  1. I get what they're trying to say -- they're probably not altogether wrong, but boy, talk about telling your customer "you're not good enough!" I'm no genius, but I've been in the marketing end of my business long enough to know that you never want to give your customer the impression that your stuff is too sophisticated for the average Joe, or that somehow they're not equipped to make adjustments. Hell, when I guy it, it's MY freaking club - if I want to adjust it, let me! It comes across as arrogant, but it sounds more like a very bad marketing justification for either an inability or refusal to design/manufacture an adjustable head.
  2. The MGS Minnesota Open? It's an idea that's gaining momentum!

As jackie Gleason used to say "hardee-har-har!" (If you have to ask, try youtube!) And FYI, you jokers, we hit triple digits in parts on MN yesterday....2 weeks after a foot of snow.

  5. Reminds me of the line from Argo! Y'know, I get the point of the contests/review requests. I think it's two-fold: 1. To keep the regulars regular - keep us coming back 2. Just as important - expand the subscription/membership base. All those ads we're looking at are here because of the number of members & regular visitors to the MGS site. The more members, the better MGS looks to advertisers and this is, after all, a business. A passionate one, and one that's operated with a pretty high degree of integrity - but a business. I guess there are always "contest ho's", but it goes with the territory...
  6. Would love to participate in this one! HDCP is 11 Currently gaming Ping i20 3 wood, Project X Black 6.0 shaft Hybrids have been an ongoing search. Currently gaming Cleveland Mashie 3 and 4 hybrids, upgraded over the winter to Talamonti H-100 shafts from the stock C. Kua 59 gram shafts - both in stiff. Also have a backup set of Weszty hybrids with Penley Stealth hybrid shafts in stiff. Do have access to a launch monitor with my fitter/pro EDIT: was warned that this original post didn't have an "ier" word in it. As any good correspondent knows - everyone needs an edit-ier. Especially a dumbass. Because for every dumbass, there is a someone who's dumbass-ier. Hope that's ballz-ier enough-ier

The way I always look at it is "when its been below freezing with snow on the ground for 3 weeks, I'm really going to regret not playing today!" That always gets me out there.

Excellent perspective! Did bundle up and played - course was in pretty good shape and not too crowded. Even shot an 81!

  10. Haven't picked up a club in nearly a month - heading to Toronto tomorrow, my hosts are bringing me on a "Team Building Exercise." I understand it involves long steel sticks with metal nubbies on the end. I hope I can remember which end to hold...

  12. Doesn't bother me any... Don't eclipse the elipse!
  13. First time out on the course in a couple of weeks yesterday -- used driver mostly and had my straightest driving day of the year. Length? Not so much, but short and in play beats long and in the woods every day of the week. Short game? A lot to little or a little too lot sums it up nicely, although had a handful of chips/pitches that left me in 1 putt territory -- working on "smooth" rather than "jab." After a 3 putt bogey on 9 left me a little edgy - proceeded to triple-bogey 10 (the whole looks to easy but is my arch-nemesis). Thought of tossing the clubs in the lake after driving into a FW bunker on 11, but saved par. Parred the next 3, the finished bogey-par-bogey par. Even had two "sandies" on the back -- leaving 2 foot putts both times. Okay, so I won't give up the game just yet...
  14. There's a punch line in there somewhere. Go get 'em, and play well!
  15. Had a nice round yesterday...an even 80 ( 9 over for the course). Hot front 9 (2 over 38 with a couple of lipped putts and one wimpy 4' effort to save par on 9) - included a birdie after hitting into a fairway bunker. Clipped a nice 6 iron from 155 out of the sand to about 12 feet. Back 9 started out as though the wheels were coming off. Hooked a drive on 10 into the weeds. 2nd shot was still in the weeds, 3rd shot advanced to the edge of the weeds. 4th shot was a 30 yard flop to 2 feet to save bogie (whew!). DB'd 11 from the middle of the fairway, TB'd 13 from the middle of the fairway, bogeyed the par 3 14th from the sand....and then parred in the rest of the way, making use of a 30 yard low-spinner on 18 that I learned from a video jmiller posted. 34 putts, 10 GIR's, 8 FW's hit, a few up n' downs...and the round had potential to be better. Can't wait for Sunday!
  16. Heading to Denver this week - plan a round at one of my favorite tracks - Fossil Trace. http://www.fossiltrace.com

  19. Dude - that reads like one of my rounds!!!! Well, except for the fairways hit...
  20. All I can say is: the ball don't lie! Great front 9 - two over 38 with some nice up 'n downs - only 12 putts. Back 9 - A cluster-youknowwhat from the git go. Parred the 2 Par 3's, but 4 DB's and 2 bogeys did us in...back in 46. When you play to an 11, you play to an 11. No kittens. No rainbows. The ball don't lie!
  21. Great weekend so far: golf, golf, install new garbage disposal and today: more golf and #2 son's 16th birthday!

  22. Birdie-whackiin' this morning - gonna give the new Moto a test run!

  23. Yup, that bold Luke Donald prediction's looking mighty fine now, ain't it?

  24. Oh driver, wherefore art thou driver? Why have you forsaken me?

  25. Stopped drinking altogether in 1997 -- didn't have a problem with booze, but was a tad worried I could be headed in that direction. Tried not drinking for a week, then a month, then 3 months...it turned into a year and at that point it was just easier not to drink at all. Got terribly dehydrated at a charity event 2 summers ago despite swigging down about 4 large Gatorades -- stuck with water from that point on.
