  1. TaylorMade Tour Response is my primary ball. MaxFli Tour is my 2nd. The TM balls can often be found on Ebay for a lot less usually. Just have to be patient.
  2. Driver: Ping G425 Max 4 Iron: Pinhawk SL w/Integra Idrive lite shaft w/Karma Arthritic Jumbo Plus Grip 5-LW 1 Iron Golf Pro-Line irons 3-5-7 1 Iron Golf fairway woods. I want to a 3 iron from 1 Iron Golf, but I would try any of the single length clubs. How I decided was I bought the Pinhawk 4 iron and just compared it to my Cleveland Launcher 4i and I just hit the Pinhawk a lot more consistently than the Cleveland. I definitely lose distance relative to a standard club but I get it down the fairway more often with the one length. I would love to try any other one length clubs, especially Cobra. I hast have never had the chance besides a Cobra one length 4 hybrid which I hate.
  3. In general, irons from CC are more competitive priced than driver + shaft is what I have seen. You can also take all the information you get from the fitting and see if you can have the clubs built elsewhere for less. Most likely you will be able to get them for less. The process is awesome, though. I gave my father in law a fitting for a present and it was like magic for him. His dispersion tightened up so much and his distance was longer, as well.
  4. I feel like the SGI clubs are clubs most people are trying to transition out of as quickly as possible. Most of them have less traditional heads that people find less appealing. Let's face it, there's a stigma with playing these clubs. Unfortunately, there are quite a few more people who probably should be playing them but won't because of pride. I need to be in this category, but I play one length clubs. There aren't any SGI one lenths tested. I am considering the Cobra Aerojet One Length from the GI category, but if I was playing traditional clubs, I would absolutely try any of the clubs on the list. I live a long ways away from a fitter so trying them is pretty hard. If I lived closer to a fitter, I'd probably get fit once a year or two just to try a lot of clubs with a lot of shaft combinations. I think the Mizuno's look really good.
  5. I have that 4i from Pinhawk brand and 5-9, PW, GW, SW, LW in 1 Iron Golf brand Pro-Line irons. I also have 1 Iron Golf 3, 5, & 7 fairway woods.
  6. I switched to one length last year. I bought an inexpensive one length 4 iron and just tested it against my standard 4 iron. While my standard 4i would definitely fly further when I had nice clean shot, I was more consistently hitting the one length 4i. This spring I almost quit and ordered a set of TM Stealth HD clubs, but I stuck with it and am pretty happy right now. While everyone just says to do your 7i set up on every club, I don’t think that really works. Who swings their 4i the same as the GW? Anyway, I’ve found minor changes in stance and ball placement do help with my success, but the ball placement changes are pretty minor. Most important for me was to find the swing that worked faster or slower depending on the club/lie/distance.
  7. My driver is +/- 90 mph and use the Taylormade Tour Response golf balls and love them. I recently got a dozen Maxfli Tour S balls. I think they’re very close to the TMTR balls at a little less. I know the Vice ball is supposed to be good but I didn’t like thEm at all. I hold a lot more greens with the TMTR balls.
  8. Welcome guys. This thread is pretty slow and I didn't notice your posts until now. Lot's of good content and talk around here so enjoy your time.
  9. Honestly, my son loves all sports. Today he hit a shot from about 75 yards out to about 10’ from the pin. That and his 15’ 1 put pretty much sealed the deal, I think. Chasing that feeling keeps us coming back and my son got it three times today
  10. Slope 146, rating 76.2. Home page It was tough. We played from the red tees because my son is 8 and I am not good. It was a great day but my son gave out on 15 because they didn’t any candy on the food cart. Some things are immutable and an 8 year old needs M & M’s. I doubt I get to play very many Jack Nicklaus designed courses so I really wanted to play this one. The people were great but we should have bought a big thermos for water before the round. The drink cart just didn’t make it around often enough for us. If you have the opportunity to play it do. Fairways are narrow and there is no recovery from an errant shot. And it was glorious. Reservations made through Golf Now app. $175 for me and $70 for my son but I had to set up my son when I got there to get the jr rate.
  11. I contacted Sub 70 about demoing one of their utility irons. They don’t have a lefty one for demo but reminded me they had very customer focused “buy and try and return if you don’t like it” policy. 60 days to try and return if you don’t like it. At $130, it’s still one of the more affordable clubs on the market.
