  1. Awesome. I'm coming off used ProV1x balls that I get from the bay so I'm hopeful. Plus no else plays them so that's a bonus. It was hard to judge the spin because the greens were so wet and slow.
  2. I played the MG Tour C4 ball for the first time yesterday. Really happy with the performance so far. I'll be interested to see how it does once the courses start to firm up.
  3. 43-40 for an 83 today. Hit some really bad shots that I'll attribute to winter rust because it makes me feel better. I chunked what felt like just about every wedge I hit. Putting was also rusty but made a few longer ones - 19 on the front, 15 on the back. Put the Mizuno JPX 850 driver in play today and was extremely pleased with the results considering the course was wet and there was zero roll out. Longer than my G25 and just as accurate. Hit two greens with my 3H from 210 out. One was a par 5 that I proceeded to 3 jack for a par and the second was a longer par 4 after a poor drive and managed to save par. Overall I'm really happy with the results of the first round of the year. Still need to put the hammer down on putting practice as well as from 100 yards and in.
  4. I've had a brutal head cold since I worked on Saturday but it's going to be 65* today. I will not miss out on getting the first round of the season in.
  5. I went and and got fit for a driver for the first time this past weekend. Ended up going with the Mizuno JPX 850. Picked up about 15 yards of carry over my G25 by being able to dial in the spin and launch numbers. Based on my range session today, I'm extremely excited about it. Consistently hitting baby draws with it. Also picked up the JPX 850 3W as well as 19* and 23* JPX Fli Hi hybrids with Nippon N.S. Pro 1150 shafts at 2* up to match my irons. Really excited for this season.
  6. That's pretty awesome. I'm excited for this. If you happen to need an extra participant to further your review I'd be happy to take a ride over to Honey Run one day haha.
  7. I typically play just in front of the tips, depending on the yardage.
  8. This is a cool thread. In my short 3 year golf career I haven't traveled much to play golf yet. Toughest courses I've played are local to me and probably not that difficult in the grand scheme of things but difficult enough for me. The first one is Rocky Gap Resort located in Cumberland, MD (NW part of the state). It's a Jack Nicklaus design. Turns out Jack and I don't get along very well. Very tight course with lots of elevation changes and some absolutely brutal approach shots. The second one that comes to mind is the Links at Gettysburg south of Gettysburg, PA. High grass, clay bunkers, a fair amount of water, and some brutal undulation in the greens. Rocky Gap Resort Links at Gettysburg
  9. Lol pretty close. 50 is my limit for short sleeves.
  10. I would pay money for it to be 45* right now with no snow on the ground. Although the forecast is looking up, might be able to get some rounds in the next two weeks.
  11. Awesome man! I'll be hitting the Tour Edge in my driver fitting in a few weeks and I'm looking forward to it.
  12. I'm not sure how I feel about them. I know I wouldn't bag one because I don't like the looks of any of the designs. I do like the idea of the adjustable weight though. Adjustable lie I'm not so sure of. Seems like it would be better just to get a putter fitting from someone that knows a hell of a lot more than I do. I think too much adjustability can cause more trouble than it's worth sometimes.
  13. I'm intrigued. I might have to try these out.
  14. Just ordered the 2015 Ogio Chamber Cart Bag. Pretty excited about it. I'll be doing a review as soon as it comes in.

  15. I ended up playing a club less but didn't adjust well. It was definitely a learning experience. I didn't putt terrible but the speed really threw me off at first like you said Kenny. I only had 3 decent looks at birdie but couldn't get any of them to drop. On #1 I hit my 45* and it landed in the center of the green and bounced up over the greenside bunker behind the green. I had a downhill lie with the green sloping away and duffed one with my 58* that just barely made it back over the bunker. I gathered myself and chipped the next one in for par. Never give up on a hole and focus on the shot you're hitting - not the one you just hit and not the one you might hit next. You never know what's going to happen. The SCORs definitely got a workout today since I only had 3 GIRs.
  16. Played today. 35* out but sunny and not much wind. Shot an 84. First time for me playing with the ground frozen. Definitely wasn't ready for the cart path type bounces on the first few greens I hit. Also gonna need some of those rubber tees that sit on top of the ground.
  17. Thanks for the help guys. I'll give it a shot tomorrow.
  18. I've got two spare stock stiff TFC189 driver shafts from my G25 lying around. I've been contemplating trimming 1" off the butt of one of them just to experiment with. I understand the effects of trimming the shaft to swingweight, etc. My question is what should I use to cut it? Options that I currently own are dremel with cut off wheel, hack saw, or hand saw. Also, should I tape that shaft or anything prior to cutting it? As always, any help is appreciated.
  19. 37/44 - 81 today. Another personal best. Happy but disappointed at the same time. Wind got worse on the back 9 and I let it get to me and made some poor decisions along with a few 3 putts. On the bright side, I figure if I can play decent in 40* weather with 20mph wind then I should be in good shape when spring/summer roll around. I'm thinking that playing through this fall/winter will be beneficial to my game.
  20. Thanks for the great advice Kenny. I've been trying really hard to eliminate thoughts about score throughout my rounds lately. I'm surprised at how difficult it is. I'm playing tomorrow so I'll have my buddy keep score without totaling the front 9 until the end. Now that I feel like I have a somewhat repeatable swing I'll be spending most of my practice time on my short game, which is probably what I should have done from the start.
  21. 41/42 - 83 for me yesterday which is a new personal best. Did have 55 degree weather with no wind which was a help I'm sure. My goal right now is to break 80 by summer. I will make it happen.
