  1. thanks @jbern, fun to see "Takomo" on the bag tag, I am still feeling lots of gratitude to Takomo and MGS for the opportunity to get these irons, I would have never in a million years played them, and now love them...
  2. this just arrived, proof of my 11th hole in one on number 11 with my beautiful Takomo irons!!
  3. bring it on.... I can say, "time and place" and as long as it isn't loud enough for other groups to hear it. Definitely not in competition, (so back to time and place)
  4. my son in law got up early and went to a beach called Island View and took some pictures. have a great day everyone…
  5. Yes!! This is Canada today, well Victoria which is technically south of the 49th parallel so kind of in the great US of A… but a beautiful day on willows beach in Oak Bay. I took the two grandsons to golf lessons but did t play… looking forward to Monday Tuesday on the links..
  6. the article hits on some valid points, I feel every golf course should have "their" dress code front and centre so if you want to play golf on one particular golf course you won't be surprised when you arrive. If I go to a golf course that is new to me I always check their dress code, if I don't agree with it I don't play it. the perception of the player will determine if the golf course makes money or not, if the dress code is perceived to be too strict for the style of gold course the players will go somewhere else, then if the course starts seeing a decline in green fee players they may change their dress code etc. etc. If the question pertains to "professional golf" I don't mind seeing shorts on the athletes, I don't know if they "have" to wear shorts or if it is an option but it looks fine to me.
  7. Good morning spy's I have my three playing partners with me today, should be a day full of laughs... Have a great one everyone...
  8. and I like mine to make sure the face of the club is square to the target. as well as setup, eye position and shoulder alignement, it is a multi faceted tool and I really like it
  9. Hello spy's... I guess my work on the putting green yesterday worked to my advantage. Hit 16 greens, 11 fairways, 30 putts, for a total of 2 under 70. made some solid 5 footers to save par and a couple of birdies, greens were fast and true. great ball striking and positive putting, felt really good... 130 slope from the men's tees so pretty tough course...
  10. wow, that is some good ball golfing... way to go...
  11. Well good morning spy's... Looking forward to "The Players" getting started, looks like Rory is off to a good start. We have a fun "eightsome" planned for today, two 4somes. low net on each hole then compare cards in the club house after to see who buys the beer. A low stress day, don't have to grind lol... Looks like some sunny warmer weather on Southern Vancouver Island so there is that as well, anyway have a great day everyone...
  12. I managed to stick with my "plan" of warming up on the range before my round then "practice" after the round. I was not happy with my putting so hit the putting green, did some "around the hole" putting from about 4 feet and used my putting mirror to make sure my eyes were in the correct position and putter head is square. Had a good session, now have to take it to the course today.
  13. wow, look at you go Josh, I had a "basement business" from 1992-1998 building clubs, had a lot of fun and made some money, not a lot but some... you will do fine, I have Maltby's book on how to build the clubs and it works really well, what iron heads are those?
  14. Does it affect the way I watch the players? I will have to see, I am enjoying "Live from" but I find myself being a bit more critical of quotes like "the best players in the world are here, and "the deepest field in golf" as I know that is not true, which is what Paul McGinley said to Brandell Chamblee and had Brandell spinning a bit.
  15. that reminds me of a quote from my dear mother after she had cataract surgery, "well, that is the most expensive surgery i ever had, now i have to get a facelift"
  16. sacrificial lamb... yeah possibly eh, he wears his emotions on his sleeve for sure...I like that about him interesting comment about TW... good point...
  17. Good morning all.. I have been watching "live from" the past couple of days and wow, lots of information coming from the telecast for me... Yesterday the back and forth between Paul McGinley and Brandel regarding The Players being considered a 5th major was quite interesting, especially hearing Paul McGinley's take on it... Today one of my biggest takeaways was the Jay Monohan press conference, his health is in question to me, he looked terrible at the start of the conference but saw some colour come back into his face by the middle so that was good, man he must be under considerable stress. One more question I have for you knowledgable spy's.. Has Rory lost some of his credibility, whether it be his game or his vision for the PGA tour? Just food for thought out there... Anyway have a great day everyone, enjoy the day.
  18. hmm, great question, I would rather play Augusta National once, I think even if I did get tickets to watch the masters I would do wed/thurs/friday and watch Saturday sunday on tv coverage, just too much going on to be everywhere all at once.
  19. 1966-1968- set of junior iron, don't know the name but were butter knives. 1969-1972-a mixed bag of womens irons again don't know the name but got me through until I was 12 years old 1972-1976- Lady Haig Ultra's 1976-1980-Hogan Directors 1981-1995-Arnold Palmer 1st. 20. what a great read, thank you for that...
  21. I was taught to "plant" my feet and use them as an "anchor" so my core could act like a spring.. boy things have changed...
  22. putting, putting, putting... Yikes, what a performance, not only were his putts going in but most of them were centre cut. On the long par 3's he "kept the hole in front of him" chipped and saved par twice that I remember. So many good takeaways and reminders for me going forward.
