  1. That's fantastic!! I have bought clubs in the past from 2nd Swing as I have two identical sets and keep one at both my homes so I don't have to travel them but was completely unaware they had fittings and even more a retail outlet??? I thought it was strictly online and feel iam either blind or they are missing the marketing mark??? You are the 3rd person I've heard of having a negative experience at PXG as my good buddy just went there out west and said the "pro" was drunk from the night before and reeked of booze and didn't listen to a word he said. Sad. Good stuff and I learned something this morning my day is complete!!!
  2. It's been a very enjoyable forum to be a part of and to realize there are other guys like me who really love this game and the variables it brings into play!!!
  3. I have been hitting the PING drivers since G400 which was leaps and bounds better than G and G30 but then it stalled in my opinion with G410 and G425 I saw almost no improvement and actually some of my spin got worse but then they made the G430 10k and wow its the real deal, Ball speed, spin and in my opinion something that they have ignored for years was the hideous sound they made. This new driver sounds like pure power without the broken glass sound they were famous for. To me there is no better feeling/sounding driver than a Titleist but now PING is right there and with the forgiveness I've not found with other clubs. I have a graphic on my SIM that shows 10 heel strikes 10 center hits and 10 toe strikes either high or low and the spin goes up an avg of only 50 revs on Toe and 2yds offline and 40 revs heel and 3 yds offline. I couldn't come close to that with any other offeriing
  4. Drinking one as iam reading these messages!! So good and just a great start to a day
  5. I went back to read the original question and it sounds like maybe it was one of those deals where you never hit the clubs they just sold you something that you never hit??? Did they charge you for this service and call it a fitting??? Also when I put the JPX hot metal it was just a graphic the lofts are the same between the players distance and the Game Improvement hot metal and Forged. Also am I reading correctly that you have read that because of your swing speed and such you have determined you have the wrong clubs?? I'm not sure how that one could figure that out or did you go out and play with them and didn't like them,?? I'm curious as my buddy is looking for a set of Stealth and he loved them and only had his for like five rounds and they were stolen out of his car. He is an 8 hdcp and swore he would be a 6 by summers end I feel. Bad for him he was excited about the clubs so I know a guy who would gladly take those off your hands!!! So back to the question I have had very good luck with fitters that run small independent golf shops and I've heard good things about the fittings at PGS SS a fitting will cost between 100 and 150 bucks usually and most shops will apply that towards the purchase of clubs should you choose to buy
  6. Well again the JPX Forged are 31° which is a hot loft. All of these irons are between 29 and 31° which is 4 to 5° hotter than traditional so I do understand your question but I don't think you were misled in any way you obviously hit the irons the fitter suggested right??? Generally with a fitting they will ask you about your current gamers and have you hit a few to see if the shaft you are using is where they want to start. They will then put usually a demo 7 iron head on a comparable shaft and have you hit 7 to 10 shots and ask you your opinion on feel and sound and look over the numbers with you. You will usually repeat this with five or six of the new offerings depending on where you want to be. You make your choice and hopefully everyone wins. Now with that being said I've also heard of "fittings" at big box stores where some kid has you hit a couple and then tries to sell you something that is physically not there. If that was the case and I missed that part you are correct in him not being trustworthy. What was the issue you were having with the TM irons??? I do know someone looking for a set of TM game improvements
  7. Are you getting that spin fairly constant with your driver??? And is the launch angle consistent around 18°??
  8. The JPX the Srixon ZX5 and the PXG are all distance irons. You would be hard pressed to find any cavity back irons today that are not strong lofted "player distance" irons its just a broad term it they use for marketing. They had to do something as the latest and greatest were getting no gains as they had maxed the tech out so they all started tweaking loft so really the only traditional stuff left are like blades and such where a 7 iron is 35° instead of 29 or 30 so not sure why you feel slighted those are both decent sets that were the step up from what you were using????
  9. Everyone has their thing that works for them but i dont like any more than 4° gap so i use a 48 52 56 60 Vokeys and the 48 is my pw i don't carry a Ping PW I don't like the wedges that come in the iron sets but whatever works for us is what's best
  10. It worked because pretty much any club other than Cobra works well low on the face but something with them just doesn't work. I had an LTD and an F8 and F9 And sold them all
  11. It creates a repeatable stroke which in my opinion is the only way to have consistency. It worked quite well for me and keeps me from "slapping" at the ball
  12. So when I've used a fitter they are always transparent with the data and you don't need to be an Aerospace engineer to understand the numbers you are looking for so I guess my question would be how could a fitter scam you??? I guess if they knew how to hack a GC Quad or something but as a whole I don't see it happening or they would be labeled a hack real quick
  13. They are really nice looking units!! I wanted Cobra to work for me but I tend to hit the ball low center and for some reason every Cobra driver I hit penalizes me terribly for low on the faces strikes but as far as looks go?? They are a winner!!!!
  14. So if you have a good SIM you can kind of monitor your fit yourself. Heck Cheyenne has way more train track than I've ever seen anywhere!! And the hunting is next level so you have that!!!
  15. I used to but since we built the GC Hawk in my shop iam pretty much able to swing by my buddies golf shop and grab a handful of demo sticks and figure it out myself it's nice having the data available and as you said as we get better or worse our swings change and resting on a years old fitting isn't smart either
  16. The value is in being fitted for every club in your bag. You can kind of figure putter out yourself by rolling a bunch and seeing what works but from Lob Wedge to driver if you are not being fitted you are not maximizing your options bit that's not to say you cannot learn to hit what you have and I wouldn't sell all your stuff and take a beating. Just remember as you start to buy more get fitted
  17. I will assure you that 19 out of 20 people hit the TSI any number 20 yds past that 915. Sound , feel and power far superior to 915
  18. Thoughts are that's a great setup!!!! Welcome
  19. Yeah it's well worth it and most places offer your fitting fee to serve as a payment on the new club.
  20. Yep!! My biggest putting gains came from an older gentleman at my club he told me your follow thru should be 3x the length of your takeaway. Not sure where that came from but it worked for me and it's possible it was just a tool to let my mind relax and flow??
  21. I thought about that and when I travel back north I will as photos will help but you obviously caught the jist of it!! For an arc stroke it's really a great way to see where in your stance you want the ball and what the putter face stance is at impact.
  22. That is some really interesting data!! Seeing a ball hit at a higher launch angle with a lower peak height and substantially less carry makes you wonder what's up with the Bridgestone??? The old ProV is a tough go as who knows bit that Taylormade appears to have some serious pop as does the Callaway pretty good consistent shots launch wise and peak. Hard to do!! I love it put a gold star on your forehead A+
  23. I've seen my friends do it over and over again!!! I have a buddy named Tim and we call him Timbo Slice because he constantly hits this ridiculous towering "superfade " So he aims into the woods about 100yds out and left of the tee box and hits the ball which most often crosses the fairway and stops in the rough on the other side. He was hitting on my GC HAWK and driver peak height was 167ft and launch angle like 23° I had him hit a reg flex with low launch qualities and adjusted a driver to 8° and he hit a baby fade 270 instead of 220 but needless to say he had bought what Justin Thomas had and with no fitting or even demo he bought irons and a driver??? So his spin is like 6500 to 8000 and even though he pounded the club I set up for him with only 3010 spin he wouldn't hit it again nor would he try the ProV1 he is stuck on ProV1X which is a spinner???? Whatever he owns the name Timbo Slice and always will
