  1. Probably was Aberdeen in South Carolina. I don't remember much of it, but know it was tight and I could not hit a fairway all day. However, it was the site of my first eagle from 80 yards out so there is that.
  2. Played last week and was absolutely brutal with my irons. Could not hit a single one straight and lost my laser range finder. Tomorrow I'm hoping the course has it. As for this week I have 3 days off so I'm trying to play at least 2/3 but with a half an inch of rain could be tough to find a course around here that is playable. Got to love the desert.
  3. It's been 80 here all week. I feel for you guys and gals in the northern climates. As much as I like it down here sometimes, I do miss the cold.
  4. Also can on occasion result in a glass shattering sound and cart screech. Played today. Oof is all I can say. I hit the irons at the range yesterday pretty well, and then today the wheels came off, along with the doors, and i'm pretty sure the engine as well. I drove the ball ok, I had some good ones and some meh ones, but on one hole alone I had a double hit (hit the shaft) a top, a screamer, a chunk and a wedge with no spin. I've been trying to figure them out for a while now, but think towards the end I figured out what I was doing wrong... even though I put one in the water. Side note: finished with two birdies, but shot around 100. Missed my first hole in one by all of 4 inches, and the ball had to slide across the front. Also drained a thirty footer for birdie, but still am depressed about the lack of iron play.
  5. Lucky. If they offered that to me I'd suddenly come down with the flu, or ebola, or frankly whatever disease I could think of first.
  6. Played a few days ago and shot over 10 strokes better. Still can't hit an iron but putted lights out from 5 feet and under. My driver has been erratic though, some holes I kill it and others I'm putting it OB. Figures that as my irons slowly improve to mediocre my driving game would pick up the slack and screw me up.
  7. Bought a watch when I graduated middle school. Wore it for a year or two but between batteries dying and my wrist becoming tree limb sized didn't wear one for a while. Bought another watch last year but it fell apart on me within months, and just ordered a new one for cheap off Amazon two days ago.
  8. Played a full 18 by myself for almost 6 months at a new course on 3 hour sleep. It was not pretty. Shot 98 well over the mid to upper 80's I was tossing this time last year. Since that time I've become a lot better driver, a terrible Iron player, and a weak putter. The complete 180 from last year. I've already booked a tee time for Tuesday but thinking maybe I should play Monday as well. I've got the itch again to play a lot.
  9. Wow... I feel spoiled here. It was 90 today here. I worked 12 straight days... so didn't get a chance to play recently. Hit the range today to very mixed results. I think I'm playing tomorrow on my 3rd day off.
  10. thats awesome. beer and cigars on the golf course are always a winning strategy... My only thought is I can't truly enjoy a cigar on the golf course... I would love to find a place that has a cigar porch. On my note shot 88 today which was awful. My driving went from revolutionary to revolting... Just couldn't get my timing down on some shots. Had plenty of chips that spanned the gambit from really good to really really bad. Had 2-3 chunks and a few knee knockers. Irons came around pretty well... so I can't argue. The big saving grace was the putter. I had back to back to BACK! 15 footers tiring someone in match play. At least 2-3 were really tough including getting up and down from the dirt and hitting a down hill 15 footer. A few holes later I ended up hitting a 25 footer straight in. I had one three putt on the second hole, but otherwise the flat stick was on fire. I probably ended up with 28 putts, but really it was the quality of the putts I hit, where several were dying 2-3 inches from the hole from 30-40 feet. Just one of those days I haven't seen in far too long.
  11. Always wanted to do a round with 3-4 clubs. Never have but figured it would be fun. I'm playing tomorrow but bringing the whole clubs out.
  12. Played today at 7AM... after being out at 2 AM with a friend having some fun. Nothing like a round on 3 hours of sleep. We played the betting game Wolf between 4 guys and had a skins game going also o the side. I played actually really well in spurts where I was smashing the ball 250-265 and piping it down the center. My putting was on fire early, but the irons and wedges were lacking... then by the time i hit the back nine, it reversed itself... where I was crushing irons but wasn't doing anything with the flagstick and the driver started to have issues. I had 5 skins and a won a few holes. The big loss was going 1 on 3 on a par 3 and 3 jacking it. As a side note... one of the most interesting courses I've ever played. The first 3-4 holes are frankly awful. Generic 275 dead straight shots with no danger... flat as a pancake. Fairways are hairier than Chewbacca... Then all of the sudden the back nine turns into one of the more pretty courses I've seen. Just a perfect desert golf. Never got a straight answer why the course is like that, but it's really an interesting set up.
  13. LOL Played today for the first time in two weeks. course only allowed me to play nine, but I go out there as a single and basically never saw anyone else on my nine. Shot about a 45 which isn't my best, but considering the last months' inactivity... not surprising. What really killed me is putting. I'm used to slower greens out here and today they were quick. I had two or three blow by the hole by over 8 feet. I only made a few of the com backers. Big thing though was I was hitting my irons pretty well and nearly holed out a chip.
  14. One... I can't believe there wasn't more shaft jokes thrown in this review... Second... Are they full compression shorts or a hybrid underwear compression?
  15. Haha. I think this weekend I'm going to play. Temperatures should be right around 100 all week, which means I should be ok if I start in the morning.
  16. AS of right now it's still in the mid to upper 90's. Things are slowing down here and turning dry. The courses out here are prepping for winter... so going to find one to play later in the week that's not aerating.
  17. Sounds awesome. I live about 3 hours away from there... so hopefully you can send me a scouting report.
  18. First time I hit a golf course in two weeks, and the results weren't awful. We played in a 4 man scramble on a par 36 9 hole course with 20+ groups. I actually had to leave on 17 because I had work... as it took us 6 HOURS to play 18. The results weren't bad, we finished -5, but probably should have been a lot better. Never bogeyed a hole, but missed more than 6 putts from inside 25 feet as a 4 some. The scratch golfer and my superior wasn't on his A game driving, but I really picked up the slack for him. I also added a few nice irons and even a putt. The other two members had a max handicap and other than a putt and a par 3 were largely not needed. Basically considering how I played I would have shot a 90ish, but with a scratch golfer several of my shots were put to good use on approaches.
  19. Since I started playing regularly in 2006 I've had 2 periods where I didn't play much. One was my freshman year of college, because I didn't have a car ride to the course. then my junior year, I barely played, and lost touch with my two golfing buddies. quite literally I sat around on a summer day and said screw it, I'm breaking the cycle and went out and played. I was averaging 1-2 a week up until a month ago and stopped playing. I recently played Saturday for the first time in a month, and will probably start to get back out there this week. big factor for me though is time, I rarely have any to play.
  20. I'll stick with my driver for the long ones and wedge for the shorter ones. the rest can enjoy being gone.
  21. Ugh. I'm a die hard Rangers fan. hope you enjoy that one. I'm more a beer and cigar person but to each his own.
  22. Played today for the first time in 3 weeks other than hitting the range. Irons have def improved in consistency... although I had a few hanks which is unusual for me. Managed to shoot 91 but it was one bad hole that killed me. I drove the ball well but gave myself not a lot of easy putts... but had no 3 putts, even two putted from 60 feet. Not bad for not playing in a few weeks.
  23. Congrats... breaking 90 took me years to do... I'm going on 5-6 years while breaking 90 that I can't break 80. That is the worst part, trying to get better.
  24. Good luck. Took me about a month before I started getting truly used to my new clubs. Once I did, it was lower scores almost right away.
