  1. I bought a small bag of Martini tees, if forget how many years ago, but I'm still using the first one I took out of the bag. Simply unbreakable, for me.

The only time I use other tees from the "tee collection" I've built up over the years is when I'm practicing off of a hitting mat using a simulator over the winter, or at the practice range.

  2. I've been using my simulator over the winter in South Dakota for quite a while and never use the courses that came with the GC2 software. I just try to work on solid contact and exercising my "golf muscles" using the "range" and the fitting software. I find the information from the fitting software useful in helping to correct swing flaws.

I just don't find simulated courses realistic, but if I don't exercise and work on my swing over the winter months, at my age it's a struggle to get back in shape and get "my game" back in the Spring.

  3. Compared to most of South Dakota, we've fared pretty well. If you've watched any national weather, you know the state got hit with a heavy winter storm system. In our neck of the woods, we probably got less that 6 inches of snow and only got heavy drifting across the roads yesterday. Once the roads get plowed so we can travel, I plan to drive to town to pick up some things and go bowling (my indoor sport).

It's very cold, the roads are slick and snowy but it's South Dakota, so it's just winter weather now. 👍😎

  4. My wife has a 2002 Mercedes E320 wagon that has gremlins in it.  When she makes a right hand turn into a driveway, the doors unlock.  When it gets cold (starting about now because we have a freeze warning tonight), the windows don't always go up.  The LCDs on the dash have missing segments.  She loves the car, but has been scoping out SUVs.  Very few of them have the luggage space of the E320 wagon until you look at the largest models; then they are too big.

Have you checked out the Mercedes GLC 300?  It really feels a lot like driving the E350, just a bit higher off the ground with a lot more room in the back.  Just picked one up before Labor Day for a long trip out East. (Still keeping the E350, though) ;)

  5. I must have missed it.  What did you have done?

Lengthen shafts and adjust lie angle / swing weight for longer shafts.  Found out today they're at the store, but waiting for the Cobra hybrid, as I requested combined shipping.

I'll be in he Twin Cities area this weekend, so I'm going to pick up the irons and have them ship the hybrid when it arrives.

  6. It's been rain and cold again for over a week (again).

4 inches of rain over the past week in our rain gauge..  and FINALLY got to play 18 yesterday (even though the course was soaked, with standing water on most of the fairways).

It looks like we might actually get a stretch of decent weather over the next week, or so.

This has been the worst stretch of "Spring" for golfing I can remember. :(

  7. Many - while I play my home course a lot, my Great Life membership allows me to play at close to 2 dozen courses with an hour's drive for no green fees or cart fees.

Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy

Most of my nearest courses became Great Life courses over the past two years, so I dropped my CC membership in favor of more golf + less money.

Hoping to take advantage of my GL membership to extend my golf season a bit too, by driving south on I-29 to play courses in MO/KS in the Fall.

Maybe we can get together for some golf later this year.

  8. Getting old really sucks, in so many ways!!

I feel a whole year older today than I did yesterday.  The BIG 70!  My wife said I could play from the gold tees starting today.  We don't have gold tees at our course!!

Happy Birthday Kenny!!  Getting older sucks, but it still beats the alternative ;)

  9. I dropped my CC membership this year, largely due to the cost per round, over the cost of membership.  I traveled a lot last year and have always played a lot of "away golf" anyway.

Now I've got a "Great Life" membership for $600 per year for unlimited play at about a dozen courses within an hour, plus a lot of additional courses in SD/MN/IA/NE/KS/MO.

I picked up unlimited cart & range passes at my two closest GL courses and I'm still about $700 less cost than my CC membership was.  Of course, I can still play the CC as a guest, so it's well worth the switch, for me.

I can definitely lower my handicap, if I play most of my golf at one course and get familiar with it, but that's not the main reason I play golf.

  10. Played my first round of the year this week (finally).  Actually rather pleased with my ball striking, which I've been able to practice indoors over the witner, but I really need more work on my short game!!  I just don't have the distance control from around 60 yards and in, or with chipping.

Weather is finally looking good for the week, so I'm planning to get at least a couple of rounds in and some extra practice with my wedges.

Still waiting for my regular set of clubs to arrive, since my irons needed adjustment after my fitting & my new hybrid and putter were ordered.  The Epic driver is definitely meeting my expectations & keeping me in the fairway with distance that equals or exceeds that of the Titleist that's getting bumped to backup.

  11. Sorry.  You made me remember the 9 months I spent in Fargo in 1962-1963.  It was 80* on Easter Sunday and below zero the next Tuesday!!

I'm sending you warm weather from the west.  It's suppose to be 91* here on Thursday, so you should be getting warmer in a couple of days.

In the 60s by Thursday (hopefully)!
