  1. Thought I would chime in on this. I recently got a Distanza shaft for my Ping G400 MAX 40gr. after trying my friends 400 MAX with the same shaft. All I can say is I really don't know how much SS I got back from playing stiff/firm flex, but I can honestly say it was substantial. When I first installed it, the head just seemed like it would wobble like crazy, but when you swung the club it was as stable as can be. Don't know who makes the shaft for Ping, but damn it works.
  2. I know that the new version came out this year, however, I've heard that a "new" version of the QST is going to come out sometime this fall. It was nothing confirmed, just your usual rumor thought someone here might have something.
  3. Heard about a "new" Q Star Tour 3 being added to the line-up. Any info on this??
  4. Don't know if you made the right decision, but I'm looking at a mallet type putter to replace my 19yo SC long neck putter. Great on long putts, but accuracy is mixed on short 4-7ft putts, plus maybe it's time to move from a blade type putter.
  5. Amazing!!! I kind of live in a rural area, do my own adjustments/builds on my clubs and I usually rely on a lie board. This just might give me new meaning to consistency. Thanks for the vid!
  6. The Steadfast shaft is an interesting one. Makes a lot of claims like they use premium carbon fibers that cost 10x as much as their competitors use, I also haven't see any back-up of their claims, and they won't submit their shafts for OE testing, but still I'm intrigued. A golf shaft, tip and a grip for $99 Either this is a true revelation or may be as Barnum once said...............
  7. Just take things as they come. If you were hitt a 7i at 150 and now you are coming up short...simple take a 6i and make a smooth swing. Don't over kill it, and pretty soon you'll be back to normal. You were out of golf for 1 1/2 years, it won't come back in a month or so and it's also less frustrating.
  8. I'm surprised to see how little the jump in R&D is compared to cost of sales and SG&A!
  9. I just saw this topic!! Could I have a broke 80's badge and a veteran badge? Thanks!!
  10. Customer could make or break a product no matter how good the product is.

    Cooking

Made onion burgers this past weekend. Simple to make and man are they good!! Use either a griddle or a large cast iron skillet. You also would need a mandolin to slice the onions paper thin. Roll out balls of 80/20 hamburger about 4-5 oz. each Use yellow/sweet onions, and have the mandolin set on the lowest setting and slice the onions. For 4 burgers I will use about 3/4 ions depending on size. Spread a little oil on the grill/skillet and put the balls of meat on and squash the meat into a burger shape. Make it thin. spread the onions on top and let the burger sizzle until its ready to flip Flip them over with the onions being on the bottom and the burger on top of the onions Put the buns on top of the burger and let it finish frying when it's done, take the bottom bun set it on a plate and flip the burger on the bun where the onions are on top add pickles and mustard cover with the other bun...grab a beer and enjoy!!
  12. That's another reason I like MGS is because they don't show favoritism(at least I haven't seen it) to guys in testing products. It's kind of obvious when you see it happen over and over again on other sites.
  13. WRX is OK, but since I don't drive it 300+ pretty much anything I have to say gets ignored. Sometime when you mention the clubs that you play on other sites, they act as though you're a leper. I don't post here that often, been around for a while but I enjoy the atmosphere at MGS.
  14. I will try a sleeve when it come out, however, when I play a ball I look for a certain feel/spin/distance. I know that I can hit certain balls a lot further but they are hard feeling(to me) and really I just don't prefer that feel. Some are just way too soft and I don't play those except in the winter. The rest of the balls I just lump together and play them and weed some out if I don't like certain things about them. This isn't very scientific or brand supportive but for me at least it works. I play to a 13 hdcp. so I'm not that good of a golfer(compared to some on here), and yes I still manage to slice and hit squirrely shots so I don't think that ball type will magically help me there. I currently play Wilson Professional, QST, Tour Response, Tour Soft, and a couple of weird ones strictly because of feel/distance...AVX, TP5
  15. It was bigger than you Ribeye...wasn't it!!
  16. Love Hirzl gloves but they are so hard to find. That said, I'm really hard on gloves mainly because I don't take care of them, so I go with mainly the MG glove. It's cheap, well made, they last as long as the brand names and it's all cab. leather. I do have some Callaway, Titleist and FJ in the mix, but really none are that much better than the MG plus at six bucks and change, I can afford to to be a little rough with them.
  17. I'm not a single ball type of guy so I tend to move around quite a bit. I go from TP5, to PV1, BXS, Tour Soft, Tour Response. I recently tried an 2020 AVX and really liked the performance especially my short game. I'm not one who skilled enough to suck a ball back a few feet, but the AVX does a very good job of one hop and stop with very little run-off. Plus it's soft enough which is my preferred feel.
  18. Like to play urethane most of the time, but I tend to switch around...no reason why.
  19. When I was in Florida a few weeks ago, I got a box of the Tour B RX and like you said, it does have a lot of spin especially around the green. Srixon Z Star V is also a spinner. I also want to try out the Gen.3 version of the Q Star Tour. My preferred ball flight is high(doesn't always happen), but the feel to me is that the new Bridgestone spin better, but to me feel somewhat firmer than the last years BRX.
  20. Totally agree, which is why I said that I prefer the Professional. It gives me the spin I want around the green and still some solid distance.
  21. Well it sounds like you have the prefect all around set-up for your full club fitting. Congrats. I'll still continue to do mine as I have for most of the reasons I gave you plus the fact that I like what I do and for the most part, the results. As for your comment about being uneducated on a product or process, I went to a fitter to get fit by someone who knows more than I do about stuff. It would be counter productive for me to go to a fitter and when he gave me his recommendations for me to say "tell you what, I'll look up what you want to do to the shaft ands the process involved and I'll let you know". I don't think so. I also don't think I'm the only one that has had a bad recommendation or club fitting, but, I would hesitate to call those people uneducated on the product or process.
