  4. I set a bunch of goals for this season including three rounds in the 70s, a bogey-free round, a round with 4+ birdies, etc. big goal is to win the Cup, but that’s more of a match to match thing and my only constant goal is to hit the next shot well.

  6. Date 04/19/2023 Course Name Brown Deer Park Golf Club Gross Score 77 Course Handicap 10 Gross Strokes over/under par 6 Net Score to Par -4 Net Score 67 Net Birdies or better 7 Longest Drive 265 The highlight of this round came on a par 5 into the wind. I hit my driver about 240 yards, then driver off the deck about 200 yards to leave 45 yards left to a front pin which was tucked just off the edge of the green and over a bunker. I hit a lob wedge to the rough right of the green, it bounced left and I watched in amazement as it disappeared into the cup for my first ever eagle.
  7. You might already know, but they do a badass demo program of most of their clubs. I forget exactly how the prices break down for other clubs, but I was able to demo their 699s (6i & 9i) for $20. They shipped them to my house and I had 10 days to try them out and ship em back. The feel convinced me to go for a fitting.
  8. I think they call it “The 70.” They welcome guests to come along with people being fitted and they’ve got a fridge full of beer. Might be worth talking a friend into a fitting just so you can tag along and see what it’s all about!
  9. I had a set of Taylormade 200s, R80 stock shafts, default lie and length, that I got as part of the perks of working in a bag room…about 20 years ago. I was definitely due for an upgrade, and a serious shift in specs. But I will say I did demo days for Taylormade and Mizuno before deciding on Sub70 and found all the OEM irons to be more or less adequate. But the feel and price of Sub70 set them over the top for me.
  10. I recently traveled a couple hours down to Sycamore, IL, a sleepy little town now with a large impact on my golf life. The fitting experience was well worth the drive, as it came with a free lesson first. Kevin doesn’t do fittings as is, rather, he fits for the swing you should strive for. Anyway. I tried out several of the player’s distance irons, zeroed in on the 659 CBs, and then tested out a number of different configurations. We settled on X100 shafts, 1/2 inch longer, and 1 degree up. I’ve only had the chance to play a few rounds since they arrived (a few days earlier than expected, by the way), but I’m already convinced that I made the right choice. I’ve gained 20 yards with all my irons and the consistency is something I’ve never even dreamed of. Plus they produce the kind of spin and attack angle to let me stick it close at will. The irons are beautiful to look at, well-balanced, and feel good off the face even on mishits. If you’re able to make it to Sycamore, I highly recommend setting yourself up with some new weapons at a great price.
