  1. Got my Mezz 1. Max in a few weeks back. Played first round with it yesterday and had one 30 min practice session last week. First Impressions, it seems to be pretty point and shoot as far as line goes. Pace control, jury is still out. What I have noticed in my very limited run so far, long range putts I seem to be relatively close, whereas with previous putters I tended to be well short. Mid range putts up to 15 feet or so, I tend to blow past the hole, but can hit a second putt immediately and be inside a foot consistently when it doesn't get holed. Short range putts, I think the mid range issue was stuck in the back of my head, and I would baby putts that before the LAB I would hit firm, and that was causing any break present to come into play much more than it should. All in all, Look doesn't bother me, Feel is good without a massive mishit, and I can really notice the technology working through the stroke, which is not something I have ever said about another putter. Full Disclosure, I am very out of practice right now with short game, as I went over a month without touching a club prior to the day I practiced putting with the LAB, so I'm sure that also played into it. So far so good.
  2. Interesting read. I typically have used the 7 iron carry x32 method to determine the boxes i SHOULD play from. That puts me at about 6500 yards with a carry at 175. Admittedly, I am on the faster end of the swing speed scale, dispersion is my issue. Another thing I have found is that although a majority of my friends want to play closer to 6200 yards, I do not notice any real fluctuation in my scores from playing further back. I have come to the belief that when I move up, it could be a good drive that is simply too long for the tee boxes, that puts me into water or a fairway bunker or otherwise, where the same shot from one set back of tees could have left me short of the trouble and more playable. Even when its just a friendly wager, if you are someone who has the luxury of hitting the ball further than someone you are playing against, but they tend to be straighter, your advantage will only come from being able to hit from closer. Forcing a layup off the tee to leave yourself the same distance in from a full shot from a deeper set of tees doesn't do you any good.
  3. Just ordered my Mezz 1 Max on Tuesday. Pumped to get it in and try it (in 6 weeks). Couldn't quite bring myself to the $650 price for the custom with upgraded accra shaft, and no luck on the outlet at 33" and 67 lie angle from the virtual fitting. Wanted to go to Club Champion for an in person fitting but learned that they dont stock left handed fitting putters from LAB at any of there stores. Went for the stock option. If I love it as much as I hope I won't have any issue springing for the Orange version with the accra Shaft. It's crazy to me that in 2020 I was fit for a 71 degree lie angle at 33.5 inches and there is so much difference with this, I would assume that the lie angle for LAB would translate to every other putter, and the true difference would come into the balance? Anyone have any input on that? Hopefully I'll see some good results. With a new baby on the way in March, 2024 is likely going to be a range/practice year for me for the most part, but I'm hoping that means I can get nice and comfortable with the new flatstick and give it a proper go when I can get back to the course more regularly.
  4. I guess I should have been more specific. I’m aware none of you are going to be able to give me the perfect answer. As I said, I am a tinkerer. I don’t mind buying a shaft and trying for a while before. My question was more towards what have other higher speed players had success with that can hold up but not feel like rebar. I provided generalities of my preferences for some sort of reference because feel is subjective. For those that have given some constructive responses, thank you. For the rest, until they preface forum rules with “include a disclaimer that you know you should go get fit when asking for any advice” clause, your comments are not much more than a waste of time or energy. A forum is a place for discussion. Not a catch all response group of “go get fit”. hope everyone has a good holiday, best regards.
  5. Looking for input on Driving Iron shaft recommendations. Currently gaming an Icrossover 3 iron with a hzrdus rdx red 6.5 in it. Shaft is a little on the whippy side for me. Looking for something a little firmer in the mid section. In my fairway woods/ Driver I tend to prefer a stouter blue board shaft, but don't need something quite as stiff as the hzrdus black (what is currently in my stealth plus 3 hybrid that I will rotate into the bag). Currently gaming a Hzrdus Blue PVD TX in my driver, and the retail hzrdus blue 6.5 70g in my 3 wood. Thoughts on something like a Graphite Design HB? Im a tinkerer, so I'm not opposed to trying something new for a while.
  6. Can I get a lefty badge and a Broke 80 badge?

    I230 vs p770

Agreed. Similar drops on toe strikes. Middle is always pure for sure, although I can't recall an iron that wasn't that way. I know playing an iron in this category isn't going to let you get away with murder, doesn't help that I am a tinkerer.

    I230 vs p770

Thanks for the info! I actually currently game the 770’s. I like them, I don’t love them. But I’m not ready to go to something much bigger yet. Id looking into a set of i230’s to test with for the next few months. I know they are a little longer in the blade length, but nothing offensive to me at least. Just was curious about any noticeable forgiveness differences particularly on toe strikes. Also considering a combo zx5/zx7 set as I think the v sole could help get through the turf as well.

    I230 vs p770

Anyone hit both? Thoughts on perimeter weighting for toe strikes? Been wanting to try a ping iron for a couple years because of the bounce and sole width as I have a steep attack angle.
  10. Easy enough.... anyone find a cheap ball they like to use that still performs ok and is pretty readily available specifically for captains choice tournaments? Sure the easy answer is use the same ball you normally game, but for those that are like me and the adult beverages flow early and often in these formats $4 a ball can get pretty expensive when you are hammering driver every hole and aiming dead at risky flags.
  11. As the title says. Looking for some recommendations for irons that may work well for players with high swing speeds that have inconsistent strikes. I know the easy answer is go get fit. Looking for some input from longer term experiences than an hour long session. I’ve been fit into everything from an mc to players distance over the years. At one point I’ve been pushing a single digit handicap, swinging 3-4 times a week throughout the year. Now I’m lucky to get out twice a month and that will reduce further still in 2024 with another kid on the way and my swing reflects it. Just looking for something to help enjoy playing a little more with sub par strikes. Currently gaming p770’s 4-p. Attack is steep, driver ss is 115 ish for reference.
  12. Congrats!! I have always said that if I ever hit one, I would send the club to a refinisher such as golf garage and have it refinished in a gold color and then put it in a shadow box.
  13. Thanks everyone for all the replies. My 3 wood is going to hang around the garage for a bit, but I do think I'm going to look for another option. It very well could be an entirely mental issue at this point, but we all know that might be the worst kind of equipment problem. Nevertheless, I do like seeing how other people manage similar issues. Thanks again.
  14. As the title would suggest, I am toying with the idea of ditching my 3 wood and adding an additional long iron. Distance is one of my strengths, and I play my 3 hybrid 19.5 deg. to 240 carry. My next iron is a P770 4 iron that I play to about 210 carry. I am horrendous with my fairway wood, but when it does stay remotely straight it is a 270 club and is rarely used for one reason or another. Thinking about getting a p790 3 iron and adjusting my hybrid to 18 degrees in the hopes of filling that 225 range and having the hybrid jump a few more yards. Anyone else done something similar? My gapping towards the bottom of the bag is pretty good so an additional wedge wouldn't help me.
  15. Plastic outside of the winter months. Once the ground freezes here I have to switch to wood tees.
  16. Thank you. Got my heart racing a little bit waiting for the t series testers announcement
  17. I’ve swung it briefly. Albeit a 6.0 60g. I game a black 6.5 60g that gets switched out for a blue tx from time to time. The hulk 6.0 felt more rigid than the black 6.5. It didn’t take long for me to know it wasn’t for me but I like a little feel in the transition. To each their own that’s why they make them.
  18. This is awesome to see. I’m someone who likes to tinker so it’s not uncommon for me to have an entirely different bag every 2 years or so. Always nice to see after fittings not being pushed to new product and getting verification that what you have works well.
  19. Date 08/08/2023 Course Name Baywood greens golf club Gross Score 94 Course Handicap 17 Gross Strokes over/under par 17 Net Score to Par 0 Net Score 77 Net Birdies or better 5 Longest Drive 290
  20. I too have had a ton of putters over the last 10 years or so that I’ve gotten into golf. Anything from a Nike method in my first set, spider tour, spider x, Scotty 2.5, phantom x7.5, evnroll er2, odyssey double wide. I’m sure I’m forgetting some. Currently I am gaming a Ping Pld prime tyne 4, with a stability tour black. I am also waiting on a spider gts to be delivered that I really only got for two reasons. My putter is the only non Taylormade club in the bag. And I am a huge fan of the true path alignment that I first came to love on my copper spider x. I am hoping it can challenge the ping as a permanent spot in the bag, but I will admit that is going to be a tough ask.
  21. I've had my Series 3 Max for about a year now. My brutally honest opinion in a nut shell? JUNK. Now let me provide some insight on how I got to that conclusion. My first rangefinder was a bushnell V4. I loved it, I used and abused that thing and never had a problem with it over the 3 plus years I had it. I "got rid" of it when magnetic rangefinders became all the range, and to be honest I am a sucker for shiny new golf stuff. The v4 came to it's demise when I bought a magnetic strap for it thinking I was being smart and saving money from buying a v5. First weekend tournament with it, left it on a cart windshield frame. Luckily a friend found it and returned it to me. Fast forward a month, did it again on vacation. Never to be seen again. My wife bought me a v5 Shift for my birthday to replace it. Welp, as luck would have it, two rounds later same thing. As ashamed as I was, I purchased another without ever saying a word and just ate the $400. The next one lasted almost a year, and then same thing happened. Now before we all rush to the conclusion that I need to be more responsible/ less sauced up at the end of a round. I get it. Magnets aren't the problem, I am. The point is, I stopped spending the money on what I knew to be a quality product that I could trust because I kept finding the same things happening over and over again. So I find a Blue Tees Series 3 Max for a deal brand new. It was pink, I guess thats why I got it cheap. I bought a 20 dollar silicone cover for it, complete with an airtag holder. Let me tell you that has solved the leaving it behind problem. Now why it's still junk. The numbers are so unreliable its insane. With the slope feature off it isn't horrendous, within a yard or two of a bushnell on side by side comparisons. I can live with that. But the selling point, the slope feature. It is awful. Again, I can live with a yard or two one way or another. What I can't deal with, is opposite adjustments. For example, slightlly downhill par 3 about 165 yards on no slope readings. Turn the slop on, Bushnell is knocking 4 yards off to top of the flag. Blue Tees? Adding 4. The further the shot the worse the gap would get, I've seen as much as 14 yards between slope readings. Ive changed batteries, despite having full power readings, ive cleaned lenses etc. For whatever reason it stays the same. Maybe mine is a defective unit? Lesson learned, trust what you know works. Im sure there are some good options outside of bushnell out there. This is just my experience. Anyone else have something similar?
