  1. Good morning, golfers! Today I am an art teacher for K - 1 grades. My good play on Friday unfortunately did not carry over to a 4 person scramble I played in on Saturday. The only club I hit well was my driver and I made some putts, but just didn’t hit any approach shots close. Tomorrow will be a Mental Health Day as I return to the golf course.
  2. I carry 4 - 6 golf balls.....more is just extra weight.
  3. Thanks DSB….it was definitely sweet payback.
  4. This morning’s round was very therapeutic, even though the temps were low and the wind was cold. The sun was shining, birds were chirping, and turkeys were gobbling in the distance. Needing to finish early, I hopped on the senior tees and proceeded to birdie 3 of the first 4 holes. I finished my round with 6 birdies, 5 bogeys, and 7 pars for a 71. I set a new personal best record with the 6 birdies, eclipsing my old record of 4 birdies in one round.
  5. Good morning, Spies! It is golf therapy day for this old man and it is much needed after a busy week.
  6. Good morning, Spies! I am subbing at our Middle School again today. Please send positive vibes and prayers that I am patient and even keel working with 7th graders. Sorry, but no cartoon again today. I am still unable to load the files from my phone.
  7. Happy Wednesday, golfers! For some weird and unknown reason, I am unable to upload my daily cartoon. I will try again tomorrow.
  8. I have played three rounds with my new Ping G430 Max 10k and I have to say that I am very impressed. The Max 10k just seems to be a fairway finder. And I do believe it is longer than my Ping G425 Max. I am using a UST MP5 ladies flex shaft or a ProLaunch Blue 45 in stiff flex and both work well in this head. My swing weight is at D1, which is the same as I was playing with the G425 with some lead tape added. My misses with the Max 10k aren't straying far from the fairway and retaining good distance. As advertised, impact sound is muted compared to the G425 Max. So far, I am a happy buyer.
  9. Fred Couples and Chris Kirk....both are so smooth.
  10. Happy Monday! I played an early 18 this morning and I have a 1/2 day of subbing at the Middle School.
  11. Happy Friday, golfers! I walked 18 this morning in blustery conditions and immensely enjoyed myself. The new Ping driver is a keeper.
  12. Good Thursday morning! Today, I am hanging out with high school students in History class. I think my first question will be “Where and when did golf originate?”
  13. Happy Hump Day, fellow golfers! Today, I am PE Coach Reid for Kindergarten and 1st Grade. My round of golf yesterday was much better since my irons and putter decided to play nice. My driver has been performing very well, probably because I have a Ping G430 Max 10k head on the way.
  14. I have purchased a G430 Max 10k head that will arrive this week. I couldn't help myself after the community call discussing this driver. My plan is to use the shafts I currently have for my G425 Max.
  15. Congrats to the testers. I look forward to your reviews on these shafts.
  16. Okay, I drank the Kool-Aid. After the community call where the Ping G430 Max 10k was discussed as #1 on this year's driver list, I went to google and watched some videos regarding this driver compared to the Ping G430 Max. In one particular video, the statement was made that Ping should refund money to those that purchased the G430 Max. The 10k model is supposed to be significantly longer and more forgiving than its predecessors. A G430 Max 10k 9° driver head will be delivered this week. My G425 Max driver and PXG Gen 5 driver will have to find new homes.
  17. Congratulations to all the testers....I look forward to your reviews.
  18. Good Tuesday morning, fellow golfers! A chance of rain this morning, but I am hoping to play later in the day. My irons and putter didn't play nice yesterday, so I am hoping for a better round.
  19. I just recently purchased a G430 Max 10k 9° head so I am going to part with at least one of my Otto Phlex setups. If anyone wants a complete Otto Phlex driver, I am going to part with my PXG Gen 5 0311XF 9° driver with GPLB 45 in senior flex. If interested, please message me for pictures and details. I plan on using my UST MP5 in ladies flex in the new Ping head.
  20. It was a beautiful morning on the golf course, but the weather didn't translate into a beautiful round.
  21. Good morning, Spies! I recently posted about a young man from my town that is competing at the Master's Drive, Chip, and Putt competition this morning. For those that are interested, Brock's father shared the following message on FB early this morning. Matt Jernigan is with Kyleigh Jernigan. 5h · Awake at 2:30am, imagine that…. I’m already nervous for my little man, but I’m watching Brock sleep so soundly. I don’t know if he fully grasps the magnitude of what this all means. In about 6 hours we will drive down the famed Magnolia Lane. He will walk in the same places as Jack Nicklaus, Tiger Woods and Arnold Palmer. He will meet people that have shaped the game of golf and our world. As Mike Tirico said at the banquet last night, all these kids here are already champions. He has worked so hard to get here and he deserves this. This game has taught and given him and me so much. It’s about composure, skill, practice when no one is watching, and so many more life traits. But more than that, it has given us memories that will last a lifetime. From putting on the 18th green at Whispering Oaks Golf Course at 2 years old with a little plastic club to putting on the 18th green at Augusta National. From crying together after losing the Regional in Colorado for the 2nd time to crying tears of joy at that same course when he qualified for the DCP Finals. Someone said last night that Sunday will be the “best day of my life” and man does it truly feel like that is the case, BUT, as a friend of mine says a lot, “the best is still to come”. My prayer for Brock tomorrow isn’t championships, it isn’t a 240 yard drive down the pipe or sinking a putt to win it all, my prayer is that he sees God working in his life. It’s that he sees that hard work really does pay off. He sees that even in the biggest stages, with the most to lose, he can still smile no matter the outcome knowing that golf doesn’t define who he is, God does. So as you wake up in the morning on Sunday, April 7th, please take a second to send up a prayer for my little man. Pray that he can show the ability that God has given him to the best of his ability and for the glory of God. Pray that no matter the outcome that he can enjoy the experience. And at the end of the day, he will know that we are, as my grandad used to say, “so proud”. Dang my grandpa would have been on cloud nine today. Thank you all for all of your support and kind words through all of this. It truly has been overwhelming the amount of support we have seen. Please hear our heart-felt thank you. You don’t know how much it means to us and him. Well here we go. Augusta National, look out, the Jernigan’s are coming! #DriveChipandPutt
  22. Good Friday morning, golfers! A young man from Lebanon, MO is competing at the Master’s Drive, Pitch, and Putt on Sunday. His name is Brock Jernigan and both his parents are educators and coaches in the Lebanon School District. I hope everyone has an enjoyable weekend.
  23. My life outside of golf consists of substitute teaching a couple days each week; spending time with my wife, our 3 kids, and our 10 grandkids; and completing my household chores. Not very often, but occasionally, I will go fly fishing with a couple of buddies.
