  1. I’ve been playing for a long time. Started playing regularly when I was 18, and now at 72 I have engrained in my head the distances that I hit each of my irons, both max and minimum. With time I’ve learned how to use the clubs based not just on distance but also where I may want to leave the ball for my next shot, especially when going for the green is that “Hero” shot. It’s really important to know your clubs and how you can use them in different situations. In the last year I have learned how to hit a 3 or 4 wood punch shot from the rough that covers more distance than I would ever get with a 5 iron or hybrid. Yeah I used to have a 110mph swing but now I’m lucky if I can crank out 92mph. It’s really important to know your clubs and what they can do for you, it’s not all speed and muscle. But Seanmiller, those are some very impressive numbers. Keep up the good work. With those numbers I really expect your handicap to drop a point or 2 this year.
  2. Over my my 55 years of playing golf, I will say that I haven’t bought a putter that I didn’t like when bought. I have lost count over the years as to how many putters I have owned, always in search of the “Holy Grail”, Which I still haven’t found. But I would say the worst putter for feel and sound that I ever personally tried was the old “BullsEye”, the only putter that was worse to me were the ones at the Putt Putts! I could never get the thing on line, with speed or tempo. yet I know guys that absolutely love this putter. Well my quest is still on and hopefully, I don’t end up spending the rest of my retirement funds looking for the “Holy Grail”!
  3. Have been using 14 way Full Divider bags for almost 20 years and I absolutely love them. Love that they don’t clang around as much and are easy to pull out. A fairly new problem for me is that I have switched to Jumbo Max grips, the Zen Lite’s and the size of the grips makes it a little tighter, so I have to be sure to buy a bag that can handle them. A bag I used to love was the Ogio Silencer, and I see that they have just started producing them again. But I will have to bring a club with me to see if the JM grips will clip into the silencer part before I can go buy this bag again.
  4. Mine has been my Garmin Z80 combo rangefinder and GPS. I absolutely love having both features in one viewfinder. It totally reminds where the traps or water hazards are, and I love having front, flag and back distances all available in one quick moment.
  5. CarlH’s response was pretty much dead on. You need to have an honest evaluation of your own game, and what you can realistically expect. Do you want more distance? Well if you’re using a Ping 400, I would venture to say that gaining distance will probably be an easy task. Do you want a tighter dispersion? Do you hit your irons consistently the same yardage every time?? I went for an iron fitting with a few preconceived ideas about what clubs I wanted. I had an honest discussion with the fitter about what I was trying to accomplish, which was not to hit the ball as I did 10 years ago, but rather to have a tighter dispersion and be able to consistently reach the green in regulation from the tees I play. I left with a whole lot of information, and learned about the pouring of shafts, the “smash”factor, Launch angles and spin rates and decent angles. For me never having been Professionally Fit for clubs this was a worthwhile experience. I ended up with a set of irons that weren’t on my radar and they have been performing beautifully for the last year. If your looking at irons, come up with a ballpark figure that you are willing to spend per club, and go from there. I think that the most important thing is to be honest with yourself and your expectations. I had a great fitter who listened to what I had to say and what I was trying to accomplish and he was extremely helpful. I did pick up a few yards with the irons, but more important to me was I really tightened up my dispersion. For me it was a great experience.
  6. Danny, I am an old guy, 71, with some large hands and lots of arthritis that discovered these grips a while ago. My first grips tried from Jumbo Max were the Ultralights. Like you, my first early reviews were terrible. I did buy several single sizes to see which one I would like the best and settled on the XS. I found that the grips will slip when a little wet, even from sweat. It was so bad that I switched back to my Golf Pride CP2 Jumbos after 4 rounds. The extra size seemed to make me handy also. I wrote this off as a bad investment and an experiment that didn’t work. A few years later after Jumbo Max came out with the JMX Zen Lite and my hands and ability to practice wasn’t getting any better, I decided to give them another go. Here I settled on the small size which is slightly larger than the CP2 Jumbo’s I have been using for years, but almost half the weight. I am happy to say that I have found a winner for me. Though the grips felt a little strange at first, because it has 2 seams on the sides of the grip, instead of one on the underside of the grip as many grips do, including the JMX Ultralight and Tour series. They are a little on the firm side, but they have helped my practice time and I’ve seen an overall improvement in all aspects of my game, except my putting. But that’s a story for another day meant for the YIPS-Challenged. Overall I say that these are definitely worth a try and while they may not help everyone, I really think they are worth a shot.
  7. I agree with some of the other replies that it’s best to try several different models. If you’ve never carried a three wood, you should definitely try some different ones out. They are no always the easiest things to hit. I recently ditched my 3 wood and went to a Titleist TSRi 4 wood at 16.5 degrees and it’s the smartest thing I have done in recent memory. Has become one of my favorite clubs in my bag.
  8. Loved the feedback. Their testing methods were great. I have been playing the Maxfli Tour for over a year and a half now. And it has become my go to ball. As the testers mentioned when I play a ProV1 or TMTP5, I do see a little more roll out from the driver but to be honest that is the only measurable difference for me. Iron shots, wedges and putting all feel great with the Maxfli Tour, and let’s be totally honest here - You can’t beat the pricing! Well done Testers!
  9. I have a lot more confidence on longer putts, anything 10’ plus. But give me a 6 footer or closer and I am a wreck!!
  10. Great data collection. I am very impressed with the thoroughness that here guys have put out here.
