  1. It has been a busy work week but let me say I had a great weekend that just passed. I had a chance to play at a charity golf tournament at Eagle Glen in Corona CA. Good course this is my 2nd time playing. The 1st time I played I was just starting out my golf playing days, this past Friday did great with the foursome we ended at -10. Also I have to gloat that I finally got the wifey out to the course on Sunday and we played with her cousin and husband. She was giving me resistance because she knew it was my thing but I was proud of her and she had a good time. The weather was rough the last 3 holes, rain came down but the ladies stuck it out and we just hit a few just to get through them. The first two pictures are from the golf tournament, 3rd and fourth from Fullerton golf course with the wife.,
  2. Good Morning Spies, been taking an unintentional break from the game. Has been a busy weekend and now that my kiddos are in full swing with soccer the week is filled with practices and Saturday games. Good thing for daylight savings time and maybe squeeze in a 9 here and there after work.
  3. Hello Spies, we went out this Past Thursday in a group of 10 to celebrate my little brothers birthday. He just started taking up the sport and that's what he wanted to do so who are we to suggest otherwise haha. Good times out there in Marshall Canyon in La Verne, playing amongst the deer's roaming free. The day was chilly with clouds and at the end we started seeing the sun come out. The greens are by fair the trickiest around I feel, the hole placements are difficult. The greens slope so much that if you are above the pin you will roll right past further than you were initially. I have improved my fairways hit from 30% to 70% by adjusting my grip and working on some split hand drills. Secondary and 3rds shots once again not consistent, but working on that next.
  4. It seems like many topics covered already and here are my sentiments below: 1) Slow play - we all were beginners at one point and I remember when I decided to play this sport the first thing I did was to look up some quick etiquette guides. Moral of the story is if your going to suck at least be fast about it. Recently I was been behind a two-some on a golf cart spraying balls everywhere and hitting multiple tee shots and it was the worst trying to get them to hurry on up. We were walking and kept having to wait for them to move on down the fairway. 2) Divots on the green - referring to the above if you are going to pick up the sport do some etiquette research and repair your divots and don't trash the greens! I hate it when you show up and you see all these divots everywhere!!!!
  5. We made it out this past Sunday to our local 9 before the storms hit again in SoCal. So I made improvements off the tee, pretty big about staying in the fairways but....my 2nd and or 3rd shots are not connecting . I will be focusing on hitting at grass ranges now, I feel hitting my irons off the mats are not transitioning to the course. I have found some local spots to hit chip shots as well as those 80-130 yards shots I have duffed, shanked or come up short. Still enjoyed spending quality time with my brothers and getting a cool 45 degrees walk in haha.
  6. Thanks we played in La Habra, Westridge Golf Course. I play in the OC/Anaheim and San Dimas/Riverside areas mostly. Same invite extended to you if your in the area hit me up.
  7. We got out to play this Saturday, after booking a foursome little by little the golf bros dropped out. So I ended getting my actual brothers to fill in haha. Lets just say the course was very soggy after all this rain we have had in SoCal. The course was cart path only, sand traps were cement and you can tell due to the soggy turf no mowing took place. I feel courses should disclose this type of stuff when they finally opened it back up after the rain and lower the price to play these type of conditions. We only got to the 14th due to pace of play was also slow, tee time was at 1:16PM and we abandoned the course at 5:35 PM as it was way to dark by then. All in all it was still fun getting the practice in and still improving, I didn't slice a drive all day so I am happy for that. We did get in some good views of the snow capped mountains and the city lights.
  8. Good Morning Spies, SoCal rain has finally ceased. Look at the beauty left behind near our mountains. Golf courses around my area are open to cart path and walking only due to the soggy conditions. Looking forward to my tee time this Saturday hoping the course conditions will improve by then.
  9. Good Morning Spies, still raining in Socal not allowing to do much of practicing my swings and putts. Looking forward to Saturdays tee time, playing at 1PM hoping we get through all 18 before it gets too dark.
  10. We made it out Sunday before the football games, did a 9 walking on our local course. Good day to be out with the bros, as you can see they were using their new toys, push carts lol. So why cant all aspects of the game work at the same time, hit 5/7 fairways with the driver but my approach / chip shots were not on point this day. I learned some valuable lessons and will take that to the practice range. Any day you get to go and golf is good day. Don't mind my smirk I was chewing on a granola bar haha.
  11. Good Morning Everyone, Weather is cloudy down here in southern Cali. 10-15 day outlook shows more rain creeping in at the end of next week, trying to get out this weekend and maybe at the beginning of the week for a round .
  12. In a bit of a conundrum, wanted to get out this Monday but due to all the rain in Socal it didn't materialize. I am trying to see if I should play during the end of this week and skip a day of work haha. I will most likely just hit my local golf course and do the 9 holes there early morning on Sunday.
  13. I barely made the cut on purchasing in 2023 haha, I ended up getting 2 more Callaway MD5 wedges to finally have all wedges the same. I needed to replace my golden bear 60 degree wedge. I noticed from my brother that he was getting his ball to stop and mine was rolling away farther. We did use the same ball as well so no difference there. I did more research and did my own backyard testing and sure enough noticed the lower spin. I took them out once already and very pleased with them and noticed the difference immediately with how quickly they were biting and stopping.
  14. Thanks for this, I couldn't of said it better from the intro "There are some courses that have gotten out of control, charging consumers astronomical rates. In a lot of cases, the experience of playing on these layouts doesn’t merit the exorbitant cost." I just played a course this weekend that was dubbed a country club but the fee's did not merit the course experience. I've played other courses near the area that are lower in cost and have been great to play in.
  15. We managed to get out this past Sunday 1/14/24 for a round at 7 am. We southern Californians call this cold weather, mid 50's haha. Sorry to those that cant go out out and play that are in colder weather and snow. Well we got to play a course that we have been curious about which is a "country club" open to the public. The course was good but we all agreed to not pay that price for a round there if possible. The bunkers had rocks and pebbles in them, how do I know you ask, I spent a few holes in a few. Overall not bad of a morning, greens were tough fast and the balls did not want to stick on the greens from approach shots. Decent first round for the start of 2024, bummed I totally forgot to take pictures while out and playing on the course.
