Just think, last year at this time I probably had 5 rounds in and it was 80. This year we will be lucky to golf in April

  2. Congrats guys! Looking forward to the reviews and sorry, but I can't resist this one... I'm jealous -ier!!
  3. I think you are good to go then. If you read the fine print it actually says "We'll send you a hybrid but you have to send it to hckymeyer when done reviewing"
  4. Waiting for Christmas morning is a breeze compared to waiting for golf season with new clubs sitting next to you!!

Storm petered out before it got here. We only got 7" or so. Unfortunately, the long term forecast doesn't even show the temperature reaching "average" in the next 2 weeks.

      Global warming my ass.

I feel Ya BK from the other side of Lake Mi. I am absolutely jonesing to get out and muck around when all this snow melts!

  5. 6.4 RBZ 14.5° w/ Grafalloy BiMatrix S flex Rescue '11 18° with Oban Kiyoshi 100 04 flex I was also going to go with MBP-ier, but I see that it's taken already Plus I don't think anyone could actually be more MBP-ier than the original. So depending on the timing of club arrival the beginning of my review could be much snow-ier or cold weather-ier than normal leading to more of an AboutGolf Simulator-ier review for the first couple sessions before getting onto the course.
  6. Excited to start my iron build. Finally got all my parts, tools, and supplies!!

The clubs look great!! Adams CMB w/ C-Taper S+. All at D5 swing weight and +1/2". I'll have to do an updated WITB, but I'm not sure I'm set with my hybrid right now.

  8. Are these like the bottles you use for doing paint fill? http://www.hancockfa...1VVviewprod.htm Edit: Nevermind, found a paint fill thread you commented on and had a link to the ones you use. I'll grab them or something similar from Amazon.
  9. Just going to sum it up here. You don't need to use tip weights. They are just a tool used to dial in a certain swing weight when you are building the clubs. Another popular method would be using tungsten powder. The powder is poured down the shaft until you get the desired weight and then you shove a cork down the shaft to hold it in place. If you aren't building your irons to any particular spec then you don't really need them. I will add in the obligatory remark about getting fit though. I'd highly recommend finding out what works best for you, then you can always use those specs to build up your new set. As BK already said you don't have to glue everything in right away. It's best to dry fit everything together and make sure you have the swing weight you want before you glue it up. Just make sure you have the grip installed when measuring the swing weight.
  10. I could actually use this product. In our regular Scotch game you get a point for closest to the pin, and many times we've had to walk off distance to see who was actually closer. But for $50 I just don't see it. I think this needs to be under $20 for the average joe to actually consider purchasing it. Since we don't actually need to get the distance, just see who is closest, we just picked up a $7 chalk line (minus the chalk) and it works perfectly. I also found a 100' Dewalt roll up tape measure with a clip on the end for $20, throw a carabiner on it and you have the same product for much less cost. Just measure the carabiner and subtract the distance if you want to actually clip it to the flag pole. Seems like it would do the exact same thing as the KP Golf Tape.
  11. Nice work RR, those look more like weapons than clubs now. Ninja style clubs
  12. Those are some nice looking sticks RR!! +1 on the red ferrules with red grips, that looks sweet. Some red PUREgrips with black writing would be killer.
  13. Definition of torture: Getting a new set of irons a week into the offseason and not getting to hit them for 4 months!!

Too bad I'm working in WI this weekend, I would love to get one last round in. I'm in the midst of record number of consecutive weeks driving back to southeast WI... I lost count, but it's around 8.

Definitely go visit 2nd Swing in Minnetonka... I went there for the first time this weekend and I felt like I walked into heaven. They have more clubs than you can shake a stick at. It'll cure even moderate to severe golf itch... Orrrrrr make it worse. There's only one way to find out.

I've been to 2nd Swing many times, great place to hit stuff. I'm also going to try and hit up Bunker Hills in Coon Rapids. They have simulators for indoor golf.

  15. Played my last round of the year on Wed and it was definitely a tale of two nines. Went out in 48. Couldn't make a putt with the belly and pretty didn't hit anything else either. Had three doubles and 6 bogeys. It was terrible. Came home in 39. Started hitting everything well and making some putts. Only had one birdie, but I'll take a 39 pretty much anytime.
  16. My wife wants me to ask what kind of boots those are. She wants a pair now...thanks
  17. Obviously tough to tell without looking, but more often than not it's some dried glue that broke free. Unscrew the shaft and see if the rattle is from the club head or from the shaft. Also double check all the screws and make sure they are tight. If it's in the shaft it's probably glue, if it's in the club head then someone else will have to give you ideas cause it's out of my league. If it really is in the shaft you can try heating it up with a heat gun to re-melt the glue and get it to stick. Or just pull the grip and see if anything will fall out the end.
  18. Played 54 in the past 3 days. It was the first time I've gotten to use the belly putter and also first time hitting the 3w I reshafted with a BiMatrix. Let's just forget the first day. Lost $50 playing 9-Point with 2 other guys and putting was ATROCIOUS!! I was all over the map with the belly putter. Couldn't hold a line, pulled some, pushed some and maybe got one putt over 10' to the hole. It was BAD. The 3w worked out so-so. I just didn't have my A game, but hit a couple that were ok followed by a 40yd topped shot. Yesterday and today went much better. Shot 80 and 82, not the best scores I've had this year by any means, but low enough for me to feel good about the rounds. Especially for Nov golf in MN. The biggest difference was the belly putter. I made a few tweaks to my setup and swing and it was a night and day difference. I still left a couple putts short, but not by much. And everything was going right were I was trying to hit it. I even had a couple 20-25 footers that went in. A big improvement over the past couple months with my regular putter. I had a handful of birdies and a couple of doubles. The 3w also behaved much better the past two days. I really love the RBZ + BiMatrix combo. The thing is basically point and shoot. Best shot of the 3 day stretch for me was on #9. It's a little over 500yd par 5 with a green that is surrounded by water on 3 sides. If the wind is with you it's not terribly difficult to get home in 2, but if it's at all into you then forget about it. I had about a 230 carry to get over the water and pulled out the 3w. The guy I was playing with (my bro in law) was already making fun of me for trying to go for it. I drilled it to about 15' right below the hole. Needless to say he drained a 25 footer downhill for birdie and I missed my eagle putt, but it was still the best shot I hit all day. All in all if I don't get to play again this year I'll be happy with the last two rounds of the year.
  19. 3 days in a row of November golf in MN...gotta love it!!

I'm playing this weekend! first time in a few weeks now. Good old twincitiesgolf.com has an event in Hastings for $20! You guys should sign up. It's a scramble.

  20. Just put the neon blue into a RBZ 3w head. Ended up tipping it a half inch and plays at 43". Love the way this club hits. It's basically point and shoot with a baby cut. Nice penetrating ball flight and no ballooning at all. Thanks for the review Rookie, I wouldn't have gotten one of these without reading it. I'm back in love with a 3w now
  21. Need to change the title to "WITB this week" Keep them coming though, you always have the best WITB pics, not to mention the best paint fill schemes.
  22. Great review Rookie!! I'm still loving my Kiyoshi setup, but for $80 that seems like a steel. I'm tempted to try it out in a 4w.
  23. Light blue sharpie and I put a smiley face on each side. Put's me in a good mood before each shot
  24. For me it depends more on what I need to do after golf than the golf itself. For instance, I have learned that if my wife is working nights and I am staying home with our 16 month old I should not drink on the course. I've learned that if someone in the group gets a hole-in-one I should probably spend the night at my brother-in-laws house instead of waking up my wife and son when I get home and can't make it up the stairs. So it really depends on the day, sometimes no, most of the time yes. FWIW I live on the course so I don't have to worry about driving home, which is both a very good thing and sometimes a very bad thing.
  25. Just finished reading all the responses in this thread and I'm actually a little surprised by how much some are bothered by music. For the past couple years I can probably count on one hand the number of rounds I've played without listening to music on the course. If I'm playing with a group of people I don't know, or I get close to other groups near a teebox or green then I will make sure it's turned way down. But if it's just me or the guys I regularly play with then we always have the tunes going. This thread is also perfect timing. We just moved over the winter to live on a golf course and my wife was nice enough to let me get my own cart. The first thing I did was order speakers for it (I haven't painted it yet, but I did just get my new seats today. Going to end up with a metallic blue color and two white stripes down the middle like an old Camero or Chevelle) Yes, those are 6x9's under the seats
