  1. OK, so went for a to a fitting at titleist to try and sort this out. Clear result, my swing speed is back to where it was 10 years ago, the r flex I was fitted for 2 years ago are not working as well as s flex, so staying with t200, will upgrade shafts to s300 amt black. That part was easy. Driver shaft and driver testing, less easy. Final result was graphite design tour ad d1 6s and a tsr3.... not sure how we're gonna sneak this by the budget committee, but it's happening !
  2. Thanks very much, I'll try and get them both on trackman over the next short while and see what are the numbers. Just really surprised by the immediate difference in feel and output, you learn something every day!
  3. Following on from my post in how'd you play thread..... My driver - I'm currently playing a TSI 2 in a 10 deg, project X evenflow white 1100 65g shaft. My really old driver is a Taylor Made superfast burner 9.5 with a fubuki 63c x5 stiff shaft. Played the really old driver this weekend and it beat the sh1t out of my gamer. Now I appreciate this is a one off, one round, insufficient data points type query, but......as far as I can see those shafts are pretty much the same, so why would one feel so much more natural than the other? I assume the fancy new titleist head has to be a bit faster than a 13 year old taylor made...? It seems very odd to me that I was hitting it with a better shape, carrying further, feeling just....better. I basically missed 1 drive out of 14, hit I'd say 10 fantastic tee shots, 3 mediocre, and 1 fairly poor. Anyone any suggestions, I'm really just trying to figure out whats going on, I can't believe I should revert to the really really really old driver.....
  4. Yup I know, I'm being a little tounge in cheek on it. I was very happy with the fittings at the time, but since then I've also worked on my speed and I think my swingspeed is now back to what it was when I used to play a lot more (and was younger!), so its reasonably likely my flex profile etc will have changed since.... The shafts in the old set were all pretty stiff or certainly stiffer than i was more recently fitted for, so I may go for a tweak with my guy.
  5. Had a really surprisingly great round (for me) that has me doubting everything I've read about club fitting and new technology. Card below but.....I was a round at my old home club while back in Ireland for a weekend game with my brothers. I was playing with a set of clubs that was very assorted. My irons were a set of DCI 990s I left at home a few years ago, from 2003 ish. My driver was a Taylor made burner in 9.5 that I'd bought on ebay about 8 years ago. The putter was my nephews, pulled out of his bag that I had time for roughly 15 mins of pootling around the putting green with. I had my best ball sriking day of the last few YEARS. I was shaping my irons more or less as desired, and while I missed a few putts early on, I holed a bunch of clutch putts coming in to finish 4 over gross..... Super happy with the day, less happy to have pointless spent about 2-3k on fitted Irons, woods and putter over the last 3 years!!!!
  6. Teetering on the brink of adding a low loft iron to the set, have a 16 deg 3 wood gapping to a 24 deg 4 hybrid. Really want a low lofted iron I can use to hit narrow fairways, and am balefully eyeing up a titleist U500 in 20 deg.....I have space in the bag as am only carrying 13 clubs. Marketing hype tells me I should get the U510 to launch higher, but I want it to launch lower, as really what i want it for his to hit stingers and nothing else.
  7. I'm going with crazy good. Playing the 16th hole at my home course, interclub matchplay event (Barton cup for any irish readers), match was all square, hole is a roughly 400 yard par 4, plays a slight dog leg right, I'm a lefty with a fade, into a massive wind in April, cold temps, hit a stone cold killer 5 wood into 3 foot from about 180 yards out. What made it so sweet was the combination of matchplay circumstance, how that hole sets up (miss left is dead and possibly ob), had to start the ball right of the green, allow it fade back over a nasty bunker, not over cut it, not go long (also dead), opponents were already on the green so literally felt pivotal to the match. Can still feel how the ball felt off the clubhead and how the swing felt today, use that memory lots when I'm under pressure.. Oh, crazy bad. Club championship, final round, I was in the 2nd to last group going out which was way above expectations / handicap range as I had a really good first round. Shanked a ball so far left off the 2nd tee, playing an iron for safety, that I think my ball hit a road 2 roads over from the ob limit, passing over a childrens party in a back garden en route. Safe to say the old confidence didn't really recover for the following 16 holes.
  8. A boy can dream.....honestly though, the implied bounce in club head speed would do me fine, it'd be an absolute game changer for me to take that to the course. So many par 4s at my home course that are at 400-440 yards, getting an extra 20-30 yards from the 10 mph additional would certainly save me a bunch of strokes over a season. I guess since I'm only half way through, still a decent chance to up it further before we start back. Also started today a golf specific fitness program with a personal trainer, she put me through the TPI assessment and then murdered me with resistance bands, wall balls, and a bunch of one legged exercises, I've been walking like a pirate ever since.
  9. So a few more sessions in and the gains seem to be sticking for now at least. How have people found the espeed correlates to driver real world speed? Like if the gains shown below turn into real world, they can have all of my money forever. Sent from my SM-A725F using Tapatalk
  10. I've just started on the stack, I'm incredibly impressed with how well its worked for me. Just 5 sessions in and my espeed has gone from 94 to 104 already, which was the target I had for completion. I've no clue how well this will translate to the course but I am quite motivated now to push along and see how far I can go, driving distance has been a real anchor around my game for some time and I can actually believe now that its not "innate" in me to be a short hitter but something I can train to improve. When I was growing up, we were specifically told to always swing within ourselves, swing smoothly, not try to murder the ball etc.....so much absolutely terrible advice resulting in training people to swing slowly. Eye opening so far!
