  1. Good morning spies! I hope your morning is off to a cracking start. Just got up to work out and hit the bike again. Have to work on some grad school this morning so I can watch all of the basketball games tonight. The weather is finally starting to trend in the right direction, which means golf is close! Can't wait to jump back on the course and start working on my game. I hope you all have a thrilling Thursday!
  2. Good morning! Early morning for me today as I am trying to get back into the habit of working out. I haven't not been good about that lately and decided I need to kick it into high gear. Biked 5 miles to get it started pretty easy. Hopefully, this is a journey to consistent workouts. In other news, I booked a driver fitting at The Seventy for a Sub70 driver. Not this weekend, but the next weekend, I am meeting my father-in-law to get fit. I'm excited to try out their driver and talk to the professional. Going to get back into the golf season in full swing... pun definitely intended. Let's have a wonderful Wednesday!
  3. Holy guacamole it's like a match made in heaven. Those are absolutely stunning. Maybe a testing opportunity in the future...? @GolfSpy_APH
  4. Good morning! Up and at it this morning and feeling good! Last night, I was scrolling on Twitter and saw a beautiful, gorgeous, elegant picture that made me fall in love... take a look for yourself. Bettinardi forged irons... hot diggity dog those are nice. Let's have a terrific Tuesday!
  5. That's awesome that you are from the area! I was looking up Austad's and am leaning toward that location. It sounds like they are much more in-depth than other local places.
  6. I would agree 100%. Something that looks good behind the ball and promotes confidence will perform. The shaft has so much to do with the outcome. I really think a great golfer can look average with incorrect fitting. Vice versa as well.
  7. I agree that a more expensive option isn't always the greatest. Years ago, I had a HZRDOUS Smoke Black and loved it. Those shafts aren't nearly as expensive as a Ventus with Velocore. The shafts I have used from some of my high school players are Regular, Regular Plus, and Stiff flex. They also range from 55-70 grams. I would love to deep dive into trying a bunch of different options to fit my current swing. A swing which is much different than what it was two years ago.
  8. It's funny you bring up Club Champion. The whole reason I got thinking about this was because of their YouTube channel. I watch a lot of golf on Youtube and have been watching the Club Champion channel for a couple of years. They go in-depth into every fitting and really look at the data to support their claims. This is something I would love to experience.
  9. I have not. I have worked with a pro on driver lessons, but the consistency just isn't there. I would say it's more of a golfer problem and not a club problem, however, I am consistent with every other club in my bag.
  10. When I originally went to get fitted, I had my heart and soul on the Ping G425, however, that was the one driver I couldn't hit to save my life. I know the driver head is important, but the shaft has so much affect on the swing and result. That's why I am really questioning what to do.
  11. I think "Premium" is also up for grabs. There are plenty of other shaft options that aren't premium that may work better for me. I think it comes down to just going and trying out a bunch of options.
  12. This is kind of what I am leaning toward. The hardest part about that is the cost of something brand new with an upgraded shaft. I could be looking at $750+ which is a hefty price to pay. However, that makes me think about Sub70 options or getting a driver from 1 or 2 years ago to help balance the cost.
  13. Good morning! A busy weekend of NCAA basketball games for me. My wife and I went to meet her family in Chicago to watch the games. We got back yesterday and watched more of the games. I stayed up way too late for those games, so I'm off to a slow start today. The weather at least looks nicer today which means golf practice should be good. Let's make it through the day and have a marvelous Monday!
  14. I am currently gaming the Callaway Rogue ST LS driver. I was "fit" to the driver two years ago. I put that in quotations because I had never been fit for a driver before, and basically, the only thing I was fit for was the driver head. I previously had a 55-gram stiff flex shaft in a Taylormade M2 driver. I was swinging around 116-119 mph so that clearly wasn't the shaft for me. The guy who fit me just put me in an X-stiff shaft but didn't try different shaft options. I have never been able to hit my driver consistently or the way I want to. So, that got me thinking about trying new driver shaft options. I have been coaching high school golf this year and was working with some of the players this week on how to hit a driver. I haven't been bringing my driver into the range, I simply take their drivers and use them to demonstrate. Some of their drivers, which are not fit to me, are more consistent than my current driver. They all have different shaft options, so that really got me thinking... Is my driver shaft not the best option for me? I am looking for anyone who has upgraded their driver shaft, or at least changed to a different option, and is willing to share their thoughts on this. I want to go get fit again, but would probably look somewhere else to get a more in-depth fitting.
  15. Good morning, it's finally Friday! Kind of crappy weather today, with sleet and snow in the forecast. This week, I have been helping coach our high school golf team since we have so many players out. We have 32 players out for golf which is more than we have ever had. Helping players get better by making subtle adjustments and seeing their pure joy when improving is very rewarding. I love seeing young players get into the game of golf. And best of all, I'm getting a free membership to a Topgolf! Let's all have a phenomenal Friday!
  16. Good morning! A chilly day once again here in Iowa. I miss the spring weather had last week. Hopefully that makes its way back soon. Looking forward to a nice, productive day which leads into the weekend. I hope you all have a thrilling Thursday!
  17. Good morning! The nice weather has subsided and we are back to the cold and windy temperatures. Unfortunately, that means no golf for the extended future. My golf club sent out an email to all of the members stating that the course won't open until it's consistently above 50°. Sad to read that email, but the good news is it's only March and we have a long season ahead. Let's all have a wonderful Wednesday!
  18. Good morning! A nice day ahead with temps in the upper 50s today. Golf practice started yesterday and I am a volunteer coach for the school I work at. I love watching young players enjoy the game of golf. Continuously growing the game and finding a passion to get better is really fun to watch. I'm looking forward to watching the players grow and getting them improve along the way. Let's have a terrific Tuesday!
  19. Gooood morning spies! I hope your weekend is off to a kicking start. I've got family in town all weekend, so no golf for me. However, I'm looking forward to watching some basketball today with the family and having a nice, relaxing weekend. Have a wonderful weekend all!
  20. Good morning! Massage in an hour and 18 holes after that. Making up for a great Friday! I hope yall have a fabulous Friday!
  21. Good morning! My first day not going to a golf course in awhile. Rain all morning and a cold day. Planning on getting some stuff done around the house and then going with a friend to get his clubs fit to him. My wife just left for a small trip as well, so I've got the weekend to myself. Setting up for a good weekend! Let's have a thunderous Thursday!
  22. I got out for the 3rd day in a row which felt great. I played pretty well, but started my round not the way I wanted and ended the round not the way I wanted. They had me tee off on the 10th hole and play the back nine first. I went bogey, birdie, double bogey on my first three holes. I then shot +1 over the next 13 holes. I double bogeyed the second to last hole to shoot +6, 78. The course I play at is really difficult, so anything under 80 is pretty damn good. The weather looks crappy tomorrow, so I'll get a nice rest day in there. I'm ready to get back at it though.
  23. Good morning and happy Wednesday! The last day of nicer weather is today, so I am taking full advantage and hitting the course today. Tomorrow looks like crappy weather all day so I've got to get my fun in now! I hope you have a wonderful Wednesday!
  24. Back to back days of golf in awhile. Yesterday, posted a 79. Today I posted a 78. I golfed with a partner today which I am happy with. 1 birdie, 10 pars, and 7 bogeys. Had two nice par saves which helped the score out. Also missed a couple of birdie chances. At this rate, by the end of the week I will be elated!
  25. Good morning! Another beautiful day here in Iowa with temperatures nearing 70°. Tee time is set for 10:10 this morning, so getting ready for that. Time to get the coffee flowing and the day started! Have a terrific Tuesday!
