  1. Try this, take your normal stance so you are correctly aligned then move your left foot rearwards slightly, (half to a whole foot), then swing as normal, this helps clear the hips and is less of a strain on the body for us older types. It does not affect your alignment as you were already correctly aligned to start with.
  2. Magnesium burns really well, I have done accident investigation and recovery after helicopter crashes and the main gearboxes are often Magnesium and they BURN HOT, take a few shavings and expose to a spark and you have fireworks. Mag alloy however is not as flammable nor is it as conducive to corrosion; ever seen - or heard - a main gearbox recovered from a sea crash? It sizzles for weeks. That said Magnesium is a very strong material, which is why it is, or used, to be used extensively in aircraft structure. I would be surprised if it were pure Mag. Have you never seen sparks fly from un
  3. There's a National P&P Team!!!?? Who knew, and I live a couple of hundred yards away from a nice P&P course. Chance for me yet, although I went there a few days ago to try out the Visions in peace and quiet on a short course. They really excelled there except that I rediscovered my shank that I thought I had lost. Let's face it most of never get our balls to spin on the green, do we? Most of us are using the wrong balls anyway. These handle so well on this type of course 85 yards and in that they must help almost anyone's short game. I practiced using a variety of irons and wedg
  4. You guys have me intrigued with the Pinkie, trying to get my mate in Brisbane to get me some if he ever responds to his email. Not played too much lately for various reasons, job hunting mostly. I have enjoyed using all the balls, not sure yet which I prefer as my swing has been erratic, but all the balls work well for me. I think I prefer the UV X3, I find they definitely release nicely on chips, pitches and flops onto the green. All the balls do. All the balls take wedge damage well and clean up nicely and feel good when hit. Brillo pad works well. I have hit a few in practice against
  5. ...and don't forget this tip we use in the aircraft industry: bend it until it breaks then back it off a bit.
  6. I think the only way this can work is with a low spin ball, no amount of dimple technology can correct ball flight so far as I can see. Its all in the club face, speed and angle of hitting the ball (inside/outside swing). Prove me wrong though and let me try these. Although with the self correcting clubs and a self correcting ball and all the gain 15-30 yards off the tee advice, one can't go wrong. Makes the game so much easier.
  7. er...Michelle Wie? BTW are there any females on this forum?
  8. AW, have you been to the UBC Golf Club lately? $59 a round. Mon - Thur. Was $75 in summer. Even the rich and famous would rather play there, could not find a parking spot among the Maseratis. Best short course in Richmond is Country Meadows at $39. Sunset/twilight time prices not much of a value right now, sun sets at 19:45 which means that for a 19:00 tee time one can't get 9 holes in. The little things about customer service that go missing. Local courses punched the greens but did not discount. Gotta love putting on the beach.
  9. Whatever you get, and $325 is a lot to pay!, do not go to this guy to get it fitted http://forum.mygolfspy.com/topic/2128-worst-club-build-ive-ever-seen/page__pid__31600#entry31600
  10. One of our local courses, Quilchena, is private and offered me a killer deal: $10,000 off the entrance fee and only $250 a month. Tempting.
  11. ...so the customer complains to the store manager and shows him the "handiwork", the manager has a fit and has the "technician" on the carpet and tells him he is fired. He says "that is the worst club fitting I have ever seen". "Oh no", says the tech, "I have seen worse than that and in this workshop" If you can show me a worse job than that you can keep your job" says the manager. So the tech goes in the back of his workshop and brings out a horrendously worked wedge. "You are right" says the manager, "that is by far the worst job I have ever seen, far worse than yours, who did that one"?
  12. I have to agree Tyk, green fees here in Canada can be steep, typically $75 and up for a par 71 course, $40 for an "executive" length course. I have been on some of my local full length courses for 5.5 hours! Even the short ones, because they pump so many people out, can take 3,5 hours. Such fun to arrive at a tee and find 3 other groups waiting. That does put people off. I suggested that all four should tee off at the same time, sort of "Salvo Golf" would speed things up, got strange looks. I end up trying to play twilight or sunset just because it is cheaper.
  13. Not while they pay obscene amounts for players to use their products; unless they choose to sponsor me then I withdraw my comments. most OEMs need to redesign themselves and offer people what they really need to help their game. There is some really good product out there even from the majors operators, and a lo of stuff nobody should use. I know I have some. I won't buy anything at the "usual" price, it has to be steeply discounted. At one time I had a bunch of instructors working for me and whenever they came to town we would play golf, of course it is expensive to carry clubs around so
  14. Page 36 of their download pdf catalogue. Can't see pricing so I guess you have to contact them
  15. I also disagree, how could they leave Tiger off? Economics/Sponsors or not? Who watches if he doesn't play, eh? As for the Golf Channel commentators most of them are out to lunch...probably sponsor paid for...some stupid inane comments made on their site recently. If I were a betting man, and I lay odds of 100-1 that I am not, my money would be on Tiger to win his matches, he knows that he has something to prove. I still think Fowler was a strange choice; go with the hot hand. Not an easy choice though. Damned if you do and damned if you don't, ask Monty or Faldo. The weather in Wales in O
  16. Don't bother Canadians, you can't play this one.
  17. Specs and prices - around $600 - shown here http://www.tourspecg...Cavity-Back-4PW http://www.tourspecgolf.com/Saqra-INB1150-Forged-Muscle-Back-3PW add shafts to almost double the price. Others at main page http://www.tourspecgolf.com I have no connection to the above.
  18. Oh, man I need one of these! But then I would need a bigger indoors.
  19. Here is the blog link for Larry Smich the LPGA caddy who "blew the whistle", the players were disqualified but the LPGA has determined no intentional breaking of the rules. He blogs about Korean players blatantly breaking the rules and cheating...interesting but we all know that nobody cheats at golf, eh? And we know what happens to whistle blowers. Look at the "Here at ground zero" blog for August 31. LPGA Tour Caddy blog
  20. The more strokes you take the cheaper your round of golf is.

  21. Get the 3.0 version, the 2.0 is sweet but the 3.0 is sweeter! Best I cart I have used. I only have one because my friend Ted from Brisbane destroyed my old one with his power cart ...but that's another story. http://www.clicgear.com/ and there is even a video to show you how to open it! http://www.clicgear.com/videos.html
  22. So, Kuchar, judging from the number of different brands in his bag, is either: not sponsored; sponsored by many; or plays what he likes!?
  23. AW, where do you get your Vision balls? You say you have been playing them 3 months now? Who's your dealer? Lost my first ball today, hit mid fairway and took a strange bounce and dived into the muddiest pool at Mylora 5 rd, bummer. Shanked another into trees and brambles, found 6 other balls looking for it, finally found it. Wounds will heal. I was comparing it with a few Wilson Staff balls, performed a bit better, certainly did not scuff as badly, about 5 yards longer on average and hit a bit straighter but if I go on at this rate I will be out of stock in a few weeks. (Hope this one
