If it were me, I’d pick the head and then see what x-stiff stock shafts are available on eBay, 2nd swing, global golf, etc.

I just bought the Arccos Smart Grips (MCC Plus4). But i just realized that when and if i change any club i would need to buy a new grip. Anyone have experience with moving these grips to other clubs? Or would you have to buy the individual grips each time? Thanks!
There are tools that you can use to remove grips; these shouldn’t be any different even with the sensor.

Has anyone played the Evnroll Midlock? I'm curious but can't find one anywhere to try.
I have tried them, what is you question?

AVX isn’t a high spin ball so you may be seeing similar spin numbers; or not enough to generate a significant performance difference as Most balls probably go relatively the same distance. While you may be able to perceive some differences, The only true way to see if there are performance differences would be to use a launch monitor to measure. That said, if you are happy with the ball hen by all means play it.

The game of golf is a fickle mistress. Yesterday I played and shot the worst score I have made in 5 years, 87 with 6 three putts. Today I played the same course with the same foursome from the same tees and shot 71. We play it down and bet heavily so no gimmies or mulligans.
This game is crazy sometimes. The major difference was simply confidence in my putting.
I am going to say this and it just may be me, but changing he font to cursive makes you post more difficult to read. Staying with the standard font is probably best.

Didn’t see the need for a new topic to answer a question I have. Figured random thread would work. Anyway I’m doing a one day(5 hour) golf school next month, and was wondering how much to tip the instructor. Thank you in advance for any suggestions.
Do you tip your golf instructor for an individual lesson? I do understand that it is a gray area since they are providing a service but have never tipped my instructor; we have an agreed upon rate that I pay per lesson. Golf schools may be a bit different as there are often multiple instructors and you are paying the owner of the school and not directly paying each instructor. Would you tip each instructor?

I watched this and it only makes me want the TAIII irons even more. They really seemed to perform well and they seemed to sound a bit better as well. Am I good enough to play them probably not but we all know that's not going to stop the dreaming.
They aren't that bad and are fairly forgiving. I have been surprised by their performance in the players iron testing. In my opinion just as good as anything else in the test.

For the driver, I would definitely focus on a single ball flight, but the draw/fade play extends beyond just the driver. DJ exclusively hits a cut now with all clubs (save the putter). For a driver scenario, how about pulling a Phil Mickelson and carrying two drivers in the bag; one fade bias and one draw bias? TXG covered this concept really well HERE. Mattie shows the temptation of dropping a wedge to play two drivers on a very long course. Obviously, not everyone can play both shot shapes, myself included.
Have you ever thought of trying to switch from your natural tendency and play a draw with the driver, @cnosil? There's potential you could get a boost in distance. Just food for thought!
I can hit a draw with my other clubs; 3 wood and hybrids tend to draw, irons are tend to fade. In the rare cases I need to hit a draw off the tee I’ll drop back a club. I only intentionally change my typical ball flight if there is an obstacle to go around, but never with a driver.
yes, I used to try and draw the driver but was never successful at being able to make it repeatable.- thechrisgibbs, Kenny B, GolfSpy AFG and 1 other

I am following the DECADE recommendation and playing a single ball flight with my driver which is a fade. I never try to draw the ball with my driver.

I'm looking for some advice on how to stop second guessing my putt alignment. Or do even know if i'm aligning properly I guess. I typically will line my ball up take a few steps back check it then either adjust or realign then remove my marker. Now here is where I have the biggest issue I stand over the ball and every time it seems that my ball is misaligned by like a foot. Any and all help is greatly appreciated
What you are describing is common and called parallax error. The ideal solution would be to get yourself in the setup that eliminates that perception. Buy adjusting things like how close you are to the ball and head position you can find a setup that will show what you are seeing for the side correctly. Or you can do nothing and try to accept that the setup,is correct based on what you saw from behind the ball.

Went to Club Champion yesterday and was quoted about $350 for a HZRDUS smoke yellow small batch tour stiff. I went on eBay to check availability and am finding the same shaft brand new for $110. What am I missing? How common are counterfeit shafts on eBay? I know Club Champion is expensive but not by that much for a shaft. The eBay seller has thousands of 5-start reviews.
CC does not buy from eBay. They source the product and sell it to you for MSRP plus some markup for their work. The shaft is basically a $300 shaft bought from an authorized dealer. Read any review of club champion and a main complain is the markup for product and that people can purchase the same equipment elsewhere for less.
counterfeit clubs and golf products are a large market and often you can find them on eBay. Not saying the ones being sold by the eBay seller are counterfeit.

What your conclusions seem to indicate is exactly what the moderators state in their posts about how testers are chosen. As you also indicated you had to make some assumptions on things that change over time like post counts and if/when a person became a donor, and their post frequency since becoming a member. I have been a forum member since 2012, but didn’t get engaged until about 2017. There are also quite a few frequent posters that never apply for tests as that isn’t the reason they are on the forum. Even with the selection criteria there are still testers that take the product and don’t perform the reviews or have to be asked multiple times to post the review. I would also guess that the mods keep track of who applies to what test opportunities to see who throws there name in the hat for everything versus those that apply for items they are really interested in and want to review....I know I probably would.
as a tester you can’t control how people will respond to the review or even ask questions to help shape your review. That said, part of being a tester is trying to generate that interest by posting comments in the review thread to generate interest.
The nice thing about your independent assessment is that it shows that anyone can be selected, being a part of the forum is important, and the criteria isn’t just be best friends with the people making the selections.

in the past, I have always purchased used clubs. My approach is to hit them on the simulator and see how I like them. At your level of golf I think unless the club is a terrible fit you can find a club that will work well. Lie angles can be adjusted. Additionally, With used clubs you can hit every club and check the gapping before you purchase. Basically this approach works, it just takes a bit more knowledge and time.

My strokes Gaines putting on those 8 putts was -3.54. So yeah, a couple of them were REALLY bad. Again, I’m shooting for making 6. Realistically (as I noted) making 3 I’m happy with. Then the SGP on those at least looks a lot better.
Thats why saying something like inside 16 feet is really a bad way of putting things. It is like when the TV announcers say that a player made X amount of putts inside of 12 feet. They probably made 1 12 footer and all the rest were inside of 3 feet.

I don't think the combo is a problem. I wouldn't adjust the lofts until you hit them and determine the gapping. Why bend if you don't have too?

Just got back from Club Champion. Felt like I was swinging slow but also putting in more effort than normal. Made the fitter put the club on the swingweight scale. E2 with a Callaway head which tends to be on the light side. LOL
sounds like they didn't build their heads correctly with the adapter system.

Callaway also provides recommendations on their iron pages: https://www.callawaygolf.com/golf-clubs/iron-sets/

I missed 8 putts that were 16’ or closer. No three putts. I’m looking forward to making even 3 of those 8 in the near future and 6 of them in the distant future!
Lots of great work on the putting, but I think you need to really look at putting expectations. You didn't specify the distances of those 8 putts, but anything outside of 8 feet is the 50/50 distance. If those putts were all inside of 8 feet, I wouldn't question your 6 of 8 desire.
-
adjusting the lofts is about gapping; not the clubs themselves. As was said, most manufacturers make it easy for their clubs to be put into combo sets. If you need to fix gaps, you just bend to the lofts that give you the correct distance.

graphite shafts versus steel in wedges
in General Q&A
Posted
your choice depending on what you want to accomplish. You didn't specify the weight of your graphite but if they are lighter weight there may be a difference on full swing feel because of the additional weight. i play graphite irons and steel in my wedges and don't have issue transitioning even when using a full swing. Basically no hard and fast rules. Here is a thread by someone experimenting with this:
