  1. Finally got a chance to get out and played this morning. I didn't hit the ball as crisp as I wanted to but I've not touch a club for quite a while so I'm just grateful to be out there. I didn't put on my gamegolf so I didn't keep my score. I'm pretty sure it's somewhere in the low 80's. The good news is I only missed one fairway. Hopefully, I get to play more and get back to my old rhythm soon. I miss golf.
  2. It's not too bad, if you must Golf then you'll find the way. I wake my behind up so early and get things done. My wife golfs so it's not as bad and my excuse has always been I'm gettin' my game ready for my 4 year old daughter. Plus, I've been busy with my other project and have not Golf or practice in a few weeks and it starts to show, I'm a bit irritable, the other day my wife said to me “hon, why don't you get up a little earlier and squeeze in a round” What ruins the relationship is when your spouse is that much better than you, in college my ex was a scratch when I was a 14hc, that's why she's my ex. . Hold your horses! I'm just kidding. I thought it was sexy as hell, she could beat me in her sleep. I came closed on one round, I sank everything and hit every fairways, almost, and she seemed to miss every first and some second putts she shot 80 to my 83, if memory served me right. That was the last 80 she ever had in my presence.
  3. Battle golf is my fav. It's like playing chess.
  4. First time out this year as well, it's been crazy at work and then wet conditions for the past few days kept me out. I want to get back out on the course so I took my light set out with only 7 clubs and tried to get my game back into grove. I think it went well, many shots put a smile on my face and I felt myself doing a mini fist pump. I didn't check but I think I shot 77, which makes me quite happy. I played so few rounds last month I didn't have any kind of expectations.
  5. I played a nine today getting ready for a big round tomorrow. I'm playing with 3 old friends 2 I haven't played with in 14 years. I spent a bucket hour hitting 105 yards today using 3 wedges 45* W, 51* AW, and 54* SW. I had a good streak going and if I can bring half of today's results to tomorrow's round I'd have a round of my life.
  6. I had a great time this morning playing. I was sick as a puppy but after missing in action for a few weeks I miss my normal routine to I went. Scoring wise it was nothing to write home about 3 strokes a side on my Home course usually feels like 10 over to me but I didn't really care. I went into the autopilot mode and step aside. I enjoy the feeling a lot. One extraordinarily average shots after another plotting my way thru the front then the back nine. No extra focus or laser guided shots just fairways then greens and 2 putts or a chip or two. If I can recall this ability all the time I'll be ok with the score. It's quite peaceful.
  7. It was 45* at 5:30 this morning here in SoCal, yes it was chilly. Cold and dry, I didn't have a good time til the back nine when it was much warmer. Shot 41-36. I play with a a couple of my new wedges and intentionally put a few shots in the bunkers and not thinking or more importantly, caring much about the score, somehow I manage to save par and on the par 5 18th make a birdie. It's a funny game.
  8. That's just awesome rev. I agree with the irons. As we get older it's harder to produce great result with longer irons especially when companies continue to make the loft stronger and stronger. Most avg players can get much better result with high lofted hybrid. Sadly many golfers care more about what than we hit than how we hit it, myself included. It takes very long time to reach golf mental maturity and usually it's too late for many to still enjoy their power game.
  9. Hey look on the bright side you can....... ...sorry I've got nothing. I either mountain biking or golfing this just sucks. You can take a short vacation to SoCal. It's prettu chili at night mid 50s but during the day it's toasty mid 80s.
  10. Walked a round yesterday, shot 36 front and 44 back. Toward it got to me that I was tired and my shot direction and distance really affected. I still haven't recovered from an injury from a few weeks ago.
  11. Hey happy holidays to y'all. Hope you guys did well during the holidays and score big on the sales. I picked up a few good deals. Got sick so I stayed off the course for a few days then it turned in to more days, went back out today. Shot 78 but played really well. Hit all fairways and gir on all par 3s, that's usually the perk of not playing for a while for me. The down side is the price I pay for not playing all the time, touches on the greens and around. It's ridiculous how much due one has to pay for many shots to feel automatic and routine.
  12. Played a very slow round yesterday 3:15 mins front nine alone and 2:30 mins back nine. I had 9 birdies, 2 back to back and the rest were every other holes. Here's the twist, I bogey and doubles the rest. Ended up shooting 76. So I either one putt or 3 putt every hole. One minute was a stud the next I was a dud. One hole knock my approach to a tap in, then it took 4 shots to get on the green the next hole. Luckily we played in front of the beer girls, they were out playing after their event was over. They couldn't play to save their shoelaces but no one complained we're all enjoying their presence. Secretly, I'm sure all the guys were betting when their tight shorts will burst every time the move.
  13. Had a fun day today. Steady Eddy shot 76. Fight a cold still but the paring partners were interesting. Father and son and uncle. Among the three there are probably over 60 years of golf. First the dad was a big guy with some gas problem. It seems to leak everytime he moved:), I was fine but I just stay away and up wind from him. The uncle may have been hit in the head a few times as he likes to stand directly in front of the person hitting the ball. Then come the highlights of the round, the son hit the drive that ended up behind a big tree about 15-20 yards in front of the ball. After a few moment of consideration and while waiting for the group in front of us to clear the green, he turned and asked me. I said punch out side way is the safest route and if done diagonally, he wouldn't lose any distance. He said he could fade it around the tree, he's done it before. Jokingly, I said hit it well or “duck”. He hit it square to the tree and bounce right back to hit him in the groin. Yelp! I swear, he hit the ground so fast like someone bet him a million dollars that he couldn't dig a hole with his face. They got enough class to joke about it the rest of the round. Fun crowd, I hope I get to play with them again. Talking about it I could still feel his pain.
  14. I played late yesterday, I was waiting for my new iPhone X to arrive and then setting it up. I haven't decided yet if it's a good phone or not but it sure is cool. I put my wife's odyssey chipper in the bag and for the obvious reason, tried to use it as often as I could. That thing is a hoot to use. I holed 2 shots from off the greens and chipped the ball pretty close a few times. Played only 14 holes and turned in 2 over. I was pleased. I tried on one of the low lip bunker and it was as easy as putting. It bakes the question, why don't they make one with 60*
  15. I was invited to play at Pelican Hills. A relative came for a visit from overseas, and they want me to play golf with them. I took them out at my course and somehow they've already booked this. Though I played there a few times before but seriously, wow! Took a mulligan each nine on the North course and shot 78 still have no idea how. It was unusually cold and the gusts of wind picked up every so often. I wish I can afford to play there a few times a month. It's not as religious experience as Pebble Beach but it came pretty close, not to mention the grub. Hopefully I'm invited to play the south course soon.
