  1. I looked at a couple of courses I play regularly and there weren’t many postings. Probably not a popular feature.
  2. What is your top five criteria for selecting a ball? You seem obsessed with feel which, in my opinion, should be low on your list. I see very little discussion on performance which should be near the top. cost seems to be an important factor due to the number you lose. Things like soft and feel are subjective and is generally tied to sound which is influenced by the construction of the club itself meaning If you were to hit the same ball with different clubs they would sound and feel different. Start a list of you criteria and then find what fits into those categories. You will probably have to make compromises since the TP5 is a higher spinning performance ball in the higher price bracket. If price is a big concern, you will probably have to sacrifice green side performance. If available in Europe, Kirkland is probably your best alternative.
  3. While not the best device for testing ball speed, I have tested multiple balls using my ExPutt and given the same stroke, ball speed is the same within fractions of a MPH. The distances I get on the ExPutt align with what I see on the course so I believe it is fairly accurate.
  4. I think it is kind of weird but interesting at the same time. You basically go look at other peoples rounds like you do for your own rounds; kind of like shotlink for the PGA tour but you don’t get to see a composite view of where everyone went. I joined on course to look at the feature saw only a few rounds shared. The only potential benefit might be to see where you should play your shots; provided someone posted a decent round for you to review. Overall interesting concept but not something I would use. Also only available on the app and not through the dashboard(that I could find) which IMO makes it harder to navigate due to limited screen size
  5. I have never hidden anything about my calves; they have even been on several MGS posts. I need to figure out how they got that way; I think I could monetize the training if I actually knew what it was. genetics, the way I walk, lack of any physical effort....who knows Thanks, but you did see my scores on the back 9? A mix of everything from birdie to quad. Don't sell yourself short, you are pretty consistent.
  6. Sounds like the tp5 is the ball that gives the performance you want so that that is the ball you should play
  7. You know it would be a golf trip; not a swim with the great white shark trip.
  8. Liking my new profile picture; prior pic was from the last mid atlantic regional get together.
  9. The V3 watch might be the better option if you don’t want to have to manually tag the club.
  10. Hope you get it figured out; their customer support seems to be top notch.
  11. Not asking about launch monitor result. Did you hit the TP5 closest to the hole more consistently from various lies and distances? From a putting perspective other than a personal opinion all balls should perform pretty much the same when using the same putter. From off the green, spin will be determiner in how the perform; TP5s are on the higher end of the spin chart; this was what MGS stated about the TP5: TaylorMade TP5 - While we expected the TP5x would be a tick slower this time around given its lower compression, it was the spin of the TP5 that caught us by surprise. Across the board, it’s one of the spiniest balls within its compression range. Not only is it the higher spinning of TaylorMade’s two TP5 offerings, the spin profile is closer to what we find in many competitors’ “X” balls.
  12. The latest shot scope watch operates in this manner. The tag is recognized based on proximity and the swing/impact captures the location. The shot scope tags are very small and in my opinion the issue with them is more related to the butt end of the grip and many not be8mg flat causing the tag to stick out some. Also, putting must have some form of manual input because the systems don’t know where the hole is located…did you make a 1 foot or 50foot putt. Bad shots, penalties and practice swings also create some issues….we’re you in the same spot hitting again or are you just taking a practice swing? The hole location could be fixed but would require some sort of smart flagstick that the various systems recognize which would be an expense for the course and not all courses would likely purchase.
  13. Played both Saturday and Sunday and was pretty happy with how I played. I think Saturday was 78 and 79 on Sunday. Putting was good with 7 birdies over the 2 round, tee shots were good and I only got myself in trouble a couple of times with a few lost balls, hit my irons and hybrids really well. Short game had its up and downs and I’d say cost me quite a few shots. Gotta figure out how to take the short game from the practice area to the course and be a bit more consistent. Gonna put some 95-105 gram graphite shafts in the wedges to see if that helps out based on some feedback that I got this weekend.
  14. Not sure what you are really asking. Feel is subjective and contact is related to technique. How did they perform, how did you test? While you make like a particular feel, where you getting the desired check up and rollout on the short game shots? When I have measure ball speed with putting, with an on center strike there doesn’t seem to be a noticeable difference based on ball construction. You can change feel by changing ball or putter. If you want similar options, I’d look at t(e main MGS site and review ball lab for the various models to understand their compression ranking (feel influence) and the ball testing from last August where you can evaluate spin numbers to see what might perform similarly.
  15. Prizes came from multiple sources. Wedges, puttout, and hats were provided by HQ. I kicked in the hybrid, bag tag, divot tool, and keychain. Not looking for any specific recognition but wanted to make sure to thank MGS for the prizes they contributed and to Rob, Jose and Ryan for what they donated.
  16. I occasionally have to hit the connect button a couple of times but the app never shuts down.
  17. What are you thinking as options to indicate club identification and where you are hitting from?
  18. Sorry, they didn’t come from HQ I didn’t feel a need to correct the earlier post about where some of the prizes came from. I had some extra MGS swag so I provided some things which included the bag tag, divot tool, and keychain.
  19. Sounds like you have had some great success and improved your game. My only caution would be that Yes, watching tv Showa and YouTube clips can be beneficial, it can also wreck you swing if you apply the wrong fixes. This is why some form of personal instruction is better and which online coaching you can easily find someone affordable. As for the golf fix, it has been going for about 12 years and it doesn’t seem to be on the cancellation list. good luck with your continued improvements.
  20. not against that thought at all and I love granite shafts. I was at the mygolfspy outing this past weekend and a few of us did a Titleist fittings and I did a wedge fitting. Hen I got back to the house, @McGolfasked about my fitting since he does club fitting for a living and asked what shafts the fitter recommended. When I said the stock steel shafts he suggest I look at look at some thing lighter and more inline with my iron shafts; which are 85 gram graphite. His thought was that the 35 gram difference was to big and might be beneficial. I’d try and get the same graphites that were in my irons but they are the stock Honma Vizard shafts and I don’t think you can buy them direct. Jim say me play for 4ish hours so he had a pretty good idea about how I swing the club and suggested Accra wedge shafts. Just want to confirm the ones I listed where what we were talking about; I have a couple of new vokey wedges begging for a new shaft
  21. I think a lot comes down to the user themselves. These devices have progressed from having to carry a phone in your front pocket and having to take a practice swing to activate the tag to either capturing the club when held in you hand and swung or having to tap the tag on the device. Most of this stuff is done via a simple tweak to your routine. I am trying to think of ways it could be easier to capture club data without identifying a club or triggering a device to know you are taking a shot and can’t think of anything. As I look back, I think there has been a huge progression for consumer grade devices that help track shot stats; my early use of phone based type capture was quickly dumped due to having to significant distraction. I am using the h4 now and find it incredibly easy to use and fits into my routine pretty seamlessly. If you do miss a shot, the data entry is a pretty simple and quick post round edit. I think the improvements would be on the software/analytics side where it gives you better more thorough analysis of your weaknesses. As I look through my shot scope data I can see scoring trends, strokes gained, club distances, and other information, but the difficulty is in the analysis and where do I really need to look see what I need to improve I read some of the shot scope support groups and other forums and people want these devices to do more….keep, score for them, give real time analytics, etc. things that would increase the footprint of the device and make you push even more buttons. No thanks, the h4 is pretty close to an ideal thing for me when it comes to capturing round days.
  22. Now that I am back home, gotten a little dinner and a shower to cool off after a very hot/humid round of golf I wanted to post my thoughts on the weekend. Unfortunately, some things were just not family/PG rated so they will go unmentioned. Many of us are on the forum pretty regularly and we see the screennames, are friendly (for the most part), and have lots of things in common. But none of that compares to actually getting a group of people together to play some golf, hang out, and just spent some time BS'ing. If you have an opportunity to get out and meet some of our fellow forum members and play a round or two of golf. We've seen some other get togethers and I am sure they can confirm what I am saying. It also isn't about how good or bad you play so even if you aren't a great golfer, still go! Even though I just got home, I am ready to pack my bags and meet up with this great group of guys and tee it up again and play a round with some of the guys I didn't get a chance to play with.
  23. As mentioned, @MDGolfHackerwas the hero for the cottage sticking it to 4 feet. The best part of the cottage battle was when we were walking to the green to try and find our balls (never found mine) the other cottage guys asked if we were all friends to which I responded (Jose, correct me if this isn't exactly right) I guess, we all just met each other yesterday. My score looks much better as a total than the individual holes scores. My back 9 was: double, birdie, bogey, birdie, quad, par, birdie, par, triple Was pretty hot and ran out of steam on 14. Got a little second wind and then totally fell apart again to close out the round.
