Mizunos. The one thing that intrigues me is the mavrik are at a std lie and the Miz are 2 up. I hit clean shots with mavriks and they went where I aimed if a little short. I tend to hit 5-10 yards to. Left of target pretty often when I hit pure shot with Mizuno. It's only like $5 a club to have them bent back, it just seams weird that orginal fitting was two flat, subsequent fitting is two up, and I feel like both are wrong and I should be std lie. I am. Tempted to by the club bending machine from golf works so I bend them myself. I already have the lie board, so. Withaome trial. And error I should be able tok. At least get that dialed in.
  3. I used sizing charts found online and it said since he is 5'2" to only shorten shafts an 1" so I pulled the modus neo960 50gh reg shafts out of the mp 20's cut down some old Mizuno super light weight graphite shafts, I think they are ladies flex or senior flex cannot remeber, and gave him a 7i to try and compare the US kids clubs he had from last year. He asked me to cut them down some more so. Cut off an additional 2". Put on ladies grips as his he said grips where too big. So he is playing some mp20, hmb irons 3-pw, a jpx 900 sand wedge, jpx flihi 4 and 5 hibred and a ping g2 10 deg driver, odessey white hot #7 putter. All cut down 3* except putter. Lessons start up again this coming weekend. He is some damn flexible he turns like a wet nooe. He was really stroking the drive out to like 125-150,hitting the hybrid probable the straightest and was using the 3i to hit low Liners at a trash can target on range we go to. You all might be right, but I don't think so. Those kids clubs are garbage. I put super light ladies flex shafts till his swing speed improves. I have at least 5 sets of shafts and 3 sets of heads to play with for him. So far he likes the mp20 hmb. He is 11 years old 5'2 and an athletic 120lbs. I have him a choice between 4 sets of irons. Mizuno Mx23 forged cb Ping Eye2 Mizuno mp20 hmb And a cheap kids set of old cobra irons.
  4. Appreciate the input. Like I said I have three sets to choose from right now. All of whick are probable better choice then those crap junio sets sold. I will build him a set of irons probable the mx23 and the mp20 and let him decide which one he wants to play. The way he hits now with some serious crappy old junior clubs that are clearly too small. I have every confidence in his ability to develope and enjoy the game.
  5. So your right, mavrik is between 1/2 deg and 1 deg different then jpx921. Hell with it. I am going to get lie fitting done and get jpx921 dialed in so at least that variable is settled.
  6. Interesting notion. 1st fitting was with Callaway mavrik irons. 2 fitting was with jpx919 forged.
  7. I got fitted two years ago, but I was playing mavrik irons at the time. I build my own clubs, just have local Pro shop bend the lie angle for me. I have access to a trackman, $65 per hr. So I kinda fit Myself now. I have spent some time swapping shafts in irons and woods, and I really like where I am at now. 921 forged I started with Amt tour white x100, loved how stable they where but they where just too strong for me. Tried same shaft in s300, worked too. I picked up a set of kbs tour 105 s and once I played a few rounds with them, I really like how smooth they are. I was longer with Amt tour white x100 and s300, and I could really let it rip, but with a smooth swing, the kbs is so much more accurate for me. In fact it surprises me how sweet it feels when I stroke it. And really distance is not an issue for me at all. I did same experiment with woods. Started with hzrdus smoke black 70x in driver, 70s in fairway woods. Picked up mavrik sz 3w with aldila rogue white 130msi 70s. Liked it so much I swapped it in to all my woods. Just picked up Mizuno st-z220 with hzrdus smoke blue RDX 70s and so far I really like it. Might be a little high launch for me so may end up back to aldila. Gonna give it some time though. BTW, I am really liking the stz220 driver.
  8. I will work on video later this week. I went to range with my son two days In a row. I am pretty sure it's probable swing plane, but hoping it's lie angle. When I am striking ball well with a smooth fast swing, shot shape, trajectory and distance are just what I want, just goes left about 6 yards or so. It's striking how pure those strikes feel. The kbs tour 105 stiff shafts paired to my jpx921 forged irons are so very smooth, like warm butter. I love my irons. How I hope it's as easy as a lie angle adjustment. The irony is a fitti. G I had years ago had me at 2deg flat, then a new fitting two years ago had me ag 2deg upright. My guy tells me tk go back to std.
  9. My son Tyler, 11, 5'2" 115lbs is starting to really enjoy hitting balls at range. He has had a few lessons and I am planning to schedule weekly lessons as soon as it Warms up a bit. In mean time, I want to build him a set. Fro. A I read he only needs and 1" shorter. Currently I have following heads: Ping eye 2 + Mizuno mx23 I also have a set of fake. Mp20 mmc, someone sold. Them to me on ebay, I got. My money back so they are just hanging on the WA looking pretty. They are a very good fake, nice neo950 shafts. I was thinking of cutting them down for Tyler, I figure if he canearn to hit hit those. Blades he can hit anything. Charts on sizing clubs all show just 1" shorter then std, that seams to long to me. I feel. Like he would be better with shorter shafts.... Also I was gonn put some dynamic gold lite r400 I have laying around, or I could use the neo950gh reg flex steel or I have some old reg flex graphite shaft pulls. From some pings. Was so tgi king just giving him irons and maybe a hybrid.
  10. I got my lie angle tested and clubs bent to deg upright last spring. I am not convinced they are correct Not sure how much this really affects shot direction, but I feel like when I really our the shot it defintely goes left of target. Not a hook, but jusg a pur straights hot lft if my intended target. I feel like 2deg up is just too much. I am going to try some lie tape off my Matt or off a piece of hard plastic today and see what I see. I quess the question here is how much does le ngle really I. Pact shot direction
  11. So I thought my bag was set at end of last season, but I just cannot help myself. Right now I am swapping out some Callaway for more Mizuno. Current bag Driver st-z 220, 9. 5 deg, hzrdus smoke blue RDX Stiff ( replacing mavrik sz 9.0) Mavrik sz 3w ( waiting for Mizuno to release st-z 220 fairway woods) Mavrik 5w, ( ordered jpx flihi 4hybrid, will swap when it comes in) not so sure about this, I do really feel good about both mavrik fairway woods. Mizuno jpx flihi 5 hybrid( jury still out on these hybrids, not sure I am going to keep them in bag or keep fairway woods.... Jpx921 forged 5-gw , kbs tour 105s black shafts. These are golden, solid and long no need to mess with these or the shafts. Mizuno t22 55/9 sand wedge and 60/6 lob wedge. I should have these Ina week, been waiting for 6weeks. Played a round today with no sand or lob wedge felt a little exposed on shortside chips. Odessy triple track #7 putter I dropped a sloping steep hilled 16' put for par save today, no complaints with putter.
  12. Just played first round with new Mizuno st-z 220 9.5 deg driver with hzrdus smoke blue rdx 70 s. So far so good. It's got a great solid feel and s. ound. I do not think it's quite as long as my mavrik sub zero, but I defintely like the forgiveness . I just feel. Less strees standing over the ball. Feedback is obvious, hit it on toe and I could tell, overall I am really pleased with it. Plenty of distance and defintely forgiving. Miss hits still carried a ton and even the one slice I had really did not spin out so far. Shaft is very different profile then the aldila rogue white 70x I was playing in mavrik, but I like it. I really like the head shape and the look at address. I feel like I am going to hit more fairways.
