  1. Great mention, and also follow the distance from last location for errand shots that aren’t in the fairway… So it gets used often. Haha
  2. Just my take on Garmin When I started to take improving my game seriously, tracking my shots a few years ago was one of the best things I’ve done. The stats side of things was eye opening, and continue to direct me where I need to focus my efforts. But also a humbling experience, as learning my actual average distances was a knock at the ego, but has helped my shot selection and course management tremendously. I started out my tracking journey with a Garmin S62 bundle with 3 sensors. After just one round I went and got the 14 sensor set. The set it and forget it (other than battery replacement every 2-3 years) was worth it for me, scrolling through the watch to select the club I used (though simple enough), after misclicking a few times, I just wanted ease of use. I have been loyal to Garmin since, I find their GPS very accurate, I still use a range finder for distance to the pin on approach (mostly just for a more accurate pin placement) to keep the stats as true as possible. But the GPS and sensors are only half of the package. The app is incredible. The strokes gained categories, the miss tendencies, up and down percentages and putting stats really give me an idea where each area of my game is at. Then there’s the breakdown of each club, the more you use it, the more it learns. It has figured out gapping issues and with each club it provides a distance most likely to hit the green and 2 putt with each club. Which has improved my course management. Last year I upgraded to the S70, and display wise it was a huge jump. Functionally it gives the S62 a lot of credit, as there was little to improve on other than screen size and definition. With the subscription comes with green contours on a number of courses, which is displayed on the watch. For me it’s worth it. But at $13 a month it is steep. I’ve always been curious about other systems, but my experience with Garmin has been great, they stand by their product (have replaced faulty sensors without issue and support team very helpful for the very few issues I’ve came across) For that reason I’m not searching for a replacement any time soon. Cheers,
  3. I have the Garmin R10, despite how happy I am with it, I don’t use as much as I’d like. During the winter I use my 24h membership to a facility with Trackman, and during the summer I most often use my VoiceCaddie SC200+ for my Stack training. Both of which I am happy with, but having access to a Trackman kinda makes both redundant as my pre-round sessions are more for short game a few range balls to warm up/ access my swing tendency that day. Cheers.
  4. Interesting.. 5 rounds does seem very quick, especially if that’s after brushing. I can’t remember any of my wedges rusting that much that fast, and I’ve had at 2-3 sets per generation. Had one MG2 where a patch grew relatively quick but not the whole face. That looks like the aftermath of my salt bath treatments. Haha (Pics are before/after I used GroovEx when I purposely rusted my MG3 for the 3rd/final time, they were near the end of their life for me at 150-175 rounds. Now are practice wedges)
  5. My MG4’s haven’t rusted yet (mostly Canadian winter indoor use since I got them), but I found my MG3 gap wedges used to rust the fastest as well. In my mind I somewhat proved my theory on the gap wedges usually being first to rust. That being I never used to use them out of bunkers. So they were never in comparatively drier situations.. And subsequently probably put the gap wedge away without a thorough towelling more often. Now that I’ve made big changes in technique, I find myself using my 60 less than my 50 out of bunkers and they seem to be much more uniform. I also found from promoting rust after extended use, that it’s quite easy to introduce rust. So it could be as simple as being put away wetter than the others a time or two. Cheers,
  6. Taylormade MG4 - 50-09° SB, 56-TW12° and 60-TW11° Got them near the end of last season, but have played nearly 100 sim rounds so far this winter.. and a lot of chipping sessions. So I’ll be ordering a new set this summer. I’ve been playing the MG wedges since the first generation.. and have been in the TW 56/60 grind since the MG2. I’ve wanted to try out others, but for me these MG’s are just too good and keep getting better.
  7. They were not the greatest at responding to my requests before ordering. But when I put the order in requesting the shafts (Project X LS) not be installed as I was putting in the axioms they were really good about sending it in pieces. At least if you’re taking it to a builder they won’t have to pull the heads and ruin the Edel theme ferrules which I really liked.
  8. That’s exactly what I did, start out with the heavy weight in the middle. Take 10-15 swings and see if there’s a miss. Move the weight accordingly and see if/how much it corrects. I’ve also been using the DeWiz trainer, and with the improvements to my swing I’ve found that a couple adjustments have been needed. Absolutely love that ability!
  9. A bit of trial an error (expensive for shafts which is why I only tested the 7i before committing to the build), but I also have a Trackman certification and spend hour upon hours at a local facility. So it wasn’t a blind test. As for the weight adjustment, it’s very easy to do performance based changes. Which for me can be a day to day change.
  10. I ordered an SMS Pro 7i at the beginning of the year, with extra weights, tested with the shaft I used to play… smashed my expectations I then tested it again with an axiom 125x shaft and improved the numbers even more, but went with lighter weight shaft. My current iron set up is 3-PW SMS Pro with Axiom 105x. Swing weight at a D5 with Winn Dri-Tac Lite grips. Biggest thing is the position of the weights… my set blends from a heel bias in the long irons to a toe bias in the short irons.
  11. Watched a video of Alex Elliot a few months ago, and since I normally avoid practice swings it took me until a few rounds ago to adopt. But after advising a few friends and seeing the results, gave it a shot. And the difference is staggering. the idea is two and only two practice swings. First in super slow motion. I do like 10% speed, I use that swing to feel what I want, maybe over emphasize on a swing thought. Second is 150%, technique and everything out the window, just go for it. set up to the ball, and swing normal. I’ve gained what seems like effortless distance, accuracy has improved and eliminated probably 25% of my mishits if not more. Cheers!
