  1. I have visited all the sites through the years. Golf WRX is definitely still relevant. I RARELY post on golf WRX even though I have been a member for years because I am afraid it will evolve into some kind of an argument. Looking for an analogy to use.....it is like prison. Golf WRX is a super max prison where I know I will probably get shanked (golf pun intended) and MGS is like one of those minimum security prisons where you get day passes.......

Interesting. One of my (many) faults also, so curious to hear your experience with it as you start using it!

I will update once I have it in my grubby little fingers. I tried the cone drill but all that did was cause me to over exaggerate and my hands and arms drifted too far away in the backswing. This rolling problem causes my main miss so it needs to go. I fully believe that most swing faults are caused by an improper backswing, and I think that is why David Leadbetter (like him or hate him he is controversial to some) said that most golfers would do better setting up in a completed backswing position over the ball and just hitting it from that position.

    Very nice.

So, for the first time in a long time I'm looking out for myself on BF.

First and foremost I'm looking into a new phone. I've had my current one sin e Law School and I'm finally looking at upgrading. Still shopping and researching, as this is likely to be the phone I have until 5g networks become more stable.

Two, a new laptop. True facts, my computer Blue Screened itself out of existence almost 6 months ago and I've been waiting for BF to maybe get a new one. Nothing crazy, just decent storage and performance at a good price.

Three, Pillows! Man do I need new pillows and this is the time.

Four, since my girlfriend and I are looking at moving in together next year if there are deals on homeish things we'll take advantage

Lastly, the only thing I'm considering golf wise is a Flat Cat Solution for my potential new putter for 2019. That's it.

Just saw you are from Fulton. I am ten miles away from you. We should play Battle Island some time.

Black Friday week has only just begun and I'm $500 in the hole already:

    (2) New All Clad Stainless pans

Ceramic Coating that I'm going to put on my car

    3 Dozen Personalized ProV1x

Probably going to buy a new knife as well -- something Japanese!

Wish I would have seen this post a week earlier. My wife and I just sold our 30 piece All Clad set for $500. She got Kitchen Craft because the All Clad stuff was too heavy for her. That All Clad stuff is expensive but it is well made and indestructible.

    Has anyone tried this tool?

    Comments .........pros/cons?

I have this device. My instructor recommended that I get it several years ago.

First of all.  As with any training aid....I feel that ones you can hit balls with are superior. So this one is limited but it does have some benefits.

It does provide feedback of how the arms should feel during the backswing and helps you create width because your arms can’t collapse. Also helps your body and arms to stay in synch.

For me....it definitely helped me get into a repeatable backswing position at the top of the swing....and that was worth its weight in gold so I give it a thumbs up.

I just watched all the videos on their site. Is it just me that cannot see how this is a big benefit to golfers?

I noted in one part he actually hit the short shot slightly fat.

I dont see anyone (in this country) rocking up to the range with this 'girdle' on 🙄

Lol. You are right. No way I would wear this thing in front of people. I would use it on my home net. Much the same as I have never seen someone wear a Swing Jacket. I do think this device has two useful features. I think it stops the inside takeaway...and I think it helps people feel the “Magic Move” of the transition.  However I have not used this device so I could be way off. I was intrigued about it by all the positive praise it has been receiving.....it must be worthwhile at some level.

I preordered my TS Planemate last December and finally got it this week. I’ve been going through the daily protocols and really think this has the potential to help a lot of golfers. I wanted to start a thread to discuss for those who have one and for those who may be on the fence!

Mr Hicksta and others using this device. I have to ask. Does this thing work?  Is your ballstriking better?  I love training aids and I have owned many over the years. Some are better than others. It has always been my feeling....whether it is real or not is up for debate....that the best aids are the ones that you can hit balls with.  Would love to hear from you guys further thoughts.   Thanks in advance.

  8. These are some great posts in this thread. Pre shot routine will save you shots without a doubt. The pre shot routine needs to be the same each time. Mike Bender has a great book about the eight second pre shot routine. The pre shot routine helps me eliminate fear and second guessing. I always likened it to free throws in basketball. Back in the day....it would be the same for each free throw....three bounces of the ball....give it a little spin in my hands...and go. I feel the more robotic you are in this pre shot routine....the more it can save you because it becomes something more automatic and you just let your body take over the swing instead of overthinking the shot and your mechanics. I feel this routine is especially helpful when the pressure is turned up a notch.

Does anyone use or used to use the Skytrak?  I am trying to make sure it's worth getting or if I am going to be "excited" about it and in 2 months it's going to be collecting dust ($2K isn't gonna break the bank but it's still $2k).  I don't get to play as much as I want to, or get to the driving range (kids sports, work, etc.) hence the reason I'm looking into it...trying to be the responsible guy and use my head rather than my emotions.  Currently I have the Net Return Pro and the Country Club mat, so I figured this would be the logical thing as I hit on my back patio but honestly I could just be creating bad habits.  I tried a launch monitor app on the iphone and it was a complete joke with the numbers. Skytrak says they have solid numbers but it would be better to hear from "real" people than a company.  Any feedback would be helpful, thanks in advance!

Without a doubt....one of my best golf purchases ever second only to lessons. When spring starts I am ready to go. I know exactly how far all my clubs go which is huge. I have used it to dial in all my wedge distances.  You already have the net and mat......go for it.

Looks like she had a great time! I used to love going to see the Indians play at Jacob's Field - Jim Thome, CC Sabathia, Bartolo Colon - such a good time.

I went to school in Cleveland. I loved going to Jacobs Field in the nineties and watching those teams they had. They always sold that place out back then.

Dont forget Kenny Lofton....Albert Belle....Omar Vizquel.  Very fun.

You are talking about a 2-3

Club range and depending on how far you hit clubs you are in mid to potentially long iron range.

How to practice, go to the range and focus on hitting specific targets. You need to narrow the dispersion on the clubs you are hitting. Learn what you pattern is for all of you clubs so you can aim at the correct spot.

What are you trying to put the ball on the green? Why are you missing? Poor contact, ball is always long? Ball always short? What is your target? Do you know how wide of a dispersion pattern you have for those clubs and does the green accommodate that pattern?

If you can start answering those questions you can start working on the strategy to hit more greens and do better club selection.

C Nosil nailed it. You need to know your tendencies and play to them. Know where you don’t want to miss and adjust accordingly. On some greens and pin positions based on your tendencies.....40-50 feet away with a putt at birdie is a good shot. Hopefully you know how far you “carry” each club as that makes the above process much easier. I have nothing further to add. Good luck with your quest.

I agree in regards to the ceiling but what determines it? Lots of factors I would think from swing flaws to physical ailments to age to level of athletic giftedness. For that matter life and economic circumstance are factors.

If I had the time, money and desire I could raise that ceiling a bit even at my age - certainly if I were younger but would it be worth it?

    All interesting questions to ponder

Good observations. I believe age and your natural athletic ability including your percentage of fast twitch muscle fibers are the two most important factors that you mentioned.  I would be curious if someone did have unlimited time and resources how much they could theoretically increase their ceiling.

Ooops.  Can you just imagine Dad coming back from his international trip and find out that "the kids garage sale" included some of (perhaps all) of his golf bag arrows...maybe even the bag 😱🤣.  Lots of other plausible explanations as to how a $300+ putter ends up in a thrift store... let's hear your version 🤗.

    Nice find @Targetdrone!!

I am picturing an avid golfer who just broke up with his girlfriend (over the amount of golf he plays of course).....but forgot to get his clubs out of her house prior to the breakup.

Reached the end of level 2 protocol today.  I did a couple of extra weeks of level 2 since I took a break due to some pain in my fingers, break didn't help but I kept moving forward.  Was able to get back to speeds back up to close to where I had been prior to stopping but the last couple of weeks the speeds were down a bit.   Since it was the end of a level,  I did a driver speed test and topped out at 117.

Very nice!  Keep up the good work!
