My handicap ballooned up to a 6.1, due to playing on a partially separated shoulder last season. I have so few rounds entered that it's counting a pair of 79s and an 82. Now that my body and game is back in shape, I'm 3 solid rounds from being back down under a 3.

Yes, Bio Cell Pro. I have the whiteboard in the XR Pro and I love it. I have Fuji Speeder TS 7.2X in both the SLDR and BCP.BCP? Bio Cell Pro?
Which one of those did you put the whiteboard in? And how did you like it?

Soooo.....
Back to the task of beating the SLDR. The XR 16 Pro is a beast. It is long and really straight. You've seen me hit the driver and I have to actually work to make the ball go left or right, instead of it just going left all the time. My FWs are up 18%, part of that is due to the driver, part is due to working hard on a swing change this winter. SLDR has been demoted to number 3, behind the XR Pro and BCP.

Go older. The only thing able to kick the SLDR out of my bag is the Bio Cell Pro. I am getting ready to give the XR Pro a go though.

Ok I've got something I bet nobody has done recently. I went 0-14 on fairways today. Zero out of fourteen. It got to be a running joke throughout the round.
It was 50* and cloudy with 20mph winds out of the north. Tough conditions to say the least but I played even worse than that.
Worst round of the year 84. Also this was my first round putting crosshanded. Not sure if it will stick but we'll see.
What's worse, that or hitting 13/14 and shooting 79 with 6 three putt bogies? In my defense, it was the first time this year that they double cut and rolled the greens, they went from about a 4 to a 12 and I was hitting it 10' past the all day.

I use Martini tees. I maybe lose/break one a season. I only use them with driver though, anything else, I just pick up a broken tee on the box.

Pain is no laughing matter, but......Oh well, there's boxing on HBO tonight so that should help a little.
It could be worse, you could be Jean Pascals face.
Hope you get to feeling better soon.

Well, I played the most frustrating round ever, couldn't do anything right. Almost snapped every club in my bag and threw them into the lake. It seemed like any time I did hit a good shot, I three putted for bogey. I was so blinded by fury, that I didn't even notice that I also threw in 7 birdies and at the end of the day, I had a 75. Theres a lot to be said for keeping your cool on the course.

Trump Ferry Point opened for tee times today. It's New Yorks first new course in 52 years. What an amazing view.

I'm the guy that plays the tips "to get his money's worth." Dan, Bones, Rick and Theoo can attest to that.
I thought the hardest hole at Mirimichi was #9, but #15 is up there.
I always play the tips, because that's how I roll. I really don't remember 9. I remember 10, because I kicked it's a$$ and I remember 15, because it kicked my ass.

Well, I can't really decide what the toughest course I've played is, so I'll just go with the toughest holes. Each of those courses had holes that could be "had", but they also had some of the most diabolical.
The Donald Ross at French Lick, specifically holes 6, 13, & 15. It's not often you come across a course with TWO 250yd par 3s and a nearly 700yd par 5.
Mirimichi, hole #15. I have played this course 3 times and I'm +10 on it; its 453yds of pure hell. Last round there I took a 10 after losing a ball off the tee, then getting stuck in the greenside pot bunker. HATE that hole.

Congrats on your first 300yd drive, hopefully many more to come.

"Iron Pythons"......I'm rolling.
Great review.

My game has peaked at the worst time.........the very end of the season, with probably a 1-2 month layoff. My last three rounds were great. Beat my NCAA D-1 playing cousin (9 holes), shooting -2 to his -1. Followed that up with a even par round of 70 (39-31). Then this week, I played my cousin again for a full 18. He is 21 now, so we played for a beer. We were both even par on the 17th tee; he finished birdie-birdie, I finished par-par. I will gladly take a 68 to 70 loss any time, especially to a D1 player that is #1 on his team. Now if only I can keep it going throughout all of next year.

Great review, John. Great story also, I love when someone can create a successful business out of their passion...it always shows in the work.

Had a great discussion with a golf course owner in Nevada about discount golf and his views that it's killing the industry.
I didn't have the hard to tell him that I don't pay full price for rounds and if a place doesn't offer discounts I don't normally play there unless it's a MUST PLAY track (I got into golf after the start of the discount wars, so it's what I expect)
Now I just need to show this article to my wife so she can understand that $80 is considered bargain golf
I think thats BS. There are so few people using them that it's not hurting a course and the course doesn't have to offer them. Here is where it HELPS.......a course here struggled to book tee times in the middle of the day (11:00AM-2:00PM) during the summer, so they started offering discount through GolfNow for $16 (normal $40) during those times. They sold out those tee times almost every day, where they had maybe 4-6 groups during that time frame before offering the discount. So while they are offering play at a deep discount, it's better than not having anybody there at all.

Here is another of the Top 100....
Kearney Hills, Lexington KY
Pete Dye designed
Cost: $17 - $34
I still need to get over there and play that course. My despise of UK basketball is keeping me away.

I personally think there need to be more articles like this. This is an article from Golf.com that is broke down below. In the age of GolfNow and other such sites, does anyone even pay full price to play a round of golf? I don't. I would however pull out the pocketbook for one of the below courses. I know a few people on here have played Bethpage, but has anyone played any of the other courses on this list? Without further ado the top ten with their top 100 ranking in parenthesis.
Bargain courses you can play in the top 100 (according to Golf.com)
10. Dancing Rabbit - Azaleas (#32) Choctaw, MS $60-$130
9. Bulle Rock (#48) Havre de Grace, MD $79-$130
8. Forest Dunes Golf Club (#21) Roscommon, MI $69-$149
7. Lakota Canyon Ranch & Golf Club (#90) New Castle, CO $99
6. Circling Raven Golf Club (#91) Worley, ID $65-$95
5. The Quarry at Giants Ridge (#52) Biwabik, MN $62-$89
4. World Woods - Pine Barrens (#36) Brooksville, FL $40-$119
3. Paa-Ko Ridge Golf Club (#31) Sandia Park, NM $50-$117
2. Bethpage Black (#4) Farmingdale, NY $65-$150
1. Rustic Canyon Golf Course (#97) Moorpark, CA $36-$81

If it has to be somebody today, then I guess Ben is out. Too bad, I could go with that. So I choose Jack. Yes, he and Arnie are still relevant, especially to us old guys.
In my mind, Tiger is too controversial, both on and off the course. Now injury prone; no majors in over six years, and not that personable. Rory hasn't been around long enough; maybe in a few more years. Phil's personable, but streaky and he's not on a good streak right now. The other guys? Well... no.
I changed my original post. I meant somebody as they are today.......just didn't want anybody saying "Tiger Woods of 2000".
I think Ben Hogans name today can sell as much or more as anybody.
How'd you play?

I feel your pain, I was in Chicago last week with single digit highs and negative lows.............but the real kick in the balls was that I was staying at a golf resort.
