  1. I use a Garmin watch for the majority of the round. I’ve worn one for three seasons now and it has my club distances pretty much down save for wind variance. I’ll use my range finder for the approach shot to the green. My home course is a target golf course so I can honestly say it’s safer to pin seek just to keep your ball out of water.
  2. That's what I think everyone deserves at the core of it all. Unbiased help from someone who's genuinely curious to help you find your best swing tools. Thanks for the recommendation. Highland Park is close enough for me.
  3. That's the kind of stuff I like to hear, thanks! Now I wish we Golf-Spies had a Map to click on for goods/services in our respective areas. Wouldn't that be slick?
  4. Awesome! Thanks for the help. Maybe I'll look into an early Father's Day gift for myself.
  5. I've been thinking about this all winter. I played a poorly fit TS2 Driver for 3 years and finally walked into a PGA Superstore last spring and pulled a Demo sale TSi3 out of a barrel and had immediate improvement with it. So I bought it & it has served me well. But again, not perfectly. I thought living in Chicagoland it would be easy to find a well-known "Trusted" fitter to use but I have come up empty-handed. Google has come up short on in-depth reviews. I honestly thought I was gonna have to start a whole thread on the forum to get some names sent my way because I can't find any names or instances that aren't big box store related. So, If anyone wants to send me the name of a good driver fitter and a putter fitter North of Chicago up into Lower Wisconsin I'm all ears! Thanks
  6. I usually play the Titleist Tour Speed at my course since there is water on 15/18 holes. That way I don't have to cry when I "donate" a few. I've been working on a simulator quite a bit this winter and am impressed with the results I'm getting using the TP5 Pix ball. I may pick up a few dozen to test myself this spring. If all goes well, I could see buying in %100.
  7. As of right now, I have my dedicated mallet in the bag, one at work and one mallet as a back up. But I could easily have a different putter for every day of the week. Every time I go to my local PGA/Golf Galaxy, I give the used putter section a good long look. Always hoping to find that perfect match!
  8. Lefty, You take a quality photo! Are you using pro equipment? Interested to hear what you use.
  9. Very cool! It looks like we have musical instruments in common too? I'm a band director in public school. Love playing the saxophone! Not my main instrument, but I have a Yamaha YAS62 that is really nice. I often wondered why Yamaha didn't get into golf club-making...
  10. I have loved my Cleveland CBX, CBX2, & Zipcore wedges. I've got at 48 Zip, a 54 CBX2, and my original CBX in a 60 deg. When I saw the CBX4 article, I set my sights on replacing the 60 with one if it's not radically different from my CBX2. I am very much looking forward to trying them out in the next week or two!
  11. Welcome GJG!

I just peaked at who's online and saw someone with the same last name, so I thought I'd check out your bio.

    Looks like you are new?

I hope you enjoy the forum. Its a pretty friendly place to ask questions and get people's opinions.

    Take it easy!

  12. I used to be picky, nowadays not as much. I’ve realized that a ome of my lowest rounds or even my one Ace were played with cheap balls I had found in the woods. I like the idea of being “Green” and recycling, My home course is a ball eating machine with water along 15/18 holes. So I also like the idea of being frugal as well since many of my balls are “donated” to the course over 60 rounds I play there a year. (I play all my ProV’s on easier courses) I’ve used Lostgolfballs several times buying the Mint or near mint with zero complaints. so here is where I currently stand- last year I found a guy locally who has family that are grounds keepers at several courses in the area. They bring found balls to his garage every day where he cleans & sorts them and puts them in Tupperware bins in sets of 50. His garage walls are stacked floor to ceiling with every ball brand and model you could imagine. I’m like a kid in a candy store there. I’ll tell you this, it’s a super cheap way to try many different balls till you find the ball that meets your needs. Now for me, I’ve found that I can hit a titleist tour speed into the water and not get frustrated cause I only paid .70 cents for it. I know it’s not for everyone, but I’d say give ‘em try. It’s a small investment if you don’t like the used balls.
  13. I can report that I have had success with this as well. Admittedly, I thought for sure last year when I paid for the plan, it might not work out. But, I kept my receipts and in the 11th month took a pair in as evidence and they just let me walk out of the store with the identical new replacements. no questions asked. It was a good deal!
