  1. Like I b golfin was saying at the start of this thread . All a guy wants to know is , is the shaft I am buying the real deal or not . Never mind getting fit for a brand new driver at a cost of over $1000 after tax , lots of golfers can’t afford to blow the budget on a driver worth twice the price of the rest of his bag . I have never bought a brand new fitted club or clubs off a fitter . Rather I go to the used golf market where it is quite a bit more economical for some golf budgets. Yes you can get fit into used equipment. Like , does every body buy brand new cars , not really , when you think that as soon as you drive it off the lot you lost 33% of your investment. So a little brand identification is all he is asking for . Ease up boys ! That’s all I have , the only good thing is when you purchase the way I do you learn to do your research , which can be quite tedious sometimes .
  2. Martini with the stop always and the odd martini with an olive after the round !
  3. Was looking for a set of iron heads to install a set of Mitsubishi MMT shafts and ran across some 7 irons coming from the factory with a 28* loft 7 iron . Is this getting out of hand maybe ? What about delofting a 33* 7 iron to 30* ? I am thinking that today’s 7 iron is 30* . Would 3 degrees change make it unplayable as in sole interaction with the turf .
  4. I do own a set of TM Rocketballz with graphite senior shafts , also a set of Ping G30 reshafted with UST MAMIYA Recoil Smac wrap reg flex shafts . A set of Callaway steelhead XR’s reshafted with UST MAMIYA recoil reg flex ( favourite set right now ) . I recently got my hands on a set of PXG pulls , Mitsubishi MMT A flex shafts . So in order to try the MMT shafts I went to our local golf emporium, Caddy Shed , and went through the used bin and found a TM R9 6 iron . I brought it home and promptly inserted the appropriate MMT shaft in it . I then set up my in garage hitting bay with my Voice caddy sc200 and did a comparison of my four 6 irons. It turns out that I hit them all in the low 160 yards except the R9 with the MMT shafts , it went in the mid 150 range . I really liked the look of the R9 at setup and I liked the feel of the shaft too . Well the tinkerer that I am is thinking about maybe hardstepping the MMT’s into a set of R9’s or whatever iron set shows up that I might like . But the next step is putting the 7 iron shaft in the R9 head with an extension to 6 iron length .
  5. Hey you TM people ! What do you consider to be the best set of irons made by TM ?
  6. Has anybody had any experience with hard stepping graphite shafts ? I am considering trying it with a set of ping TFC 419 I soft regular shafts hoping to get them closer to regular . Opinions are all over the map after doing some surfing . Since this is my go to site what do you have boys ?
  7. Go get a Scotty mallet ! Can’t go wrong .
  8. http://www.stbonifacegolfclub.com/ Winnipeg Manitoba Canada , check it out ! Tree lined all throughout but the back nine makes you have your A game ! It’s a walker , generally 3.5 to 3.75 to play 18 at a comfortable pace . Greens are smallish and very deceptive .
  9. I have been using MCC+4 grips for a few years now , I am finding them a little too stiff this year . Regripped top to bottom with GP CP2 wrap feel nice , can’t wait to see how they perform outside .
  10. When a person is installing new shafts and uses a plug on the shaft to prevent glue travelling up the inside of the shaft . The air compresses and forces the shaft out of the head , any tips to prevent this from happening? I would like to keep the plug in play as there is nothing worse than having epoxy break off and rattle around in the shaft .
  11. I had a bag with the same issue , what I thought were full length dividers were not . Turns out they just hang like curtains and when you pull the club the grips grab the curtain and then you have your problem trying to pull the club because you are also pulling up the divider.
  12. Just noticed the names in the who’s on line box are colour coded . What do the colours signify ?
  13. Good day , with all the time we have on our hands these days I have come up with a scenario of golf shaft questions . I am an active 62 year old who’s driver swing speed is definitely going the wrong way . I have stepped up my exercise program looking for a little more core strength and flexibility. Now my question is on the equipment side of things , I am currently playing a Ping G410 Plus , haven’t played too many games with it as I purchased it in late fall , lots of garage bay time though . I currently use a SkyPro , a 3 Bays GSA and a yupitoru GST-5 Gl launch monitor .Between the three of them there is a lot of plus minus accuracy issues but it all boils down to an 85 to 91 mph driver swing speed , closer to the high 80’s. I am using a reg flex driver shaft full length , choking down about 3/4 inch. Would a senior flex shaft cut down 3/4 give me a little more yardage due to a few more miles per hour and still keep accuracy ? Like I said lots of time on my hands . I will be going for winter lessons when we are allowed to due to COVID restrictions . I am hoping the lessons will be a positive in my ongoing quest for golf perfection .
  14. Good day , I was watching golf this evening and the commentator mentioned that one of the golfers had made 200 ‘ of putts on a particular round . Well now , my questions are . How do they measure the putts ? Do they track all the players putts per round ? Thanks for replying in advance.
  15. Well the season is winding down up here in the north and I did a lot of trial and error . Never did come up with a #1 ball , I could play any one of the premium balls and be happy . I guess basic economics kicked in and with all annual sales that the manufacturers have . Titleist is never on sale . Bridgestone sells last years model in the spring for $30 a dozen as compared to $55 . Taylormade and Srixon have 2 for 1 sale on last years model either in the fall or spring . My only complaint was with the Bridgestone yellow high vis is not really high vis as compared to the yellow of Srixon . TM has a good yellow but Srixon is the brightest of the bunch. Well everyone in Spyland stay safe and corona free , I am going to miss my annual month of golf in Orange Beach Alabama . I guess I will be going ice fishing this winter .for my cocktail or through the ice for the fish .
  16. Good day , my name is Sparky , I am a 62 year old retired electrician . I have been golfing for 40 years never more than 20 games a year til I got into my fifties . My game count has been rising steadily, since retiring at age 59 annual game count is approximately 120. After reading the latest articles on which ball to use I am still trying to find my ball . I have a driver swing speed of 90 mph , ball distance is approximately 220 yds. My 7 iron is 75 mph , distance 145. What are all you other older players using these days and why ? I have tried a lot of balls and to tell you the truth any of the premium balls all seem to behave the same . I have been staying with the urethane balls. Oh one other comment during the telecast of the BMW today I heard Azinger suggest that the pros are using two balls in there tournament rounds . A high spin ball on the par threes and possibly some shaft par 4s. A low spin ball on the driver holes . Any truth to that comment ?
  17. Has anyone ever tried to sand down a .370 parallel tip graphite iron shaft to fit into a .355 taper tip iron head ? Or should a guy ream out the .355 taper tip hole to .370 ?
  18. I’m in , just missed 5 birdie putts in my last round maybe some putting feedback is just what I need .
  19. Good day all , heading down to Alabama from Winnipeg , Manitoba, Canada . We are staying in a condo at orange beach and going to be playing GlenLakes golf course the month of February. Has anybody out there played the course ? Orange Beach gets some good write ups for hanging out and having a nice time. Planning on visiting New Orleans on an overnighter , any recommendations ?
  20. What do you call a guy with no arms or legs flying over a fence ? Homer! What do you call a guy with no arms or legs in an electric wheel chair ? Otto ! I would list the clubs I play with but I am like Taylormade and change them far too often !
