  1. I have been very happy with the Wilson Triad. Good price and solid performing ball.
  2. 3i driving iron. Then 4i on down. I am like a few others who hit long irons fairly well. For now at least they are more consistent and accurate for me than fairway woods or hybrids.
  3. @Brew @RickM71 I second the feedback that @cnosil provided above. The Exputt has you put dot stickers on both ends of the putter face so the camera and software can track and report path and the club face angle at impact. This feedback has helped me correct a tendency I have to open the putter club face sometimes during my putting. The analytics option during practice sessions also records and tracks progress or variation of these metrics across multiple analytics sessions. You are able to see charts that show how your club path has evolved over time.
  4. Didn’t see my name listed. Please count me in!
  5. The firmer ball did make a difference for me, most noticeable with my short irons. Not sure others would experience the same results. I suspect it is related to my swing and how I strike the ball. Trajectory and ball flight were also different for me. I do like the change and will start adjusting accordingly. When I found the green the ball held the green nicely. I was at a course I play regularly and the Model does not break as much on the greens as the Triad does. All subtle things I would not have noticed in years past when I was playing at most 4 times a year.
  6. Have been playing the Wilson Staff Triad and switched to the Wilson Staff Model. So went from a 85 compression ball to a 99 compression ball.
  7. I made the decision at the start of the season this year to select a golf ball brand and model as my gamer ball for the season. Prior to this year I played whatever golf balls I happened to have, usually economy balls or found balls I picked up while playing. If I lost a ball on a whole I would randomly grab another ball from my golf bag or use one I found on the last whole. I always seemed to find more than I lost, and I lost a lot of balls. Since I only played 3-4 time per year I never noticed how using a random ball impacted my play and my score. This year I am playing golf at least once per week I bought a new driver and a new set of irons. I did a lot or research before selecting a golf ball. After all the research I had a short list of balls and selected the Wilson Staff Triad and bought 2 dozen balls from Golf Galaxy when they were on sale. I went thru the first dozen pretty fast. I started the season scoring 60 on the local 9 hole course. The second box lasted a lot longer. Using the same golf ball every round gave me consistent performance in the ball and removed one big variable. I was able to focus on improving other parts of my game. My putting improved. I got more consistent knowing how far I hit each club. My touch and feel on my short game started improving as well. Last week I scored a 43 on the same 9 hole course. Last week my last WS Triad was too scuffed up to continue to game. Earlier this summer I also picked up 2 dozen WS Model (2022) when they were on sale for less than the Triad. Those were my second choice but didn’t make the cut at the start of the year due to the cost. My game has improved enough I decided to start using the WS Models instead of buying more WS Triads. I played my first game with the WS Model golf ball. I scored a 56. My putting and short game struggled. At the end of the round I realized why. The golf ball. The much higher compression changed my distances with my irons and my putting touch was not calibrated for the new ball. Two take aways. 1) The golf ball really does matter. 2) My game has made huge strides this year to the point that I can notice and appreciate the impact the golf ball has. My season best 43 on 9 holes still leaves huge improvement opportunities. I like how the WS Model plays and feels. I am going to keep with the switch. Just need to adjust my putting, short game and iron selection to account for the firmer golf ball. And I will be more prepared if/when I switch golf balls in the future.
  8. I just switched shafts on my driver. Went from an R flex 45.75 playing length to an S flex 44 playing length. The new shaft is about 10g heavier than the stock shaft. I also put in a heavier weight in the driver head to get back to a comfortable SW of D3. Stock was D2. I have been very happy with the results. I chose to buy a new shaft with a different bend profile rather than cutting down the existing shaft.
  9. I switched balls today and proceeded to over hit my approach shots and lose my putting touch. Scored a 56 on 9 holes which is where I was at a few month ago but 6-8 strokes over what I have been able to achieve the last few weeks.
  10. Date 09/27/2024 Course Name Forest Hills GC Gross Score 109 Course Rating 68.4 Course Slope 126 Gross Strokes over/under par 37 Birdies or better 1 Longest Drive 210 Played 27 holes of golf on Friday. My short game was struggling. I hit a lot of shots thin which we cost me extra strokes. Played Forest Hills for the second time. Only improved my score from last time by 2 strokes. I was terrible on the front 9 and then settled down and played better on the back 9. Regardless of the scores I enjoyed getting out for that much golf in one day.
  11. I have the same feedback as you regarding the 9 holes. I wish I could choose to play 3 or 6 holes. This mode does let you chose more than a single player as well. I would select that mode more often and play it with my sons if we could do a 3 hole or 6 hole challenge.
  12. I knew about that screen and use it. Helps me gauge what I am seeing on screen when learning to read the break on a 2 dimensional screen.
  13. I joined the forum this year. I never expected to get selected this year for a test. I am hugely thankful for the opportunity to test that I was selected for. This is a great community and valuable resource. The member testing is one small part. I have hugely enjoyed participating in the VCT. I find lots of wisdom and answers here on the forum when I have questions. If the testing list is shared in advance I will make a short list of tests that I think I would be able to provide meaningful input and will apply for them as they come up. If the tests are announced week by week I will still only apply for a small amount of them using this same criteria. Thank you mods for all you do!
