I'll need another one too if you don't mind. The exact same thing happened to me. -

I found this site when looking for leaked pictures of the first Taylormade R11. Then I came back on occasion for the reviews. I subscribed to the blog thinking it was the forum then I left that. I later found the forum and tried to find out more on equipment and do some of my own reviews. Now I go MGS everyday to gain new insight, ideas, knowledge, reviews, and all the great stuff that comes with being a member of MGS. -
EJ I see where you are coming from, it sucks to lose progress when it's something out of your control such as an injury. But it's better to get back up and move on rather than quit. This setback will make you work harder if you really want your skill back to where it was. Plus, a month isn't too bad, you will get back to where you were within no time with dedication and good practice.

Got in a quick nine at my home course. 41 (+5), not bad but my putting killed me. 24 putts is unacceptable so I need to get in more putting practice. Hitting has been good and I only missed 1 green which is very good for me. I'll also take this score because my hand was hurting pretty bad by hole 4 and it's pretty much done for now.

Played at a very nice country club with some nice ocean views. Some family friends invited me and my dad over. I shot 82 (+12) which was good for me for not practicing and playing that much. I also played with my Bullseye putter for the first time and that will stay in the bag for now. The only complaint about that course was all of the goose crap everywhere.

Interesting idea. I'm always curious about these online fitting sites whether it's the whole club, shaft only, etc. and their accuracy. How close to ideal specs could something like this get?

Score was horrible today but it was good regardless. I was fighting a sweeping draw all day and putting was horrible.

I played the back nine at a local course today and it didn't go down as good as I hoped for. I started off the first three holes at -1 then I got on the bogey train for a final score of +5, which for the back nine is a 40. I can't believe I couldn't manage to break 40. I was striking the ball well but my driver and the resulting approach shots cost me a lot of strokes. The putter was doing pretty good though, I'm liking the 38" length.

There's a set of Maxfli Black Dots at my local golf shop. I saw them there one day and I think they came in 2-PW with maybe an extra random wedge but I gave them a hit and they do have nice feel. The 2 iron isn't as forgiving as the one I have but the whole set is a pretty good deal, I want to say it was around $80 and they were in pretty decent shape.

Cutting Down Shaft on Belly Putter

I've tried the putter for a couple days and I think it'll work really well. I like the heavy head so there's no need to change the feel. -
Cutting Down Shaft on Belly Putter
whiskey golf replied to whiskey golf's topic in General Equipment Talk
I got the putter cut down today to 38" and put on a 21" Superstroke belly grip. I'll give it a try later today but it's very head heavy now which isn't bad based off of first impressions put I will see how it plays out. I'll try to post a picture later tonight. Also, the clubfitter/repair shop owner didn't charge me because I'm on the high school team which was very cool and I also scheduled a fitting for the R1 for next week. He also told me he would cover it which took me by surprise and I offered to pay but I guess that will be covered anyways, that really shows his class. So I will probably write about my experience because I have never been fitted by him and it's the least I can do, the more publicity the better. I saw a plaque in his shop that had the title of "PGA Fitter of the Year" for 2012 and I've heard good things about him so I'm really looking forward to getting fit. -

Cutting Down Shaft on Belly Putter

I picked up a Superstroke 21" grip and went to get the putter cut today but the repair shop was closed, looks like it'll have to wait another day or two. -
Cutting Down Shaft on Belly Putter

I'm 6 feet but I hold the putter upright so the end of the shaft is pointed away from my body, but no I'm not a giant like some people are. -

The lie for the belly version is 72 degrees and the standard version is 70 degrees. -
Cutting Down Shaft on Belly Putter

Thanks for everyone's replies so far. I have a couple questions regarding lie angle though. As of now at 43", I am gripping the putter normally as you would a standard putter and I'm not anchoring it so basically my goal is to take just a couple inches off of the top and keep the same setup, just a different length putter. That shouldn't affect lie too much, right? Just to let you know, I'm able to grip the putter normally because it is too short for me now so I won't have to change setup after cutting it. As for center of gravity, I have taken a lot of physics in high school so I know how center of gravity is affected. I did some calculations and had to eyeball it a bit as well and it turns out that the current setup balances at the end of the fifth step of the shaft, starting from the head working up to the end of the grip. To simplify what I mean, the center of gravity is 12.75" away from the bottom of the head. I did the math and then tested this to see if it's true and it was. With this said, should I try to keep the center of gravity close to that spot, 12.75", after cutting down the shaft to keep the balance and the feel the same? If that's the case, I should be able to find out what I need to do as far as weighting goes in order to get it close to that again. -

I'm gripping the putter around 34.5-35.5 inches so that's good to know that it won't completely throw off the weighting, but everyone is different. Hopefully I can just cut it and be done with it. -

That's pretty interesting, this idea makes me want to make one out of curiousity.
