Ok, it's just my personal quirk, but I absolutely refuse to purchase any product that uses the word "extreme" in its advertising.
    Much less "xtreme."

Like I said when this was first brought up, I think they've priced wrong... but it's going to be a middle-of-the-curve ball with a urethane cover at $40. For some, it'll be perfect, for others it won't.
I will say though, the journalism student in me who took some advertising classes for copywriting purposes loves the ad copy PXG puts out, it's always good for a chuckle.

Thank you for the advice, however I've tested the Kirkland and it was a close second choice behind the Maxfli.  Originally, I was fine paying a little more and actually could get them still at the $30 a dozen price.  It is just the idea that just because they are popular they need to squeeze as much profit as possible; that bothers me.  This price increase is NOT supply chain crap, it is purely based on greed.  Ive watched their supply and they have never run out of these balls.  No worries excessive greed is ever present in our society and I'm a believer in to each their own, just as it is my decision to not buy from a company that does it.   Hit'em long and few 😉

I actually liked the blue... But then again I had a blue Fly Z plus that i really liked as well.
I think there are more offensive colors than the blue. Nike was on a good streak of making some wildly colored drivers.
It's at least nice that there truly are so many options for us to pick from! (All OEMs)

I currently play the AV Raw White in my TSi3 and really like it. Stable shaft, can always feel where the head of the club is at, and overall really smooth. Produces a mid/low ball flight for me, which I really like.

Slightly different, but I played the Blue in a few different drivers and fairways and really like it. Super stable, good feel and produced a good ball flight for me. Also given the reviews I have seen they have all been pretty darn postive. I know TXG went over the line and did a good overall review (as they always do) on the lineup and had the white as a focal point in it.

Should I buy a swingweight scale?
Hi all and thanks for having me back! (I never really left, just have had demoralizing injury and life [and death] get in the way)
As I'm totally intrigued by the Otto Phlex experiment I will be trying it out. As I have a very limited budget and; as I have found Xcaliber shafts on closeout and have been wanting to try a couple (sadly the superlites are all gone) and; as I have been meaning to fix/build properly the Dynacraft DI I tried to build but failed miserably at, and; as I am not always the most phone/calculator/computer compliant, I was wondering if a basic swingweight scale would be a good idea. Does anyone have any experience with the more budget oriented models (positive or negative) or should I bite the bullet and do the math with a swingweight calculator?
Note- I can be a tinkerer, and might feel the need to check/adjust all clubs for S&Gs.

Curious what anyone's experiences and/or technical knowledge of this shaft are. I know many years ago I loved the Tensei White (could've been Pro) in a Mizuno ST180 at a demo day. Obviously a limited experience, and I can't really remember the specifics or what in particular put this one on top, but I'd like to hear what anyone has to say, if for no other reason than to add to my databanks. Thanks in advance!

WithIn that "Otto Phlex" thread are links to, and examples of, online SW calculators BUT .. you'll need accurate length measurements plus an accurate digital scale.
I happen to have a basic (budget) balance beam scale - from Golf Mechanix - that's very easy to use, and really helpful when tinkering with clubs!

The AV Raw basically takes the concept from the previous Tensei series and stiffens up the tip profile further. The downside is the weight goes up slightly from like for like previous specs. On the plus side,  the feel is not sacrificed by the increase in tip stabilty, and there are more TX rebar flex options if you are a high ball speed / fast tempo player. The see thru butt section makes it look rather stunning to show the metalised fiber weave as well. One for fashion conscious ball crusher.

Completely from memory- but doesn't Honma have an adapter that works similarly to Callaway's? Also, are we considering weight, or has that been made moot by modern weight-saving materials/designs?

AH1980MN reacted to chisag in Old School Hybrid Re-Shaft
... When hybrids first came out one of the tricks on Tour was going up a flex and installing a wood shaft in their hybrids. This gave them a higher launch and more kick. I gave my 19* Adams Super LS to my 80yr old playing partner but an Altus R Flex hybrid shaft was the softest shaft I had and he just doesn't hit it high enough or as far as I think he could. So I am taking a two step approach and re-shafting my 22* Super LS hybrid and using a wood R Flex Even Flow Blue shaft that should play like an A Flex hybrid shaft. It will swing weight a little lighter letting me keep the same length as his 19* but launch higher and with much more kick through impact. It should carry farther and give him more distance. I'll find out next week.

... UST had a shaft system with their I.T. shaft. 100gms but titanium weave in the handle, very counter balanced allowing for a heavier head on a shorter shaft which in theory produced more accuracy and better center contact while the heavier head produced more distance. Fred Couples played it for years, as did several others. Too stout for me these days but I still have one:

Did anyone see the TXG review of the Gen5 driver? I don't remember their results to the number, and obviously all swings are different, but compared to other driver's Matt's hit recently, the results seemed... anomalous. Frankly, there are a lot of you whose reviews and anecdotes I trust quite a bit, as your consistency and such are solid, so their review doesn't quite jibe. Thoughts?
