Javs got a reaction from Cfhandyman in SEASON 2 - WEEK 36 MYGOLFSPY FORUM MEMBER WEEKLY VIRTUAL CHAMPIONSHIP TOUR (VCT)
Date 12/07/2023 Course Name Sun City Golf Club Legacy Hills Gross Score 75 Course Handicap 1 Gross Strokes over/under par 3 Net Score to Par 2 Net Score 74 Net Birdies or better 2 Longest Drive 303 SIM Round? Wow it was hard out there today! Cold and windy is one thing. However, today the winds were gusting and continuously changing directions. Sometimes it changed during a swing. I felt very good to get in with 75. On top, the greens were firm and fast. They did not hold shots! I hit 13 greens, but had a horrible 35 putts. Was glad to get the horse into the barn!

I would take a lot less than 600 million. Just saying and my schedule could be wide open, ha ha!

That really was my point. It’s easy to bash unless you are that guy. I don’t think it is my place to insult him. While personally I am not a fan of LIV, I fully understand him or the others setting their family up for life.

I think that Rahm’s departure will hurt the PGA Tour product more than any of the others that left.

How does Rahm's decision effect anyone but his family? Anyone would take a raise from any company that helps there family! Get over it!!

I agree fully. I just wish someone wanted to offer 600 million to an over 60 golfer with a 1 handicap, ha ha.

100% agree. Very few of the first wave guys that left really had a solid following. Maybe Cam, BK, DJ, Phil and Bryson. But Rahm eclipsed all of them by far. I don't see his decision as hypocritical at all. The context around him changed since he first came out saying he wanted nothing to do with LIV. Once the context changed it made sense that his own rationale and decision making could also change. Blame the PGAT for this mess, not Rahm.

I think it becomes fatal only if Scotty and Rory leave next. However, Rahm’s departure is a very significant loss to the product.

Found this article. Maybe recreational golfers will not lose as much distance as they think. I fully acknowledge that no one wants to lose any distance. Length off the tee is a key aspect of my game. However, when the rollback happens I’ll probably be too old to notice….

We all know that is for the money, and they’re aware of it too. Not sure we need to hear it, obviously they are not going to say I’m moving for the money to discredit LIV any further.
The restrictive nature of the PGA needs to adapt, or things like Joel Dahmen at the WM happen 🤣 let the guys wear shorts FFS, it’s hot as hell and the world is getting hotter. If we can’t adapt traditions into our evolution then they will die. Don’t get me wrong, I like the PGA, I do wish there was a blend of the two. Every weekend I’m on the course in the summer though, the local clubs around here look like LIV tournaments anyways. Guys getting way too smashed, being embarrassingly loud and a noxious, hitting on cart girls if they’re present, and being a drunk idiot in the club house. That is golf to a large group of people, and golf has to be visible to all groups and opinions or we will see golf courses close for townhome developments. It’s nice when you go to more expensive courses because you do get that peaceful majestic nature of the sport the PGA embodies and once had, but we can’t afford that every day 😉
Either way, I love the discussion this creates because we all grow from things like this

Arguments like this or the classic everybody has a price are so meaningless to me. Some people have a spine and are willing to hold to their word and stand up for their values and what they believe in instead of just cashing in on easy money.
Attached are what he said about money just last year. Monahan betraying the player's trust isn't enough to shift blame off Jon for this hypocrisy in my opinion.

Good morning! Bright, sunny, brisk morning here in Southern Mi and it's looking like it's supposed to be a nice 50* day! No golf for me today because work will be getting in the way, but I did get out and golf yesterday.
Speaking of yesterday:
The selling of my old Ping S58 irons on fb marketplace went very well (thanks for the well wishes)! The guy who bought them was so nice and we talked about golf for 20ish minutes. He even invited me to his golf club if I'm ever in the Toledo, Oh area! I, of course, told him to join the MGS forum.
Have a good day everyone!

I have been thinking on this a little bit as we played today in 25 mph winds with firm greens. First, it really doesn’t matter what any of us think. The governing bodies and the tours will make their rules. Then you either play by them or you don’t. Same thing as moving the ball or taking liberal drops. The rules and conforming equipment are what they are, period. Yes at almost 62 I can still move the ball. I can hit the occasional 300 yard drive and probably average 285. Why is the question. Why can this old guy that was combat wounded and had multiple surgeries still move the ball. One because I still workout religiously. Two, because I also stretch daily. Then I think we tend to eat better than those that went before us.Even when I was in the military we had human performance trainers that worked on our fitness and health. Now stay with me, take a 20 or 30 something professional that has an entire team. Best equipment and fitting, best fitness if they put in the time and best nutrition. Of course they will bomb the ball! The question is does the game evolve with the players or do the governing bodies try to make us all dinosaurs. If a 60 year old today is longer of course a prime professional athlete will be longer. However, who cares? Let players enjoy playing and scoring. The bottom line is you still need to score. I think they are trying to protect something that doesn’t need protected. We don’t use hickory sticks anymore. Grow the game make it fun. Let the best play. They still only give the trophy to the best each week. Personally I would rather see a Major with the winner at 12 under and playing great than a player just surviving and winning at 3 under. Ok done with my rant!

But even were those estimates correct, it sidesteps the fact that this is a tour not an amateur player issue. Why should 99% of golfers take a reduction in distance (of any amount) to address a problem associated with less than 1% of the players worldwide? And what if this rollback does not scratch their itch.. what next?
It amazes me how many are willing to capitulate to ridiculous and needless edicts from a governing body who, at least outwardly, says their primary mission is to represent us and the best interests of the game. Get off your knees folks and be heard!
