  1. In practical terms, I think the previous replies are right. Too many variables, but you could design a test for this if you had the resources. You could build a club with the exact same specs (shaft, length, lie, club head weight, etc) with the only exception being loft and test the clubs using a Iron Byron type of robot. I've never seen an article or chart of such info, but it may be out there.
  2. I think some may get lucky depending on what is ordered. A guy at my course ordered G425 irons when they hit the market and received them in about 3 weeks. Obviously, the shafts and grips he ordered were in stock. I ordered a Glide lob wedge about 6 weeks ago and haven’t heard a peep. I’m not irritated, though. It’s tough out there for companies that rely on deliveries from overseas. This would be a good time to be someone for whom standard specs are a perfect fit. I wish I could walk into a shop and walk out with irons with standard shafts and specs. I need an inch long graphite, 2 degrees upright and oversized grips.
  3. Ah, the flushed hook. If I had a nickel...
  4. Video your swing and note how high your head is at impact vs address. You may be “standing up” at some point in your swing.
  5. I have never been to a Club Champion, but I have read a number of posts complaining about the experience, in particular their customer service. You are not alone.
  6. Oops. They are both 10.5 degrees.
  7. I would, but let me wait a day to see if someone wants it with the head. Thanks
  8. I play with a guy who just turned 70 a few months ago, but still hits the ball extremely well. Your swing sounds like his. He rarely takes a divot and hits the ball very high with all his clubs. I'm guessing his swing speed is still in the low to mid 90's. He plays Honma forged cavity backs with a narrow sole. I have been taking lessons and have learned to hit down on the ball in the last year. But when I was a picker, a wide sole was the worst thing for me.
  9. Ping G400 Max 10.5 degree driver with stock Alta CB 55 regular flex shaft. $240. Light marks on the leading edge of the crown that are not noticeable at address. Please see pics for condition. Price includes shipping and Paypal fees. I don't have a G400 headcover but will include a G30 headcover. TaylorMade driver is sold.
  10. Serious answer: I don’t think you can. Joking answer: If you miss a putt, the ball is faulty.
  11. Interesting that last year, the Mizuono HMBs and the Taylormade P770s were in the Players category, not the Players Distance category. Do the manufacturers decide in which category they want to be considered? On another note, I had a set of HMBs, but I am simply not a good enough ball striker for them. They look great, though. And when hit well they feel and sound really good.
  12. Funny, yesterday on the course I noticed how much I like the sound of mine. Lower pitched than a lot of other drivers I have had. Caveat: my upper frequency hearing is for crap. Maybe I just can't hear the pitches that others find irritating with this driver. I find the G425 Max fits my swing a little better than the G400 Max I had been playing. But, the shaft is different and the 425 has more useful adjustments (moveable weight, more loft/lie options).
  13. I think Augusta highlighted some of his weaknesses. His distance control and spin control with his irons is an issue. Augusta also seems to reward players who have great “feel” for the game. Players who are more artists than technicians, if you will. The lack of a green reading book seemed to throw him for a loop. All those things need to be addressed—if he is capable of doing that.
  14. I don't think I've ever bought a pair of pants or shorts marketed as golf wear. I just buy cotton pants at a department store and wear them on the course. Same with polo style shirts. I think the major difference between golf-specific clothing and other casual clothing is the price.
  15. You won't really know until you hit the finished clubs. D9 is heavy but if that is what you hit the best then it's not a problem. As a licensed old fart, I would be worn out at the end of a round hitting heavy clubs. That and hand issues are why I use graphite in my irons. If you are young and/or strong, the heavier clubs probably won't be a problem. As far as the lie goes, I occasionally play with a guy who is about 6'2" or 6'3" and he plays with very low hands. I don't know his specs, but it wouldn't surprise me to learn his clubs are standard lie or flatter.
  16. Don't forget to check the specs if you order on the phone. I haven't played with mine much lately because the wider sole of my Mavrik Max irons is more forgiving in the mud of winter and early spring. I started playing more with the 0211's and it seemed nearly every club was shorter than expected, especially the short irons. I thought I might be getting more spin from the 0211's and put down the distance decrease to that. Yesterday, I took them to the local shop and had the lofts checked. Every single club was different than the loft I ordered. When I ordered the clubs on the phone, I had a feeling the rep was getting confused, so there ya go. Still think they are a great bargain. Even the new model is only $99 per club.
  17. I called PXG and the rep was unable to answer the question. For anyone who has seen both, is the new 0211 smaller, larger, the same size as the older model? I'm particularly interested in the blade length and sole width. Thanks.
  18. Well, any minivan, but most men don't want to go there. 3 years ago I was shopping for an SUV and had picked out one based on research and looks. I took my clubs with me and they wouldn't fit without folding down the rear seat so I didn't even drive it. Ended up going up one size in the manufacturer's line up.
  19. I have both. At the courses I usually play, I use the range finder almost exclusively. At unfamiliar courses, I rely on the GPS. If only going with one, I would pick the GPS. Hitting to the center of the green will rarely hurt you.
  20. I had them make up an iron for me to demo when they first opened. I ended up going in another direction but the customer service was excellent. You can find some reviews of the 902s on line. Just GTS (google that s**t).
