  1. It's interesting to see that he used to play PXG on tour and he's been winning so much after the switch to titleist... I think I saw that he is working with a new mental coach!
  2. Hey hey hey, hope everyone's morning is going stellar. I've been reading through a lot of the LIV and PGA merger stuff and all of your thoughts on it in various threads... With all the rain (yes, still raining) here in CO, it's nice to have some drama to fall back on when golfing isn't available.
  3. Over the last 2 weekends I played at Beaver Creek CC a few times because half of the course is still closed to bunker renovations. They've only got 9 holes open so I was able to get a few laps around those. Never ended up keeping score because I was just playing for fun with my family but I have noticed 2 things about my game right now. 1) I've got a pretty good streak of ball striking going on right now. I can't seem to hit the ball poorly. 2) With that superb ball striking, I can't aim to save my life. I may end up taking alignment sticks out on the course if it's empty enough to get some good alignment practice in.
  4. If you had asked me any other week I would have been able to I am closing on my first home this Friday and am spending all of my free time the following week packing boxes to move the 16th and 17th. I had completely forgotten this course in my initial recommendations, but Red Hawk Ridge isn't super expensive and has advanced booking with plenty of times and sub-$100 tee times+cart. Take a look!
  5. Good morning everyone, LETS GO NUGGETS!!! Originally growing up in South Florida has created some household tension on these NBA finals, but it's pretty apparent that the nuggets are going to pull this one off.
  6. Good morning everyone - pretty sad news regarding Colorado weather (again)... Looking like indoor sims are the way to go for the foreseeable future.
  7. Review posted - please enjoy! I'd love to know who of you would pick this up over your current gamer and why.
  8. Good morning, it looks like the Canadian smoke in Colorado is finally starting to dissipate and it's the first fully sunny and 75 day in a while... So I plan on spending all day finding myself a little afternoon tee time to take advantage of the weather!
  9. I live in Denver and can pretty much play whenever/wherever in the area - there are so many nice courses to do a meetup at!
  10. If money is no worry and you're proactive enough to reserve a tee time as early in advance as you can then I would recommend trying to get onto Fossil Trace GC in Golden, CO (about 20min outside of Denver) Some other great tracks south of Denver would be Arrowhead GC, The Ridge at Castle Pines North, and Bear Dance. North of Denver I would recommend Colorado National and Thorncreek GC Lastly, Denver has a HUGE municipal offering, some better than others. If you want to put the effort in to get a tee time, City Park is such a cool course pretty close to downtown with awesome views of the skyline.
  11. Date 05/22/2023 Course Name The Club at Inverness Gross Score 82 Course Handicap 13 Gross Strokes over/under par 12 Net Score to Par -1 Net Score 69 Net Birdies or better 6 Longest Drive 350 Had a really impressive front 9 shooting only 4 over (best 9 yet!!) but the rough on the back 9 was sitting at 3-4" of heavy grass, so getting shots out of there was absolutely brutal which led to my 8 over on the back... Overall really happy and hoping to break 80 soon!
  12. Not sure how many of you are familiar with XGolf but it's another simulator company and I bought myself an hour bay rental to work on wedges. I know, wedges on a sim isn't the most accurate form of practice but I really need to dial my 50-70 yard shots. I sat on that bay for 20 minutes hitting 50 yard shots and another 20 hitting 70 yard shots. Doing that really helped me get an idea of club control and it led to me scoring my best round yet over the weekend!
  13. Huge supporters of white pants. Have a pair of primos and adidas 365 pants and they are probably the most common in the rotation
  14. Played Legacy GC in Lakewood Ranch this last Monday while I was in Florida and I was surprised at how sneaky tricky this course was. I was having an awful round (14 over through 14) and ended up getting off the course after hole 14. The family was getting a little overheated and was looking to get out and get to dinner, so that was all that I was able to play (probably for the best). The course had some pretty holes with a ton of water!
  15. Good morning fellow spies, Just got back from FL visiting family and I must say that after not visiting for over a year, I forgot how crazy hot it is all of the time. No clouds and beating 100deg sun really validate my decision for staying in Colorado after graduating from college
  16. Played Saturday at TPC Prestancia in Sarasota, FL and the most glaring differences between golf in Florida vs. colorado is the 10-15 yards of carry lost from altitude/humidity as well as how HOT it is down there. I grew up in Florida but didn't play golf so I never understood the amount of sweat that would happen as a result of a round!! Aside from those hindrances, I had a relatively successful round at a +12 (from the middle tees, course hcp was a 12). Continued with my testing on the OnCore Vero X2 balls and boy did I make some interesting discoveries on that balls performance, specifically regarding spin, when it was able to perform in heavier air. With regards to the course, however, I wasn't the most impressed... I may have boosted expectations given that it was a renowned member of the TPC collection and in order to book a tee time, I had to use the Mastercard Experiences portal to have an agent book the time for me 2 weeks in advance. Not to say course conditions were bad but the layout itself was just... kind of plain. I didn't get any pictures because we were celebrating mothers day and I was too caught up in the moment, but coming from CO and playing mountainous courses with rocks and large hilly terrain, it seemed pretty point-and-shoot on most of these holes. I did play another round (unfinished) at Legacy GC in Lakewood Ranch, and that was much nicer in my opinion (that update will come soon)
  17. I do not play one course or one slope rating considerably more than others
  18. Funny thing is that I've been playing a lot of hard courses lately so I am an 11.4 handicap right now but only shot 11.4 or better on one course (an executive muni course) and have still yet to break 80 on a par-72. So needless to say I either need some really good scores on my ghin or I need to work towards a higher HCP haha
  19. Good morning all I am so ready to get out of Colorado and down to Florida. it's been raining here for 48 hours straight and everyone is hydroplaning on the highways and traffic is terrible and all indoor golf simulators are overflowing with demand. The weather in FL is supposed to be a little rainy too, but hopefully nothing like what I'm dealing with out here. Hoping for good weather for all of my fellow spies out there!
  20. I'm doing the member review for the Vero X2 ball right now and it's really forcing me to think about the value proposal that DTC golf ball brands (snell, pxg, vice, etc) have on the golf world. Sure, there will always be a place for the Pro V1x left dashes of the world, but in my experience so far there is no real downside (other than maybe case quality) for going DTC. It will be interesting once I finish up my report and testing but I may start gaming Vice Pro Plus's or TP5x's after this test (TP5x as a result of the buy 3 get 1 free and I'm a TM junkie)
  21. Good morning all, just got my confirmation that I will be playing TPC Prestancia this Saturday with my family down in Sarasota, FL for mothers day! After all of this golf in Colorado I'm interested to see how ball flight works out down south. I grew up in FL but only got into golf a little less than 2 years ago, so I never played while I lived down there. Should be a good opportunity to give the OnCore balls a valid test in varying conditions, I'm super excited to see how spin plays in a more humid environment.
  22. Can't wait to see the reviews go up on these. I'm most curious to see how the longer irons work for both testers as I know takomo also offers a combo set that I can't say I haven't been eyeing down
  23. Had a lot of fun playing a twilight time at the ridge at castle pines in Castle Pines, CO. This course is so pure and the grass is finally looking green for prime season. Played well and was hitting ropes with the driver (had one even go 343 yards) which led to a respectable +14 on a course hcp 13. Still need to work on iron shots while testing these OnCore Vero X2 balls because they have straighter ball flight than I am used to, but overall I'm enjoying the testing. Enjoy this picture from the tee-shot on 18 - it's a 200 yard carry over a canyon to the fairway out in the distance!!
  24. Played a couple more rounds with the X2 balls and I'm starting to notice some consistencies in ball flight both off the tee and with my irons and I can't wait to share those experiences in the review. For the most part I'm also noticing the lower ball flight off of the tee with these balls and I consider myself rather indifferent on that (all I care about is if the ball goes straight). However, I am still noticing less of a draw with these balls vs the ones I currently game (TP5x) and I really really need to get on the sim to figure these things out. I tend to aim a little right of the flag on approach shots with PW-6i because to do get a couple yards of draw normally, and with these I'm seeing more pin-high misses right. Here's a summary of the rounds Ridge at Castle Pines North (05/06/2023): Had a solid round here with +14 (course hcp 13), noticed the issue of missing greens right with the ball tremendously on the front 9 with 5 up-and-downs for par/bogey. Distances are very similar if not a couple yards longer with these as they can really compress and shoot off of the face with my swing speeds. Heritage Todd Creek GC (05/07/2023): Had a less solid round here with a +17 (course hcp 13). This was less the shaping of the ball and more missing fairways here. With an absolutely attrocious 3 fairways hit total, I fell apart getting GIR with balls in the rough. Greens weren't taking spin, rough wasn't producing flyers, and clubs went a variable 30-60yards shorter out of the rough if struck well. Early mistakes got in my head and that led to inconsistent play. However, the driver was on and the balls were flying straight off the tee (fairways were tight so it was more a course IQ issue than a straight issue) so I am happy to say the ball performed well AND I played the same ball for all 18 holes!
  25. Date 05/07/2023 Course Name Heritage Todd Creek GC Gross Score 89 Course Handicap 13 Gross Strokes over/under par 17 Net Score to Par 4 Net Score 76 Net Birdies or better 3 Longest Drive 329 Again like my ridge at castle pines round had a decent outing with the driver being lethal off of the tee. Much less FIRs and that led to some really hard shots into the green since the rough was really grabbing that day.
