  1. This score was recorded wrong. The gross strokes over par is wrong, throwing the net score off.
  2. I think Lowry over Meronk is the biggest snub of the whole process.
  3. That's correct. I suppose it could be a bogey on a hole you receive 2 strokes, technically, if the golfer has a high handicap it could be any gross score that equates to a birdie after the course handicap is applied to calculate the net score.
  4. Great deal, I looked at those real hard but ultimately decided I didn't want to go through a long drawn out trade process and couldn't justify getting anything new without getting rid of stuff.
  5. Proud to report @BrightFairways @MaxEntropy @WillRowland I represented Team Net Birdie well, recording a net birdie on 1/2 the holes on the course. The other 9 holes played left something to be desired, particularly 3-putting #9 and #18 to back my way into a 38-41 for +9 79. @Golf2Much @GolfSpy TCB
  6. Date 09/05/2023 Course Name Clearbrook GC white to blue Gross Score 79 Course Handicap 13 Gross Strokes over/under par 9 Net Score to Par -4 Net Score 66 Net Birdies or better 9 Longest Drive 230 VCT Match Play Score Click Here for Week 1 Match Play Score Today I played the blue tees to finish a full rated round at this fun 9 hole course that has a par 70 rating/slope if you play white to blue. I played ok today, made a couple clutch putts and avoided any real bad holes. I'm really happy with how I played over the 18 holes in total, 8/12 fw 7/18 gir 33 putts. Couldn't get a birdie to go in, but I made a ton of pressure putts for net birdie. The bad is finishing with 3 putt double bogey on the easiest hole on the course after 3 putting that green on the front 9 when I was about 18' away from my tee shot. That green broke me.
  7. Date 09/04/2023 Course Name Bey Lea GC Gross Score 85 Course Handicap 13 Gross Strokes over/under par 14 Net Score to Par 1 Net Score 72 Net Birdies or better 4 Longest Drive 240 VCT Match Play Score Weekly round with Dad. He had a fantastic start right around Even and I was +8 through 6 following a triple bogey. That's when the lightning alarm sounded and we had to walk back in from just about the furthest part of the course. There was a 20 minute delay once we got back to the clubhouse and then the 500 yard walk back out to the 7th tee. I got my act together on the back 9, I guess the lightning delay helped? 5 pars and 4 bogeys to finish a very weird 46-39 for a +14 85. 8/14 fw, 7/18 gir 33 putts.
  8. I played Gambler Aug 11th it was pretty much what I expected. Last week I made it to Hopewell Valley for the 1st time. I really liked that course, fun setup.
  9. A couple clerical points, the date says 8/29. Technically we didn't start until September 1st. Even though this week started for Week 22 of the Virtual Tour, our Match Play Event has to be rounds played 9/1-9/10 for the 1st Round.
  10. Date 08/31/2023 Course Name Hopewell Valley GC Gross Score 94 Course Handicap 13 Gross Strokes over/under par 22 Net Score to Par 9 Net Score 81 Net Birdies or better 2 Longest Drive 280 VCT Match Play Score Had 6 drives of 250y or more. The one that went 280y took a great line and tumbled down a hill a long ways. Unfortunately a poor short game led to 5 doubles and a triple. 47-47 for 94, in spite of 10/14 fw only 2/18 gir.
  11. Similar vibes, my elbow has been a bit tendinitis-ish and my back is always fragile, so I only played 9 today. Man I wish I would've kept going the way I was hitting them, 4/6 fw and the other 2 were within 10y 4/9 gir with 2 others just off the green. I have that 9 in my back pocket and will try to play the same course from the blue tees this Wed-Thu. I have a round booked with Dad on Monday but it looks like I'll play from the forward tees, unless we get paired with people my age. If I can play blues I get a fair 13 strokes.
  12. This resonates with me. I wanted to see a youth infusion so I got 1/2 what I wanted but honestly I thought Young was more likely to make it than Burns. Also I'll add I'm surprised Bryson isn't being talked about as a snub as often as many others including DJ. I saw one of them shoot a 58 recently and it wasn't Mr. Johnson-Gretzky.
  13. Driving range for about 35 swings. Did something different, 2 swings each 6i, 5i and worked my way up through the clubs 2 swings each to driver. With about 20 remaining I switched to the new 48° for about 10 shots at different targets 50-100y and then PW to 3-4 different targets 100-125y. Realized my bad wedge shots come from overswinging from the top when trying for a touch extra distance. I found a fix I think, taking a fuller swing without getting faster. I finished with a simulated 3 holes, by the end I felt like I had unlocked something.
  14. Date 08/28/2023 Course Name Bey Lea GC Gross Score 83 Course Handicap 10 Gross Strokes over/under par 12 Net Score to Par 2 Net Score 73 Net Birdies or better 3 Longest Drive 235 VCT Match Play Score 7/14 fw, 6/18 gir was off the fw more than I'm accustomed, but had a plus day for distance, leaving me inside 100y from the rough a lot. 33 putts was aided by 0 putts on #6 (holed out a SW from 20y) but I 3-putted 2 out of 3 of the par 5s both times turning birdie chances into bogeys. 44-39 for +12 83 is my 2nd best score at this course. A stretch from hole 10-14 I played at +1 felt like I was in total control.
  15. I was thinking it would be a lot of fun to have National Team match play in the off-years of the Ryder Cup. I'm imagining a 12 Nation field determined by the combined ranking of the best 9-12 golfers from each country. Each golfer would be worth a value and the team would be seeded based on the world ranking. Wildcard if you had a "Rest of Europe" team etc based on the world rankings having an abundance of high ranked players from disparate countries. How much fun would this be to watch over the course of a month in August/September 2025?
  16. I like the idea of the U.S. bringing young blood. Cam Young and Sam Burns would be on the team if I were picking. Probably at the expense of Fowler and JT. Finau is in the discussion for one of those last spots as well as Bradley and Glover. I'd be looking to get as many under 25 players in as I could justify.
  17. @GolfSpy TCB Week 1 pairings: 3A @WillRowland and @MaxEntropy 3B @BrightFairways and Myself

  19. I'd adjust slightly and add a 🕳 under the ️ since you placed the pin so close to the "A" in Aces.
  20. @BhamGator I find it useful to think in terms of full swing, 3/4 swing, 1/2 swing, 1/4 swing, chip/flop. The math isn't exact, but close enough for approximation imo, since you're factoring in wind, slope and other conditions on the fly, a half swing will go a little further than half the normal carry distance of a full swing if I have 1/2 backswing and full follow through. It goes a little less than that number if I swing back and forth keeping the clubhead around waist high at the finish. I first get an estimate of the yardage. If it is within 10 yards of the full swing carry of my wedges I will pull that club and hit something close to a full swing. In-between yardages I tend to defer to the lower lofted wedge, the idea being keep it low and moving toward the target. Slope and pace of the green and my lie have a critical role in the final decision. In long rough I know my options to flight and spin are limited and my probability of a soaring flier over the green is moderate. I tend to use extra club 3/4 or 1/2 swing from the rough inside 90y. There are times you get so short sided the only play is to try a flop shot with your highest loft.
  21. Date 08/22/2023 Course Name Bey Lea GC Gross Score 88 Course Handicap 10 Gross Strokes over/under par 17 Net Score to Par 7 Net Score 78 Net Birdies or better 1 Longest Drive 255 Very inconsistent day. The fact I broke 90 is a testament to my scrambling ability. Lost a sleeve of fresh Q Star before moving to a scuffed Snell Mt b on the back 9 and scoring well with it. 46-42 for +17 88, 37 putts, 6/16 fw, 4/18 gir. Hit a couple bombs with Driver. Also hit 1 off the toe and 2 in the woods. Tough game. Contemplated retirement from the sport on #15 before a great sand save and a sweet 7i off the tee on #17. The 1 net birdie was actually a net eagle.
  22. Date 08/21/2023 Course Name Cranbury GC Gross Score 86 Course Handicap 13 Gross Strokes over/under par 15 Net Score to Par 2 Net Score 73 Net Birdies or better 6 Longest Drive 250 9/12 fw, 6/18 gir 30 putts. 44-42 for +15 86, round included 3 double bogeys and a triple bogey. So I played the other 14 holes pretty darn good. I had a few moron moments with a wedge in hand inside 50y. I had a 3 putt from 18' that turned a birdie chance into bogey.
  23. Wait, scratch the previous entry. @GolfSpy TCB I managed to lift a better image off the interwebs. I present our team logo: #TeamNetBirdie #CashMeOusside #fishnetbird
