  1. I’ll follow. Since you have already Broke 90 and an 18 ‘cap, I think breaking 85 is very achievable… maybe sooner than you think. When you post about your rounds, mention the hole where the score wasn’t good and why you think that happened. What’s your plan for next time you play the hole, and what are you going to practice to improve. Focus on the part of your game that caused the problem. Best of luck!!
  2. Doesn't take much to keep me in line; just… The Look.
  3. Rob, I won’t go into putter advice or the putting stroke for that matter. Many good comments above. I’m looking at your scorecard, and most all GIR misses were short; understandably playing from longer tees and windy conditions. All of the doubles were short, meaning that the chip/pitch could have been better or the pins were in difficult locations. Personally, I find chipping on aerated greens to be very frustrating; ball doesn’t react like usual. If the holes are located in difficult positions, 3-putts can happen on those aerated greens. Don’t beat yourself up over 9 holes played under less than ideal conditions. I guess what I’m saying is that your putting may not be as bad as you make it out to be. You haven’t been playing or practicing, and you may have introduced a compensation for the quality of the greens. It’s quite easy to unconsciously move your body during the stroke. Monte pointed that out to me at a clinic, and I have to work prior to each round to eliminate it. Get back on that green and putt with a purpose. However, since I am also a MGS Forum Member, I would suggest that you should awaken your club ‘ho tendencies and pick a putter; something totally off the wall.
  4. Happy Birthday @Urrrshurrr, @kmaren, and @Golf_and_Tacos!! Enjoy your day today!!
  5. FYI, I’m a “D" car driver.
  6. Well, not really. You have to remember that she played with her dad starting at 8 years old, through H.S., but didn’t play much for 30 years because of her back and literally working in the dark. She owned a custom photo lab and “lived” in the darkroom; in winter… go to work in the dark, work in the dark, go home in the dark. When I met her in 2000, she was still playing PowerBilt persimmon woods and blades. After her back surgery in 2008, she really started to play a lot, and when she retired in 2019 she wanted to spend as much time as possible outside on the golf course. Who can blame her?! She’s excited about Kingsmill and meeting the guys that she only knows by the posts I read to her. She’s lost a bunch of distance recently because the next vertebrae up from the fusion is now causing problems. You will definitely like her because… well, she’s Irish!!
  7. Years ago, our area got an influx of roundabouts; someone must have made a visit to Europe, but downsized them to where they are hazardous when a lot of traffic is present. West Richland put in one about 5 years ago, and this last fall they took it out; too many accidents! In Kennewick at the intersection of two 4-lane freeways US395 and WA240, there is a double intersection that 18-wheelers have trouble negotiating without running over curbs...
  8. I used to do this, and thankfully I’m not anymore! Not something people with heart problems should do; constricts arteries raising blood pressure. Checking with your doc would be a good idea before starting.
  9. Good Morning everyone!! A little rain started early this morning and 44º; sprinkles most of the day and only low 50’s. Wife is headed out to play with Ladies League. Not sure how she’ll play with the heart monitor glued to her chest, but she has to get used to it over the next two weeks. Warmer weather coming!! Got a few chores to do and spending time in my hitting bay stretching and light exercise; not going anywhere today!! For those that are working… make us proud! For those that aren’t working… play well!!
  10. Happy Birthday!! Sounds like you are having a lot of fun. Love True shoes!! Don’t wear any currently, but will be looking at them later this year. I still have their original “clown” shoes!!
  11. That's when I moved up, and that was two years ago!! Don’t miss being back there a bit.
  12. Well done Jason! Your post should give other MGS newcomers an idea of what the forum is all about. I’m waiting for “… the rest of the story”.
  13. Happy Birthday @funkyjudge, @alfriday101, @Randall Robbins, @JRapp314, @mbmdvm, @Dezzy93 and @Hugh Craigie!! Whew!! What a list! Have a great day and hope it involves golf.
  14. Agree!! I keep picturing golf in the beginning in Scotland, and trees were relatively non-existent. WTH happened??
  15. Welcome @Znakey21 and @Joseph Riddle!! DSB exaggerates a lot (I think), but he’s not wrong on this one.
  16. Limit my galavanting?? I don’t think so. I wondering what that monitor will show when she’s playing golf tomorrow with the Ladies League!! The course opens tomorrow after aeration, and the fairways will have plug holes (and probably a few plugs laying around); the greens will be plugged and sanded but not enough sand and the wind is blowing 15-25mph. Also, she gets so upset because some of ladies are so slow. She hates it when they stop and do their nails at the turn! Me? I’m just going to galavant around to the golf store; no reason to go to the course to practice on crap greens.
  17. Good Morning everyone!! It’s 39º but will be sunny and 64º later. Today I’m headed to Home Depot for fertilizer and bermuda crabgrass killer. This afternoon my wife heads to cardiology to receive a heart monitor that she has to wear for at least two weeks; monitoring for an irregular heart beat. I hope she’s not catching what I had!! Best wishes for a great day!!
  18. I struggled to answer the poll. I’m usually a straight-ish driver but lack distance to effectively score low. Approach is my weakest part of my game because of shorter shots off the tee and inconsistent ball striking. Once I get inside 100 yards, my short game will help save an otherwise poor round or help me produce a low round. I found it difficult to determine whether the best part of my game was pitching, chipping or putting; I consider all of them to be part of the short game, including bunker play. Sometimes it’s my wedge play, other times it might be chipping or putting. The low rounds are produced when all are working; unfortunately they don’t all work well at the same time very often… so I guess my answer has to be Short Game.
  19. Happy Birthday @Josh Parker (again), @gman8966, @wolfpacker92, @lyndonbud, @Mr Orange, @DAGolfer, and @GolfSpy TCB. Hope you all find great times with family and friends today!!
  20. Good Morning everyone! OK, I’ll pile on the notifications to @Josh Parker… Have a great Happy Birthday!! Off the cardiac rehab in a couple of hours, then we have an appointment with our tax accountant to sign our tax return. Since we have both retired, we end up paying a little each year. Ugh! Next on the agenda for the day is to pick our condo stay dates for our annual winter golf trip; looks like we are headed back to Scottsdale in 2025. Hope you all have a non-manic Monday!! No golf for me today; aerating the course for the next two days… started yesterday at 2pm. I’m going to miss good putting conditions until May.
  21. Happy Birthday Bill!! I told Martha you were looking at Eleanor at the auction. Showed her the top photo where you said you now own and Eleanor Mustang. You said Wow!! He bought it!! Then showed her the bottom photo… priceless!!
  22. Good Morning everyone! Getting ready to head to the course; tee time at 7:50am. Temp is 44º but no rain in the forecast, maybe a sprinkle. The bad news is that it won’t get to 50º by the time we finish. At my age I like it a LOT warmer than that!! Found out that the course is closing at 2pm today through Tuesday for aeration; greens fairways and tee boxes. So, preferred lies in the fairways for the next week of so and poor putting for the next 6 weeks… they don’t put enough sand on the greens; the wind blows the sand off; and the irrigation washes it in the plug holes. They don’t add more sand, so it gets bumpy… and they were running nice and fast, just the way I like it!! Have a super Sunday and if you are able to play… Play Well!!
  23. Went OK. Way too much information for me; I don’t need or want to know all that data. Seems that my path at contact was slightly closed but face is slightly open and consistency is poor. Not surprising since I don’t look at the ball. I haven’t been doing much practice lately because of my back pain and weather; so I might improve that… however, They added 1º loft to my putter, now 4º and then I made 6 of 7 putts with the other hanging on the edge. Yesterday was the first time on the course with it and I had good speed, just missed a couple and made a 12 footer for birdie. The ball seems to roll a little more effortlessly. My other Ping putter which is 4 inches longer, was adjusted to the same lie angle 72º with 0º loft. Haven’t tried it yet; don’t have a good feel for how to hold the putter in reverse armlock. I had OK speed with it, but couldn’t roll the ball consistently straight.
  24. I have shot my age at least once every year since I turned 74. Gets easier every year… turn 77 in May.
