Yes very wise indeed. I am also reminded that my grannie used to say "Rome was not built in a day"

I am not a swing guru and never taught when I was a class A. I tell anyone taking lessons several things. First off find an instructor that you are comfortable with. I also stress get one who understands your individual body and your limitations. Another thing is practice practice and practice some more exactly what your instructor shows you. Do not watch any instructional videos on media period and do not read any instructional articles. Yep one or 2 lessons and one or two rounds will not do it--- I takes work

It looks like rain for us for the weekend. I have not scheduled myself to play the small money game for Friday. Now I am on as a fill in on a Scramble team for Saturday but from the look of things that will be a washout. As SOP for us I will stay in on any holiday weekend here except early golf and of course Church on Sunday. My wife as usual when she gets off work Thursday morning ( stocker at Wal Mart 2 nights a week) will do all the grocery shopping etc. In our 23 years at this Tourist and retirement mecca we have learned to stay close in during holidays.

Well up kinda late for me this AM. Only on the second cup of coffee. Today is sorta a light yard work day and light practice day. I beat my expectations in the first day of our event. I shot 79 (+7) gross off a 15 index with taking the whole handicap. I am tied for the lead with two other players at 64 net. I was really pleased because the round could have been much lower. I had a triple and a double in all of that with 3 lip out birdies. My mess ups were due to me playing extremely well and the old Stu resurfacing in trying to hit 2 hero shots I had no business trying. I did exceed my goal of being in the top 5 and I had it figured I could do that with a 80 or 81 so I exceeded my expectations. Our handicaps are fixed through the event but I have already been told mine WILL go down come Friday. It does not phase me one bit. I am not really into it to win money or events but for the comp and exceeding my personal goals. My overall goal is to get it back down to single digit specifically the 5 I was at before my accident. One of the guys I am tied with is a solid 5 and a good stick. Pre accident I could hang with him and in 19 he beat me by one shot in the Open club comp in the Championship flight. The other guy I know entirely nothing about. He laughed yesterday and said well it looks like 19 again and I told him on my end I hope it turns out in my favor this time. We got a big laugh. Yep we are in the last group for Thursday. Win lose or draw I have already exceeded my expectations. I basically wanted in the hunt and I did it. I have had several phone calls and am the sentimental favorite because everyone knows what I have went through the last 3 years. But really I do not feel any pressure at this time. I have already written me a 3x5 card to go on the cart Thursday " Leave my balls at home and pack extra brains"

Well you know some people have been sheltered and have not seen anything real life. Me if I was your neighbor it would not faze me at all because I wear boxers and have tattoos myself. I might have laughed as I ran over to help you in similar attire

What is funny I am playing basically the same irons as he is. The difference is mine are the CBs which have the same shape just have the pocket cavity like the Bridgestone J-33s. For now mine are pristine. When I traded for them 2 years ago they only had 2 rounds on them. I have several practice sessions on them and maybe 25 rounds. Mine are also the same year as his. As well as I like them and are getting used to them I can see me wearing mine down like that. And this sounds funny coming from me I know but I do not have any lead tape on them because none is needed plus these days I am going the lighter route

Good Morning everyone--- Up as SOP early of course coffee going and 2 cups already consumed. We have the first of a 2 day Men's League tournament. Getting ready for it. Yesterday was sorta mudane and I basically took the day off. I was up early and we ate breakfast and I went back to bed. Got up and did some short game stuff off the mat in the yard. Decided to ride over to the course about 2 or so and did some short game practice and then did a 6 hole practice round playing my vintage stuff with my front line wedges and a putter I am experimenting with. Just fun and relaxation for me.

Good Sunday morning. Was up early as SOP for me. Rode over to Church early and did the warm up and run up on the sound. Another guy is running it on the 9 AM so I went back home. Will be back to run for the 10:30 service though. It is raining here again. Supposed to drizzle all day. Played the 9 and Dine Friday afternoon did decent considering we only used 3 of my partners shots. Played as a fill in in the Shootout yesterday. Got invited to play as a fill in in the Homeowners Association event today. I do not live in the community our course is in but was invited anyhow as a last minute fill in. I turned it down as I have church duties and do not want anything to do with the Association anyhow. Normally Sunday is Church day and a rest day for me. As much golf and practice as I have been doing lately I need the rest. Looking forward after Church to settling in for the day and watching the PGA

That rain you guys will get came straight North up the coast from us. Our course needed it bad

Now you can not go by me but I had to do the opposite. Back when I was hurt I was doing the narrow stance short swing thing. Since I have healed up some I have lengthened my swing and thus getting off balance at the top because of my nerve damage in my back not letting me feel things. I have lost a minute bit of distance but staying on balance and hitting the ball more straight and solid. Played like crap Tuesday and did a range session and realized that I had played better when I was hurt. Played great Wednesday. In other notes I just got the text and the 9& dine is on for this afternoon and we are riding the fairways. Also playing as a fill in on a shootout team tomorrow. Those two events will give me a chance to try a wedge I built up plus another putter I bought for a back up for my Scotty

Yep really pulling for him after seeing his interview on the course. WRX had his WITB and he is playing basically the same irons as I am now. Basically the same clubs and the same vintage. What I really appreciate about him is his general attitude and teaching philosophy.

Well up as usual on "Stu Time". First cup of coffee down and fixing to get the second. Watching the rebroadcast of the PGA Championship. I never get tired of watching golf on a Ross course. No golf yesterday due to rain and wind. None this AM either for the same reasons. I had not scheduled the Friday money game because we are supposed to have a 9& Dine this afternoon. More than likely it will be cancelled early because of course conditions. But we needed the rain it has been dry. Fixing to fire up some country ham, redeye gravy and grits. I did get a "newused" putter yesterday. A friend of mine on WRX had bought this Wilson Michigan flow neck used and decided he did not need a toe hang putter. He sold it to me for what he had in it plus shipping. Came out to be $55 total. Sits and feels good for me. Looks and sits just like a flow neck Scotty Flatback. Believe it or not weight is on no lead tape needed. Hoping it clears some this PM and I can roll it some.

Hope the dog gets ok... LOL "Stu Time" that is actually a real thing. When I drove a truck at the recycling company they hired me and let me run my own program. Usually they gave me the list of what needed to be ran. I was ready and left the yard promptly at 4 AM every morning. That was and still is known as "Stu Time". Always told the new drivers if you wannna run with me be there and hit the gate going out WFO at 4 AM

I can understand because my wife has the same problem with the "women's anatomy" plus she is extremely petite at only 4' 11". I have her scheduled next month with an instructor friend of mine who is well known around here and in the past played the LPGA
-
LOL he is trolling us see that is his first post----- But since you brought it up the only rule I could see as being enforceable would to be to limit total putter length to 35" period. But then again I could see where some people could arm lock that

I used to go hunting some with them but really did not get into it. Now the dogs themselves I loved them and still do. I never liked eating Quail and the old man taught me to never kill any game you would not eat. Now I kept rabbit boxes because I would eat rabbit. Yeah my Old Man knew a lot of people and I met a lot of folks growing up
-
My old man was an English Setter man but we did have a few pointers. He and the infamous golf hustler Leon Crump were in that business together. They bred and trained the dogs. Leon's brother did the field trial work. When Quail season came in usually the Friday after Thanksgiving they were in the woods and fields hunting every day except Sunday. Sunday hunting was against the law in NC at the time. Hunting season usually ended February 15th. When they old Kemper Open came to Charlotte Tom Weiskopf came by looked at and bought 2 dogs from them. He said he would be back in 2 weeks. He and some guy showed up at our place in a 2 year old Cadillac and loaded the dogs in the back seat with Tom stating a good dog needs to have a good car to ride in.

Been an early riser all my life. Mine came from my folks running that golf course. In the summer I was up early cutting fairways or the rough with gang mowers then at the cart barn by 6 to get carts out then back on a tractor. Later on I ended up running the driving range. Winter time I had Bird Dogs to feed and Rabbit Boxes to check before the bus picked me up for school. Today I have been up since 3 AM but am rested up. I was exhausted yesterday afternoon and went to sleep around 4 or so. Now I am on here and watching the Golf I missed yesterday. I am taking off from Golf the next 3 days. I have played 6 of the last 7 days and am tired in a good way. No pain or stiffness but I guess to say out of gas. I know the last 4 holes I could barely get the club back. One of my buds in a well meaning way told me I was pushing too hard. Not worrying too much on the back it is fine. I have lost 10 lbs in 2 weeks. Today I will do some yard work and I have a couple of shop projects. Tomorrow Church work. Monday our course has the Annual Ladies Invitational so the small money group is playing up the road. I do not like that course and besides I paid good money for a membership and am not going to pay $45 to play there. Taking Monday off golf wise and will piddle around here some and I need the golf break. I do have 4 events next week. Tuesday and Thursday league, Friday afternoon 9 and Dine with the wife and Saturday as a fill in on a Shootout team. Someone asked the other day what I did now and I told them play golf.

My sentiments exactly. Lots of times it depends on the course and the area. My course is rough and dry plus being in a Seaside salt and sand environment it is rough on clubs. Those TM CBs I have been playing were pristine and after 25 rounds they are beginning to show some wear and nicks. But like you said nicks patina and scratches give street creed. Now I do wipe off with a wet towel after every shot and keep the grooves clean. And also like you I could give 2 hoots less if someone uses covers or not

Around here we have a name for the clear neoprene covers----- Club Condoms

Last week mid week out weather gurus were predicting we would get that storm and the weekend would be a washout. I think it turned South quick and you guys got it. We did not get a drop
-
Same with us my course is getting baked out and dry. We need rain and warm nights for the Bermuda to pop back out.

You mean Drunken Jacks? Yep it is still hopping as usual WFO

We have a Bealls Department Store up in Surfside. It used to be Burkes. I used to buy all my large man stuff there. We were in there like 2 months ago and I could not find any large stuff for me. Now I do know in those type places it is how they get stuff and when. I asked a young lady working there and she seemed disinterested and could care less. Ok fine we went over to the bypass and went to Hamericks which is a larger SC based store. I bought about $200 worth of stuff which should last me a while. I doubt we will ever go in Bealls again

My wife in the past has managed Pizza Inns and Pizza Huts. She told me chain restaurants have their strict sanitation policies. She says that their theory is if one restaurant gets a bad reputation on sanitation etc that the whole chain may get that reputation. I know for a fact that these days their main issue is service. A few years back the Applebees right down the street closed. Not from sanitation but sorry service. I went on line one night to complain and there were over 600 complaints in a 6 month span from tourists and locals alike on sorry service. Right after that they closed it and I will note this was pre pandemic. A local steakhouse with 3 locations moved into that building and did so well they outgrew it in like a year and they re did a larger facility in the heart of Restaurant Row in Murrells Inlet. Same with Chilis located up by the old Wicked Stick golf course and this was pre pandemic too. We tend to eat at local owned places where we know the owners well. Our exception is the Waffle House in Surfside Beach where they have a real stable crew and treat us well. Now the Waffle House in Murrells Inlet frankly sucks. poor service and lousy food. I will go across the street to the 7-11 and eat a hot dog or a slice of cardboard pizza before I eat in there. I know my Manager in Surfside told me the other day that district went in there the other day and cleaned house. He winked at me and said that it does not mean we need to go down there and check it out. I told him naah I like his Waffle House and his people
