... Falcons have a 4 and 5 record? Try selling that sad story to Bears, Cardinals and Panthers fans with a combined 4 - 22 record. 😱

It is sad to see the Bears and Cardinals with the records they have. The sad thing about the Panthers, as an NFC South rival, is that they won a game. I'd like the Panthers better at 0-8.

It's a bitter disappointment to see the Falcons at 4-5. And watching the games I amazed they have won that many.

  2. My wife goes to a monthly auction at the local fairgrounds and sends me pictures of golf stuff if there is any. This past Saturday she sent me pictures of three bags of clubs and one bag had a putter in it.

Since I’m on a never-ending search for a putter that works, I asked her to buy the putter if it was less than $30. Some guy bought the bag of clubs, putter, and all, because he wanted the UGA Bulldawgs bag. Who wouldn’t want one of those? She asked the guy if he wanted to sell the putter and the guy told her she could have it.

The putter is a Cure RX1, and it is an oddity. It’s a basic blade shape and conventional putter to this thing is like a paring knife to a cutlass. Hitting a ball it makes a muted sound like a baseball hit with an aluminum bat, like a bunt maybe.

I played a round Monday, and I liked it, but didn’t like the angle and changed it Monday night, which is very easy to do. I played with it again Tuesday and did better and it felt better. I’m going to keep it in the bag for a while and if I don’t like it I’m not out anything and I’ll continue looking for a putter that works.

... One of the most depressing things I hear from my fellow Boomers is "I had to pay for my college, so these kids should to". Without even getting into the fact that my student loan was a much lower percentage and my interest didn't start until I graduated or left college, the selfishness in that statement is just astounding. College has ceased to be about getting education and is a For Profit endeavor, as are the loans. Higher interest that starts the minute you take out the loan from the vultures. It sucks for the younger generation to start off in such a deep hole and almost zero chance of affording a home. In Phoenix even affording an apartment is difficult as the prices are insanely high. Hopefully something works in your favor and I wish you the best of luck moving forward.

I typed a number of responses to this yesterday and deleted them and walked away from the laptop.

However, as a boomer, I’ll say this: my wife (now ex) and I paid for the daughter’s tuition. It was a struggle but we did it. I’ll happily help with my grandkids. I don’t believe I need to pay for anyone else’s college tuition. And I don’t believe that is in any way selfish.

The question is about Ball Lab Reports.  Different than The recently published 2023 Ball Test.  I was asking how bad a Ball Lab report - which deals with the quality of construction - would have to be before you stopped using a particular ball.  The Trifli has not been evaluated in the Ball Lab.  And probably will not be.

Well, to quote Roseanne Roseannadanna "nevermind."

So here’s a random post in the Random Thread…

I’ve been a USAA member for 20 years.  What I’m wondering is why does USAA spend a lot of money on advertising on premium airtime (NFL, MLB, etc) to have Rob Gronkowski tell the rest of America how great USAA is but you can’t join without a military affiliation?  I mean what’s the business case to shell out for that message in an ad campaign??

I also have been a USAA member for quite some time and my daughter has also been a member as a child of a veteran. I know veterans that aren't members, so maybe the ad is geared toward them.

I don't have an issue with the prime time ads. I do have an issue with USAA spending money on a "star." And does Gronkowski have any association with the US Military?

At the moment I consider buying either Model Y or Model 3. But the latter got a serious update several days ago so I guess that will eventually take this option. The fact that you can charge the car yourself without any gas stations is very attractive, indeed.

I have a Model 3 and I love it. I had a Y once as a loaner and I thought it was too much like an SUV and I didn't like the way it handled. It did have a dual motor and was much faster than my standard 3.

The update is interesting, but I'm staying with what I have for now.

Thank you for also providing a retailer! Appreciate that additional detail.

I’m assuming you would recommend them since you said they work well. Have you found any other brands that are similar and work as well?

    You're welcome.

Yes, I would recommend them. I originally bought them for hiking and they work well for golf.

The other brand I wear is Jockey and they work well also.

I’m interested in the Robo lawn mowers.  Not sure SWMBO is as enthusiastic as I am.
All the power lawn  equipment is Ryobi lithium.  For my simple needs work really good.

I have one of those that's 4-5 years old, it still works great. My son-in-law and daughter who live close by use it on occasion. I think I'm going to have to replace the battery soon, but given the mower's age that isn't unexpected.

My very non-serious scramble team, Team Sosig Roll, is playing in a 4 man event tomorrow, so I knocked out some sausage rolls for the boys while watching the footy tonight. Pork mince with sauteed bacon, celery, garlic and onion, toasted fennel seeds and chilli flakes, and some grated cheddar. Should go a treat with a coffee before we play in the morning.

    Those look good.

Thanks Hohjoe. Cool. I tried the Hoka Arahi 6. But, was inbetween an 11 and 11.5 and didn't keep them. But, they felt solid. Good to know that surgery worked for you, thanks, for sharing. I have a feeling eventually that will be the fix.

The surgery worked very well. In hindsight I wish I would have had the left toe fused. It bothers me on occasion, although not enough to have it fused at this point. I have zero issues with my right toe fusion.

Reinjured a broken toe, now per my doctor the cartilage is worn down. Having constant pain. My doctor said, I need runner and stiffer shoes. Have tried many of them without having the right fit. Do you have any golf shoe, sneaker or insert suggestions? This is depressing not being able to play or practice.

I had a similar issue. I had no cartilage left and was bone on bone. I wore Hokas with rocker soles and Hoka boots when hiking. The shoes\boots  didn't help much with the pain, but did help with walking and hiking. I wasn't playing much golf at the time.

F.Y.I. I ended up having my right big toe fused and I had an artificial joint installed in the left big toe.No more pain and no other issues.

  12. I was fitted for a set of these, and they were delivered yesterday. I already had plans for a quick nine with the grandson, so I unboxed the clubs, picked him up and went to the course.

The clubs are clunky looking to a degree, but I don’t care and neither does the ball or the cup. These work great for me. I get the ball in the air, and I’ve gone down two clubs from what I was using. I plan on a full course test Monday and I can’t imagine I’m going to be anything but happy.
