There has been a lot of excitement about the new Ai-Smoke TD amongst the forum staff. We are yet to see if it will translate to us making purchases ... well one of us already has. However it will be interesting to see how the season progresses with so many drivers available!

lol I couldn’t resist getting it early. So far the AI Smoke appears to be slightly more fade biased than the Paradym but will know more Tuesday night

  2. I can hang with even the best club ho’s out there for sure.  I started the winter sim league with a Ping G430 LST(before public release), a Srixon ZX5 LS, then moved to the Mizuno ST-Z 230. The mizuno started  in the bag when actual golf started for me in Iowa before moving on to the Cobra LTDX 5.5* LD head. The Cobra was easily the longest when hit in the screws.   From there I tested a few different head/shaft combos at my local golf shop before settling on the Paradym TD 8*.

The Paradym TD 8* head has been in the bag since the end of May(longest I have had a driver in the bag since probably 2010).  It has been the most consistent driver in terms of spin/launch/distance. For me it wasn’t the longest or lowest spinning head I hit when trying them but the window for both stayed the tightest.
I started with the Vanquish 5s for a good chunk of the year and it was great. Went back to the OG Ventus Blue 5R(couldn’t test this at first) and it was even better.  Also gave the Hzrdus Gen 4 Limited Edition ion finish 5.5 to end the year. So far this head performs with whatever shaft I throw in it which says a ton about the head in my eyes.

The shape of the Paradym TD is just perfect to my eye.  Slightly smaller profile but not too small.  Ever so slightly triangular to the toe side to give it a small pear shape.  Deep faced which is a must for me as my misses tend to be vertical on the face.

As Jamie mentioned I’m not a huge fan of the color navy so if the Smoke AI can match the shape and numbers of the Paradym, I will most likely move on to that. I doubt it will beat the numbers though as the PTD has been amazing. It has helped me break 70 this year and put together a run of scores that I have never had before.

Set up could not be easier, Mark. You open the FS Golf app, prep your session in the range mode, and press and hold the button on the unit until the blue lights flash. It connects in seconds, and that is not an exaggeration. There is also no initial set up where you need to sync it to your phone's bluetooth, which I think is really nice. Pairs automatically with the app. I used mine on the range today after a baseline session with my deWiz, and it took longer to place it on the ground than it did to sync to the app once I had it on. No need to turn it off shot to shot, either. It'll take a moment to sync once you put it on the ground, and it may turn off if it's idle for too long but shot to shot as far as picking it up, setting it down and waiting for the audible "ready" from the app, I don't see any reason why you couldn't.

This is really good to hear. Thanks

I, for the most part, have had good accuracy with the Mevo. The numbers I have seen with it on the range, particularly with driver, reflect what I see on the course. The biggest thing IMO to keep in mind is that these are personal units. If someone wants 99.99% accuracy, you have no choice but to go a pro route. Some data is better than no data for most individuals and I do truly believe that. From everything I have read and viewed online, the Mevo+ when paired with the RCT style ball is extremely accurate. You're not going to send those down range at a course, but can use them into a net at home either indoors or outdoors. While $70 for a dozen Titleist RCT balls is not cheap, it is cheaper than a $20k Trackman unit.

With any device at the consumer level price, You're going to have some give and take, there's truly just no way around that. Finding the unit that does the most of what you're looking for is the way I view it, and Flightscope really has done a great job with the Mevo range of products.

Thanks for your insight and discussion, and taking time to read the article! I appreciate it!

Question for ya Jason, how easy is the setup?  I tend to play very early morning with nobody on the course until I’m almost done and was thinking about the possibility of setting it up on every shot for a round or 2. You know if I should happen to end up with one lol
