  1. Haven't made that determination yet. I want to play it again on calmer days. But right now, I could see it in the bag. But it's going up against the CT & Left Dash.
  2. Yeah 149 slope from the blacks? Yikes It's been a while since I've played RNK
  3. Yikes! That sucks man. I have the black Accra shaft in my MEZZ as well. Has me a bit concerned. I would just use a heat gun. Shouldn't be any issue in pulling it I wouldn't believe
  4. Temp was in the mid 40's with some nagging wind, but I put the AVX in play anyway. Performed exceptional! I liked the distance, especially off the irons. I didn't have a very good day with the driver, so I can't say much about that performance. I can probably count on one hand how many good drives I had. But .... into the wind, it stayed nice in low. A few iron shots went further than expected thru the wind, either that or the wind stopped blowing right as I hit it. I love the softer cover now on the AVX Previous iterations had a louder, more audible, click ... this one does not. Hit a number of wedges that flew high & stopped really easily. I played the entire round with one ball & there were hardly any marks on it. So durability is a plus as well. Only one round with it but I'm impressed so far.
  5. I ordered the Left Dash the other day. I should have enough balls now to get me thru the season.
  6. Not the 2.1 but I have the MEZZ Proto. THE best putter I have ever owned. It's a "point & shoot" putter. Pick the line, let the putter do the work, & it starts exactly where you want it to with a true roll. You can't go wrong with any of the LAB putters. The tech really does work. It makes you realize that you can or cannot read greens, that's for sure. Realize that it's the Wizard & not the Wand real quick
  7. New driver. Heads have faster ball speeds nowadays, plus are more forgiving. my .02
  8. It was fun! Thanks for the selection this go round. Will be doing some testing vs the AVX finally this weekend. Will continue to add comments
  9. Welcome to the DMV & MGS forum! You will love it here
  10. My next round out I will be comparing the CT to the new AVX. But as of now, the CT is a very good contender on replacing the ProV1 as my gamer for '24. I really like how it performs so far, especially off the irons & tee box. The less spin off the tee I think gives me confidence that my miss is not going to be off the map. Plus my solid shots will have plenty of distance & height. That's one thing I really do like is the flight window of this ball ... it really goes where I want it to, if that makes sense. When I look up after contact, I can tell where the ball is going to be. Especially with these old eyes, that have a hard time tracking it. I"ll post results after I have a chance to compare it to the AVX. I won't be able to get out this weekend though because I have a beach house to take care of, getting ready for the spring. I can play bad at golf & be pi**ed off but I can be bad at fishing, I never be mad afterwards. It's just a relaxing, stress free time on the water that I sometimes need to get away.
  11. I mean c'mon ... we never heard of a winner, did we? Means it could still be open for entries
  12. Depends on your stroke. I would recommend getting fit for it
  13. So I was lucky enough to go on vacation (it's been over 4 years for the wife & I) Just got back from Hilton Head Island tonight. She was nice enough to allow me to play some golf at courses I've never played before. Nicklaus Golden Bear Club at Indigo Run, Palmetto Dunes Fazio course at the Plantation & the creme de la creme, Harbour Town, where the pro's play. It was great to play courses that are in such good shape, especially the greens. I haven't played courses like that since college years ago. It was a great time for me to get in more play with the CT/CTX balls. I'll only go over quickly the short game & putting. These were the areas that I believed were going to show the greatest improvement in the data vs the long game. I was correct. The short game: both balls performed exceptionally well. Watching both balls back up & spin on amazing fast greens was really fun to watch. Especially because I don't normally do such a shot anymore. Pays to see the difference in playing different green surfaces. The X spun actually Too much, believe it or not. I couldn't control it. After I realized that it was going to do that more often than not, I had to start throwing it passed the hole, expecting it to back up. The Tour ball performed great. I could get that ball to drop & stop like my normal gamer. It was easy to control around the greens, with expected spin & predictable rollout when necessary. Putting: I excelled with the LAB MEZZ putter on these amazing greens! Watching the 3 lines roll end over end, so pure, with perfect pace was a sight to see for me. It's been a while since I've had that confidence with the putter. It makes so much of a difference when you're putting true, well-manicured, greens. It made me remember that I used to be a good putter back in the day. I would say that all three courses were stimping around 12 or so. I love fast greens (when I get the speed down anyway) I had 28 putts 2 days & 27 the last day. Now those are great putting rounds for me regardless. (we won't talk about the rest of my game but just remember, you can still score if you have a good short game) edit ... will post a few photos of the courses later.
  14. I thought being a DTC of putters & that being something "new" to the consumer, that they might start on the low end of the price range. That may get more traction & more interest. Once that happens, raise the price a bit. But I'm sure there are reasons not made publicly of why the high cost .... price of manufacturing, etc.
  15. Nicely done! DTC putters? Never thought that would be a thing until now. That price tag though .... Yikes! I'd be hard pressed to pay that much, unless it made everything I looked at. But we all know it's the Indian & not the Arrow. At least for $20 you can decide which Arrow
  16. Wow that's crazy. I figured it would be opposite. what do I know?
  17. CALLAWAY WHITE BOX TESTING - OFFICIAL MGS FORUM REVIEW BY GOLFINNUT First Impressions: The balls were in a nondescript white box with unmarked white sleeve boxes inside. "Guess what's inside?" I was surprised to see two sleeves each ... Chrome Tour ( CT) and Chrome Tour X (CTX) balls. I ended up putting an "X" at the top of each sleeve so I knew which ball was which. Aesthetics: Bright white, with the red/blue triple track alignment markings. The markings are very sharp & high quality. I like the placement of the number above the name. Seemed to be like any other Callaway ball otherwise. CT & CTX: 10/10 Off the tee: Loved the sound & the trajectory of the CT. Had a lower flight ... a more piercing trajectory than the X, When hit into the wind, the CTX spun way too much for me & would end up off the map if I didn't hit it square on the face. Neither ball had any loss of distance though. They have all been carrying about the same & plugging or barely rolling out of the ball mark. All of the courses I've played with these it's been really wet & soggy, so there was absolutely no roll. CT was consistently the longer of the two, comparing to the Pro Vs and AVXs that I usually play. The sound off the CTX was noticeably louder to me. I like the more muted sound to the CT. Muted, but not soft, if that makes sense. Just a great feel & compression. CT: 9/10 CTX: 7/10 Approach: The CT & CTX really excelled in this area. Very high trajectory & balls just stuck or rolled back (CTX) The CTX was the most affected by the wind. It seemed to balloon in the air & would come up short most of the time. Great sound & compression felt by both balls off the irons, with the CT feeling overall the better of the two. CT: 8/10 CTX: 7/10 Around the green: Chips & pitches were easily controlled. I could anticipate how much the ball would sit or roll out after a few practice sessions. The stopping ability was better with the CTX. Clearly more spin, that's for sure. CT & CTX: 9/10 Putting: Easy to hold the lines after a target was established with the Triple Track design. I would cover over the middle line because I prefer darker colors for the track lines. Don't ask why. The Triple Track really helps to see if you've hit the ball square, rolling end over end. I think it's helped me overall in my putting stroke. I got used to the feel fairly quickly, especially the CT. (this feels so similar to the ProV1). Dropping both balls down blindly , I really couldn't tell the difference on the feel or impact. CT & CTX: 9/10 Like or Dislike: If they can make a ball that conforms between the two, they would be golden! I love the trajectory of the CT but hate it off the CTX. It just spins way too much for me. If I had more clubhead speed, it might be different. I like the control I can get with the short irons & pitches & chips. Once I got my yardages down, I could just fire at pins all day & not worry about it bouncing over. It would just sit & stop on a dime. Improvement?: As far as scoring went, I did make a few more putts than usual. Dunno why? Score: CT 8/10, CTX 6/10 Good, bad and in between: The flight of the CT fits right in my minds eye (flight window) & goes a long way with very little side to side spin off the tee. Responsiveness were all good, with the CTX taking the lead with the spin category, especially with the short clubs around the greens. Durability of the balls were excellent, just as long as you don't hit the cart path. The only negative I came up with was just with the durability of each. Not enough really to effect play much, but it's just a noticeable picky thing with me, especially when putting. I'll take it out of play if it gets too bad. CT & CTX Score: 18/20 Play or Trade: I found these to be a good alternative than the ProV1 - this version of Callaway balls is much better than models I have played in the past. I could play them for sure, especially the CT. Score: 19/20 Conclusions: I liked the CT better of the two, based on the better distance, flight and the lack of side spin. I felt I could control the CT better, and it gave me more confidence to swing under control with the that ball vs the CTX. I always felt I was going to hit it off the map when I knew it was the CTX. Final score: Chrome Tour 91/100, Chrome Tour X 85/100
