  1. Wow some of those are WAY off. Should play better for you now, if those specs fit you. I always get my lofts and lies checked at the beginning of the season because they're forged and can definitely move around a bit during the year.

  2. I don't game the DF, I play a MEZZ.1 and love it. I started my L.A.B. journey by testing a BLĀD.1 and liked it but wanted more so went with the MEZZ and I don't even look at other putters anymore.

The caveat is that as it's Lie Angle Balanced, it takes some practice before you stop manipulating the clubhead like you do with normal putters. But once you get it, Voilà!

  3. I haven't tucked in my shirt while playing golf since my days working the the pro shop in the summertime. That said, I can't afford to play at a country club so have not ever had to worry about it. But if I had the luck to play such a course, I would gladly abide by their rules.

I have no problem with any club or course setting a dress code because if I don't want to follow it I can choose to play somewhere else. And that is everyone's right as well.

  4. I haven't used a glove during a normal round since the 90s. I figured if Fred Couples could do it ... I didn't see any difference in performance with a glove vs. not wearing one. It may be because I've always played full cord grips, but I don't have any trouble with my grip without a glove. On top of having great feel with all my clubs, it saves money and I don't have to deal with the glove on/off/on thing.

I do have rain gloves for wet weather, but I rarely play in the rain. I also have a pair of regular gloves to wear in winter if it's real cold to start the round.

  5. In the professional world caddies will never be obsolete because players need a security blanket, hand holding, someone to instill confidence, someone to kick them in the ass, a putt reader, a lie reader, a wind reader, a course management guru & on course swing analyst.

I would LOVE to see a silly season tournament with no caddies or caddies being restricted to carrying & cleaning clubs, replacing divots, raking bunkers and pulling/holding the pin.

  6. I was 13 and we were living on a British RAF base in Germany. There was nothing to do but play soccer, which I had no interest in. Our next door neighbors were Scottish and naturally played golf. They invited my dad to play and he like it. After a while he asked if I wanted to caddy for him one day & I did. After two holes I knew this was a game I wanted to play. I was good at stick and ball sports but golf was totally different cause it was just you against the course.

As this was a British course in the early 70's & being a junior player, I wasn't allowed on the course till the pro thought I was good enough. So I took lessons along with a friend once a week. The first time I hit a good shot, that was it - I was hooked. We spent the whole summer taking lessons and hitting balls. Once declared good enough to play we also had to pass a rules and etiquette test. What a thrill to actually play on the course for the first time! From then on it was balls out golf for me. Next fall I joined the high school golf team and we played courses across Germany. We had our regional tournament in Berlin, behind The Wall, and I played in the finals in Luxembourg.

I've been playing for 53 years and never get tired of the game. There's always the motivation to keep learning and trying to improve, good courses to play, fun to be had.

  7. I watch PGA, LPGA & DP World Tour tournaments as much as I can. I'm pretty much as addicted to watching as I am to playing. I guess I feel like I can live vicariously through the players, but mainly it comes down to enjoying their skill and sometimes their mistakes as well. Watching someone stuff it to tap in range from 180 or chip it in from a difficult location gives me as much of a thrill as watching TJ Watt sack a QB.
The other thing I really enjoy is the competition itself and seeing how players react to the pressure of getting in position to win, especially on Sundays, or just having to make the cut. There's always some drama going on whether good or bad.

  8. I used to play a ball till it was on it's last legs, but since I saw the MGS data about the affects of scuffs, scrapes, etc. I switch out after those happen. I've got enough to worry about without thinking I'm making bad swings when it could be the ball that's causing problems.

I don't wear a glove except for early morning winter rounds when it's too cold without so I change gloves once a year basically.

  9. I guess I'm super lucky with the way my golf life started. At 14 years old I wanted to play golf after my Dad started (I was hooked caddying for him after 2 holes!), on a RAF base GC in Germany. Being a British run course, I was required to take lessons from the pro until the time he determined I was able to play on the course. I took weekly lessons and hit balls daily for a whole summer and was able to get on the course in the fall after passing a rules and etiquette test. Best thing that could've happened for me. From that point on I continually took lessons all through Jr High, High School, and beyond. This gave me knowledge of the fundamentals of my swing and my tendencies.

I imagine it would be hard to learn the game if you're chasing a fix daily or weekly on the internet all the time.
