  1. If it happens it is 99/100 an accident. Give them a wave or congratulate them on a great / career shot. If it happens from the same group multiple times, remind them that they need to wait and inform the ranger or call the shop.

I have been hit by a ball struck not by more foursome 3 times.

Once with a stray drive on a course with overlapping holes - hit my arm after one hop from probably 80 yards away with driver. All good but had a welt. Finished playing.

Once on a par 5 approach… it was rolling when it struck my foot. Was a fellow member and I totally pulled the Happy Gilmore line.

I hit my friend with a drive when his group waved me through. He parked left and I snap hooked it into his stomach.

I have hit myself once… practicing and ball ricocheted into my face - lost some teeth.

  2. I probably lean more towards the 'stay the course.' It's too tempting to change gear to fix something vs. get a lesson or practice.

If you're contemplating a switch, get the putter fitting which is pretty cool and a neat experience. It may confirm that you need a change OR that your current stick is the best. When I did my putter fitting I went in because I wanted a premium putter -- never had owned one -- and I wanted the best one for me. I tried all the options and went with what felt/performed best. I was surprised by what I walked away with.

When I left with my new stick, I felt really confident it was the right one for me. I had data to prove it!

All that said, sometimes a change does help change your mindset. I'd keep changes to being measured in years - not months - or you'll just constantly be chasing.

  3. My home course has water, woods, and OB legit in play on 9-10 holes. The other holes it’s there but not really in play. I was averaging one lost ball per 18. Some rounds you play the same ball and other rounds you lose 1-2. It ticked up this winter when I got a little wild off the tee…

I will play the same ball until it’s lost. At Pinehurst last year I played one ball all week - 5 full 18 rounds + 27 holes on the short course. Hard to lose balls at Pinehurst!

  4. Favorite shot, tight draw with a driver or short iron. Wish it was 100% automatic... because it sucks when you setup for it and end up hitting a fade. Not so bad if you aim center cut and fade vs. draw but sometimes I find myself lined up too far right.

I have struggled with the 20 yard hook... which gets worse when I start aiming even more right to compensate.

How do folks work on visualizing when they setup to move the ball? I find that if I aim at where I want to start the ball it works well but I have to visualize where I want it to end up - otherwise I'll be right of my destination because somehow my body/brain adjusts to hit what I'm aiming at.
