Golf Genius is free if your club uses the USGA GHIN system. There is a premium version that has additional functionality but cost $2,500 per year. Most clubs and leagues do not need the premium version. Our club here at Big Canoe uses Golf Genius for all our tournaments and we have a large league with 110 members who play two times a week with generally 50 per day. The system works great and puts the workload on your Pro Shop staff or you as a league manager can manage it. MD - listen to what PlaidJacket has to say as I also agree 100% with him on this and pretty much all that he posts. He is like my twin brother (;-) There is no reason in the world you could not drop 5-6 strokes provided that you do the following in no particular order 1. Take lessons from a pro you like. He has to fit your style of instruction and does not overload you with too much. Slow and steady wins the race. 2. Get fitted for the correct equipment for your swing. Go to demo days etc or treat yourself to a full fitting - you deserve it right? 3. Practice, practice, practice. BUT practice with a purpose. Do not just hit driver. I have seen best results from 100 yards in practice so your approach wedge club and lower to putter. 4. Learn to love the bunker, not fear it. I personally spend 10-15 minutes every time at the range in the bunker practicing buried lies, etc. We all know the player who cannot get out of the bunker in 3 shots of skulls it out into the lake costing 3-4 strokes. Enough said. 5. Chipping: practice with a vengeance. Does not cost too much in time or energy. 6. Putting: same as 5. 7. see item 2 - get fitted. My brother won a set of clubs at a silent auction which were pro blade type clubs as a 16 handicap. He has been using them for 3 years and losing all sorts of distance and forgiveness because he is not that good for the clubs. To his credit he knows it and will be getting fitted soon for irons more suited to his game. All this to say equipment matched to you really does make a difference. I know there are many on this forum who will disagree with me and buy off the rack without fitting but I do not think they know how much they are missing because they have the wrong equipment. I agree with PlaidJacket that it is nice to see someone not watching the hype leading up to the Super Bowl and focusing on golf Having said that I am a pretty good bunker player, get it on the green 9 out of 10 times BUT half the time two putt from there. This product is intriguing and I must say I may get it to play around with.

Found one yesterday in the woods or should I say "In our club's Golf Ball Exchange Program". We were playing in a scramble and I hit it a few times on those holes where I was not afraid to lose it since there were a few holes where I was the one "To go for it", and we all know how that ends. With the recent discussion on how much these are going for I think my one ball will be worth $25 so I am taking it out of play, polish it up with a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser (which by the way does wonders for scuffed balls), and put it on a shelf and let it gain in value. Sort of like BitCoins. Once they come back on the market I have to actually wonder if I will buy them as I have 9 dozen Pro V1's sitting in the garage. For every 1 I lose I find 2 so I never need to buy any. By the way they played nicely and will be well worth purchasing.

Chipping with lob wedge inside since it is raining all day here in Georgia. Also teaching Amazon Echo Alexa some new swear words when I skull the chip over the net into a wall. I then tell Alexa to order new sheet-rock.

I agree with PlaidJacket, in that lessons are probably the first thing you should try before buying new clubs, unless your clubs are over 5-6 years old. Yes technology does help but if your clubs are less than 5 years old do as PlaidJacket states, see a swing coach, most likely your club pro whom you know and trust and take lessons to establish a basis and then 1/2 hour lessons perhaps monthly to tweak and reinforce what he or she told you to do. One of the best lessons I ever had was an on course lesson where my pro and I went and played 9 holes and we talked about every single stroke from tee, to green including bunkers, chipping and putter. Now that may seem like overload and too much info but this lesson was at the end of the season and he and I had 4-5 lessons through the summer so he was reinforcing what I already knew or corrected bad habits that crept in.

Sort of makes sense but you still need to have a Costco Membership number to sign into their online site, unless I am mistaken, so not "anyone" can order them just members. Correct me if I am wrong please.

Looks like Costco removed the Kirkland Signature ball from their online site an hour ago 1/11/2017 @ 5:30. Not sure what that means in the greater scheme of things but the 2 Costco's here north of Atlanta do not carry them in the store so I was hoping to score them online but looks like that is not possible as of tonight. If anyone has more info please share.

You are right. The winter air is denser, we generally have some wind that is now biting and wrapped up in 3 layers. Going up 2 clubs is hard psychologically so we maybe go up one and swing harder with the topped ball going lord knows where. Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy

Ole gray makes an excellent point. To do a proper shaft fitting you need a facility that has tons of shafts to test. Unfortunately most pro-shops deal with one or two brands such as Titlist or TaylorMade and you are limited by the demo shafts that come with those. I have a friend who went on a min-tour a few years ago and was fortunate enough to have a full fitting for shafts. He spent 3 hours doing a driver fitting and went through about 40-45 different shafts and tested them on a launch monitor. He told me as he went through the process there was one shaft that finally clicked for him. It was a "Holy cr*p this is MY shaft!!". He knew instantly. Of course he was semi-pro with a plus handicap but the point I am making is to get THAT shaft for YOU, you have to spend time, effort and money thus the majority of us settle for stock shafts even if a manufacturer offers other options as we have no clue what is right for us even if the shaft is a uptick for free. I was fortunate enough last year to have a full fitting and found the shaft for my swing but like all of us here wonder if there is something else out there that will improve on what I have. That is why we lurk out on this site - to find that nugget of gold someone else dug up. Ole gray - keep digging and when you get fitted it will be worth it.

Just another day in North Georgia. Temps in the 60*'s and slight drizzle. All four of us found the fairway and I had my only birdie on this gem.

Welcome aboard.I too am fairly new and must say the welcome I got here was wonderful. You will see some great stuff reviewed by regular guys giving as you stated, their observations, but albeit more in depth. Now all we need is Costco to get some more balls in stock so we can get the members here to hit them from all over the world and in all different seasons.
