  1. Interesting. I can’t wait to get out and do some more putting soon. We still have snow on the ground.
  2. I don’t know much about either of those bags but I do know Sun mountain makes good bags so probably can’t go wrong with either.
  3. They didn’t have the shaft upgrade available for me in the shaft I needed so I was unfortunately unable to try the upgraded shaft. Main standout to me is the customization of the weight in the head. I’m still messing around with the weights to see what I like.
  4. Thanks! I got out last week and got in 27 more holes. Had 35 putts in 18 and then 18 on 9. Putts were not falling for me but I felt like I’ve been struggling to read greens lately so I’m am putting it more on me than the putter. Really like the quality of the putter though. Definitely with you on these LAB putters peaking my interest.
  5. My concern is the knock offs being cheap and breaking on me Yea I got the blast motion system and ended up finding used super speed sticks from 2nd swing for $90 so went that route.
  6. Looking at getting something for swing speed training and was curious if anyone has used some of the cheaper products on Amazon with success? The stack is out of my budget but some of the options on Amazon that were less than $100 were peaking my interest. Just don’t want to get something that is crap quality and regret it. Reviews on the following seemed decent but in general I feel like Amazon reviews have to be taken with a grain of salt.
  7. Yea a lot of courses near me are closed but a few still open. Plan on getting out cuz it’s going to be upper 50s
  8. Updated my review to be complete. Would like to say a big thank you to @GolfSub70 for the opportunity to test their putter. It is definitely going in the bag for now and replacing my Odyssey OG 7 putter. Sadly the weather has shut down golf in my area so I’ll have to wait till spring to get out and use the putter more. Definitely recommend giving their putters a good look if you are in the market for a new putter.
  9. Well we got 4 inches of snow yesterday so I’d say golf season is done in my neck of the woods. I’ll be finishing up my review by end of next week and getting it posted
  10. Pretty much how it’s been looking here. Cold and wet. Going to work on typing up the rest of my review.
  11. Temps are already in the 40s for me and they are talking snow in a few days already.
  12. I put the 20g weights on it for now. I like the heavier weight but would like to mess with more weight differences to see if it affects performance for me. I think the weather has really worsened in my neck of the woods and I’m not sure I’ll be getting out to golf anymore this year. Will be working on updating my review fully this week.
  13. Went out and played 18 today. It honestly did not go well. I shot what I would call a very ugly 90. I could not read a putt to save my life and had multiple 3 putts. I had overall 37 putts which is usually the high side of my range of putting outcomes. I do not attribute my poor putting today to the putter. There were some tricky pin locations today where if you missed you had a hard putt coming back. I had one putt I read so bad that I ended up 10 ft left of the hole. I read it as pretty straight with minimal right to left break. It was downhill and I hit the ball with perfect distance but it proceeded to break a solid 10 ft to the left. Got to my ball and then you could see the slope causing the break which oddly enough you could not see from the other angle. So that’s just how the day went lol. I did make several decent length putts including a nice 15 foot putt for par. I had a lot of tap in 2nd putts as well. So while the numbers don’t look good today for the sub70 putter I will attest it was most certainly the one holding the putter today that was the problem. I consistently hit my line where I was aiming all day aside from one that I pulled. And of course it’s fall golf so I’ll include some photos.
  14. Played a 9 hole round today. Didn’t have my best round of putting but I was hitting my lines and I had no 3 putts at all. I don’t think it would have made a difference if I was using my old putter for today. I had one putt that I did pull that I would have made if I didn’t pull it. Otherwise it was just a day of misreading the green or a matter of how hard to hit the ball. 17 putts on 9 holes is pretty much within range for what I can typically expect on 9 for typical day. I took video on this hole with about a 25-30 ft putt. Hit it a bit hard and put it 5 ft past the hole. I was able to sink the 5 ft downhill bender for par after. You can mostly see the overall roll of the ball and the sound. IMG_1308.mov Oh and a couple pictures of the course cuz fall golf in Wisconsin is great for the colors.
  15. That’s awesome. I’m planning on getting on the course this week. Been working nights all week and it’s been cold/rainy all week. Should be upper 50s later this week. Glad to see you are liking the sub70. I agree it’s definitely different going from insert to no insert but the feel is still really good I’ve felt. I haven’t played on the course with mine yet but all my testing to this point I’m leaning towards it being in the bag.
  16. Both my odyssey and the sub70 I got are all steel shaft so I can’t comment to anything with the graphite/steel combo
  17. So I spent a solid hour at that practice green putting tonight and did a couple tests. First test I got out my tour aim and set it up to aid in aiming a set of putts with both the sub70 004 and my odyssey white hot OG 7. For this test I set up roughly 20 ft from the hole and placed the ball under the middle alignment stick so that as far as aiming I was consistent. For each putter I hit 7 putts doing my best to focus on staying consistent. I wanted to focus on how the ball rolled. Did they all remain consistent with the line. What kind of grouping would they finish with. Results of the first test Sub70 004 Oddysey OG 7 As far as results go for this test things were quite similar. I made one putt with each putter and the others are a matter of distance control. Slight edge goes to the sub70 as the overall grouping is just a bit tighter but as you can see the balls are mostly in a vertical line which can be accounted for with me not quite perfectly consistent with my distance control. To note these greens are faster in general and this putt had bit of a break from left to right. It was fairly flat as well. After this I decided to do something a little different. There were 3 holes on the practice green so I made my own little course. I would putt from one hole to the next until I got back to the original hole. I did a total of 2 rounds (1 with each putter) and then reversed the course and did the holes in the opposite direction. I did a total of 12 holes with each putter. Each round (total 4 rounds with putter) I played all 3 holes with the same putter and then switched putters and started back at hole 1. So 3 holes with sub70, then 3 holes with odyssey, then back to sub70 and so forth. I figured while I would have an idea of the line this would lessen the impact by playing two other holes before repeating. I’ll add some pictures of each hole with some distances. Hole 1 - 33 ft - slight uphill then downhill hole 2 - 26 ft downhill with decent right to left break hole 3 - 42 ft - uphill then down and right to left break hole 1 reverse - 42 ft - downhill with left to right break hole 2 reverse - 26 ft - uphill with left to right break hole 3 reverse - 33 ft - downhill with right to left break right at the hole And the results Round 1 sub70 hole 1 - 2 putts - tap in for 2nd (1 ft) Hole 2 - 3 putts - 2nd putt 13 ft short Hole 3 - 3 putts - 2nd putt 12 ft short Total 8 putts Round 1 oddysey Hole 1 - 3 putts - 6 ft for 2nd putt Hole 2 - 2 putts - 2nd putt about 2.5 ft Hole 3 - 3 putts - rimmed out from 6 ft on 2nd putt Total 8 putts Round 2 sub70 hole 1 - 2 putts - 2nd putt from 2 ft Hole 2 - 3 putts - 2nd from 7 ft Hole 3 - 3 putts - 2nd from 6 ft Total 8 putts Round 2 oddysey hole 1 - 2 putts - 6 inches for 2nd Hole 2 - 2 putts - 2 ft for 2nd Hole 3 - 3 putts - 5 ft for 2nd putt Total 7 putts Round 3 reverse sub 70 hole 1 - 3 putts - 2nd putt rimmed from 5.5 ft Hole 2 - 2 putts - 2nd from 6 ft Hole 3 - 3 putts - 2nd from 7 ft Total 8 putts Round 3 reverse odyssey hole 1 - 2 putts - 2nd from 12 ft Hole 2 - 3 puts - 2nd from 6 ft Hole 3 - 3 putts - 2nd from 7 ft Total 8 putts Round 4 reverse sub 70 hole 1 - 2 putts - 2nd from 3.5 ft Hole 2 - 3 putts - 2nd from 9 ft Hole 3 - 2 putts - 2nd from 4 ft Total 7 putts Round 4 reverse odyssey hole 1 - 2 putts - 2nd from 2 ft Hole 2 - 3 putts - 2nd from 9 ft Hole 3 - 3 putts - 2nd from 6 ft Total 8 putts Sub 70 for 12 holes - 31 putts Odyssey for 12 holes - 31 putts Overall the hour I spent on the putting green with the tests I did give me confidence that at worse the performance of the sub70 004 putter matches the performance of the oddysey white hot OG 7 putter. I gave a slight advantage to the odyssey putter as I started every round with the sub70. So I had more idea of the right line when I hit with the odyssey. End result both putters I took 31 putts for 12 holes. While it was not my best performance (I typically don’t miss some of these 5-7 ft putts as I did today) I set up some tough long putts to try to get some differentiation and did my best to prevent bias. At this point I have no problem moving the putter to my bag as I do prefer the look of the sub70 to the odyssey. I also feel I have a bit better control of the head with it being heavier. Next step will be to get out on the course and see if I’m still liking what I’m seeing.
  18. Prior to the adjustment there was a slight wobble to the roll (very subtle) After the adjustment the roll was perfect. I use a line to line up my putts and you can see it roll end over end perfectly.
  19. Yea that most certainly surprised me too. I ordered a standard lie so should have been 72. Interesting too that they said the loft was 4 as on the site it says 3 for the standard loft. Is now be curious what others would find if they took their putters in and had the loft and lie angles double checked.
  20. Stopped at golf Galaxy tonight to make adjustments to my putter. They did not change the loft (it was actually at about 4 degrees already and the odyssey was at 3 per their measurements). They did change the lie though. The lie on the sub70 was about 68-69 degrees he said the odyssey was 71. The lie adjustment seemed to do the trick and the 004 seems to be rolling even better now. I will note that the guy doing the adjustments at golf Galaxy immediately made comment to how good looking the putter was especially the all black look and that the quality was really good. I mentioned the price it would run for and he was surprised it was that good of a price especially for something that he felt was comparable to a Scotty based on his initial observations.
  21. 2nd this. I know I have a different putter head with the 004 but I upped the weights to the 20g weights and feel like I have a little extra control.
  22. Last night I played around with mishits with the putter. I purposely hit near the toe and heel to see how difference in feel was. I did not pay much attention to the roll as my basement is not exactly flat. Mishits off the toe and heel did feel slightly different with the 004 putter but the difference was overall minimal. I did the same thing with my oddysey og 7 and the difference of toe and heel hits was a much more significant difference. I suspect this is likely related to the fact the og 7 has the white hit instead. With off center hits definitely prefer the sub70 to the odyssey white hot.
  23. Added my first impressions to the original post today. Was putting a bit on my mat at home tonight and knowing at my recent fitting that they said I needed more loft I purposely set up to make sure I was hitting more up on the ball and immediately noticed a better roll off the face and could feel the difference. I’m going to go take the putter to golf Galaxy tomorrow or Friday and have them adjust it to match my odyssey putter loft which I got fit with.
  24. It was my initial putts. I suspect I was moving the club slower with the heavier weight and subconsciously expecting more energy transfer
  25. Managed to get out to do a little practice on the putting green this evening. Had two kiddos with me (6 year old that was not listening very well and 10 year old who was doing great) so putting testing was not fully what I wanted to do. I did get some insights though. Overall I did not notice much if any difference in the roll of the ball off the putter Vs my OG 7 putter. The big difference I noticed was more in the feel of hitting the ball. Whereas the white hot felt more muted and soft the sub70 was definitely more defined of a sound and more feedback from actually hitting the ball. Something that I’m most certainly not used to however I didn’t dislike it. Might just take a little time to get used to the difference in feel. I did a series of putts from roughly 20 ft with both putters which samples of 6 balls. Groupings of the putts were very similar in end result between the two putters. Nothing in significance of difference. I played around with weights and need more time to give true feedback here as changing the weights did seem to have some differences but I need a larger sample to give better thoughts on that. The lighter 5 g weights made the putter feel like my OG 7 without an insert and the heavier weights definitely changed things. Felt like I was hitting the ball shorter at first with heavier weights. Overall so far I’m quite pleased with the putter and was happy with what I saw on the practice green today. From about 23 ft I hit 6 balls and sank 2, 2 were literal tap ins and then 2 from about 3 ft. This sample was without trying to line up the putt using the lines I draw on my ball which I will definitely be doing more of when I don’t have kids with me lol. I also plan on varying distances more and will bring some pictures next time lol.
