  1. I have the G410 3 wood and I would love to upgrade with a stealth or a 430.
  2. I agree with almost all of these wish list items. Need to be able to call out if you missed green and sitting on fringe so would be a chip. Also need to be able to declare punch and chips if you’re working to miss obstructions. Being able to export data. Where do you commonly miss with each club short long left right etc. also if you hit a tree with any shot. I hit a 220 yard drive because I hit a tree so should be counted as an outlier.
  3. I currently carry 4. I have pw, gap, 56, and 60. I like this set up but I’ve upgrade all my wedges.
  4. I have a net and hitting mat out my back door which has better helped me get in swings more consistently. I had a lesson Saturday and I worked getting the club a little further inside on my takeaway rather than when I was back and upright. I was also to close to the ball so working to get away from it. Also, I have been working at quieting my lower body. I had way to much movement throwing off my timing.
  5. I played the srixon diamond too and didn’t like the results. I have been playing the Titleist prov1 to better keep things consistent. I have stopped trying to play multiple balls. If I can keep my ball consistent it’s one less thing I have to worry about.
  6. I game a Scotty Cameron Super Select 2.5+. After having it for a while I feel as if the putters too heavy. I’d like the straight neck shaft but into a bone wide back head. Idk if they make it tbh. I’ve been eyeing the Lab putters but that’s a tougher sell as the look is atrocious in a lot of aspects. Feel seems to be good and I like the concept. Also, seeing a lot of pros game without paying for it speaks volumes too. They may be getting paid but idk.
  7. No drills per say. Just more of a pre take away check to insure I’m not taking it to far on the inside or outside. I was initially taking it to far on the inside last year and he fixed that but through the year it went to far in the opposite direction to taking it to far outside on the takeaway. Like I said he did give the feel of try to keep your back longer facing at the target. No real other drills. I have been practicing more hitting into a net at my house and working at feeling like my head is stuck on a wall on the back swing and down swing. Also keeping the chest more down through the down swing to avoid early extension. Then I end up getting stuck and hitting it fat behind the ball. Almost like a darned if I do darned if I don’t. I do want to say thank you for taking the time to respond to these. Especially since it sounds like a bunch of whining and complaining over shooting 82 when a lot of golfers would love to shoot that. I will say it’s gotten to a point where I considered why playing and wasting the time when I’m just going to be disappointed in the results. I could have spent that 5 hours playing with my boys.
  8. Instructor told me I was taking the club way to much out in my takeaway. He also stated I needed to work on keeping my back to the target longer. For whatever reason when I get in the course my mind forgets all the things I learned and try to remember during my practice sessions. Everything becomes a jumbled mess. Oddly enough while chatting I just thought about the back to the ball piece and want to go try it at the range. I seem to hit the ball well on the range but doesn’t translate to the course much. my practice sessions are starting out with knock down wedges. I rarely swing a full wedge. I try and flight everything. I try not to get over 3/4. Basically hands don’t go past my chest. I’m working at landing balls 10 yards in front and behind different flags depending on the distance. Trying to hit everything from 40-120. Then go to 9, 7, 5, 3 hybrid, couple 3 woods and driver. I like to finish by hitting wedges. I predominantly hit most of the balls with wedges 9 and 7. I rarely try and work the irons. Although I know how I don’t want to right now since I’m just trying to be consistent at one flight. I prefer a straight ball flight or a slight cut. I don’t care to draw it. tips for early extension?
  9. So after more Arccos rounds my problem areas are attached in a screenshot. Middle of the fairway approach, 100-150, and par 3 shots. I will say I struggle with 50 and in too. issues with putting are speed control and a consistent strike. I feel like I hit it off the toe a lot. I feel like I can read greens and can put it on line but speed control blows. Obviously, consistency in strike kills speed control. I was fitted for the edel but fell out of love with her. I like a lighter putter which is why I like the ping zing. I hate the feel tho. It feels like I’m hitting a piece of wood. I love the feel of the Scotty but hate the weighted. I should have aimed to get the super select 2. I’m going to take the Scotty to the nearest pga superstore to work out if I can another grip and adjust the counter weight. Might see if there’s a way to better fit the Scotty for the issues with swing, it’s inconsistent strike. I get a lot of what I feel are toey chunks. Toe shots are my predominant miss. I thought I was a good ball striker but Arccos has really shown my issues. Ultimately, I want to be better and be much more consistent. I’ve had a round of 75 at a course I’ve never played. I also had a 34 -2 in a 9 hole member guest round. The swings in score are frustrating bc I feel like I’m better but results aren’t showing.
  10. Hello mygolfspy community. I’m looking for some guidance or advice. The last couple of weeks I have been preparing for a member guest. I even got two lessons during this time frame too. I’ve put in a lot of time and effort to improve. Ultimately, I’m just not seeing the results on the course. This seems to happen to me almost every year. I want to be good at golf and shoot lower scores, but it doesn’t seem to come. For whatever reason I shoot better scores during the early part of the season than I do at the end. I’m sure it has to do with putting more pressure on myself and having higher expectations. It just sucks and makes me think why bother. I just got Arccos to help me better understand where I’m dropping strokes. I’m only four rounds in. I’m just not sure where to go or what to do. Some problem areas are that I’m a constant tinkerer. I’m always playing with my swing. I do feel like I’m at a point with my swing where this is what I want to be. I’ve had 5 putters within the last year (not an exaggeration). I had an edel for 8 years. I got an odyssey triple track wide, Ping zing 2, Scotty super select 2.5+, and a bullseye (yes, you read that right). The last one was a grasping at straws to clear out the noise and get back to aim small miss small. Even with the tiny face and sweet spot. I’m just tired of going out there and shooting 82’s. Yes, I know some people would die to shoot 82. Any advice or input would be great bc I’m searching.
  11. I have had my Edel E-3 for over 5 years now and I love it. Being fit for a club you’ll hit over 35%+ of the time per round is never a bad thing. To me, their fitting process is second to none.
  12. Update on this. I just put the grip on my 56 degree. I felt great hitting full shots, half shots, and chips. It really felt comfortable.
  13. I've purchased 3. Planning on putting one on my Driver, 7 iron, and my 52. Excited to see how it feels.
  14. I wasn't 100% where this topic fit so I apologize if this isn't the right area. I'm interested in testing out the JumboMax grips. I wear the XL gloves and have always felt like Midsize grips lacking a little for me. Does anyone have these? Thoughts on the matter would be greatly appreciative. I'm constantly tinkering looking for the best next thing to help improve my game.
  15. I've been practicing on a nightly basis putting on a 48" metal measuring stick. I'm working on keeping the ball rolling on the stick and not falling off side to side. I know if the putt was off based on the roll. The stick is flat too. Just in case someone asks. I've had a large problem putting the ball on line so getting a consistent stroke has really helped.
  16. I just bought the G410 LST in July. This news is kind of frustrating to me. I feel like Ping has always been a bit slower with their roll outs. Kind of makes me think I'm missing out on some great new tech.
  17. How long have you been playing golf? What’s your handicap or normal score? I have been playing golf for about 29 years. I got started with my dad when I was about 5. I got more heavily involved in golf around age 11. My dad would drop me off at my local course and I would play all day with my friends. Was nice when the course offered a youth membership for $100. My average score is around 76 at the par 70 course I play at. What do you love about golf? I love the challenge of golf. There's no mastering it. There's always something to work on to strive and get better. I also love tinkering and love hitting new clubs to feel the difference between my clubs and someone else's. What brings you to MyGolfSpy? Do you already know any other Spies? I enjoy the forums. Helping others with some knowledge I may have and vice versa. Like I answered in the previous message, there's always room for improvement. There's a vast array of different golfers that have been through similar challenges I might be going through at the time. Post a question and you can easily get multiple suggestions and tips for things to work on. I don't know any other spies. Where are you from? What is your home course? I'm from Muncie, Indiana (home of Ball State University) I play regularly at Delaware Country Club and The Player's Club. Both are good courses that offer different ways to golf. Both challenging in their own rite. What are the best and worst things about golf in your region? The weather sucks in Indiana. Plan and simple. Your golf season only runs from April-Oct, which is a long time, but not enough in my mind. What do you do for a living? I work for a large insurance company as an analyst. How’d you pick your user name? My first and last name with my football # from college.
  18. I'm always down for interesting new contraptions that will help my golf game. Thanks for the info.
  19. I had a fitting for driver shafts a month ago. The fitter said we can't really optimize the shaft until you fix your swing. I was hitting down on the ball more than I should imparting back spin. I wish I would have went to the local PGA pro I see on occasion to look at my swing first to make sure everything is in good order. As soon as the fitting was done, I immediately texted the Pro and asked for a lesson. My swing is getting better. I feel like now, I could optimize the shafts more had I gone after. Get the lessons first, then go for the upgraded sticks.
  20. I put some of the tips to use and my wedge strikes were definitely more consistent. I'm still working on keeping my head level through the strike. This is honestly a problem for a lot of my swings. I know being "handsie" isn't good for my swing. The suggestion of watching Martin Chuck's video was good. I know the chest should be a driver in the swing because it should leave you to the target. I just need to figure it out and put it all together. I'm sure some are saying you have a low handicap, why are you complaining. Well that's just my thought process. I'm always tinkering trying to figure out my swing to get better. It's very frustrating hitting as many fairways as I do, with the distance I have only to throw away the strokes so easily.
  21. Thank you for the video. I actually worked on it some tonight with just swinging the club, no balls. I have a scramble tomorrow and I'll definitely be putting this into practice there. I can easily switch between swings without totally screwing my swing up. I'll let you know how it goes. Fingers crossed.
  22. I can typically drive the ball pretty well usually leaving myself in between 40-125 into most holes. I struggle Woefully from these distances. My typical miss is a chunk, but I'm also excellent at thinning wedges across the green. I used to dig trenches when I hit wedges. I'm talking like full beaver pelt divots. I've gotten a little better in the last month shallowing my swing more. I understand having tour level wedges isn't in the cards, but I'm looking for serviceable wedges to potentially score better. I normally average around 1 or 2 birdies a round which sucks compared to how far I can hit a driver. I'm 6' 6" which probably goes into why I can get steep. To give a frame of reference if you're going to provide input, I've been working on set up as of late. I'm trying to stand more upright with my chest and my butt out. I'm trying to keep this position throughout the swing. I've heard about swing more with arms and hands and keeping the rest of my body still. I've also seen and heard matching the arms with the body and the hips leading the swing. I probably has so many damn thoughts going on that I'm bound and determined to F up the wedge swing no matter what I do. Any drills, tips, or guidance would be greatly appreciative as I'm struggling for consistency.
  23. if you dream it, you can do it???? Is that a good catchy phrase to drop your handicap. Sarcasm of course. The above tips and drills are excellent things to concentrate on. I have realized in my own game that Golf is a marathon not a sprint. We all strive for perfection, only to be disappointed. Just remember to have fun.
  24. I put it as a statement for some help, not a silver bullet fix. I even stated it might be an oversimplification. It's a place to start. I too have gone through an Edel fitting and agree it's really thorough.
  25. Dave Edel from Edel Putters has a podcast out that talks about different things concerning putting and putters in general. It's a pretty good listen. During one of the episodes, he talked about the best drill to do for putting. He mentioned simply putting a string down, standing 15 feet away and consistently hitting the ball on the string will make your putting significantly better... It seems like an over simplification, but if you can consistently hit your distance aim will come, maybe is the thinking. Either way, it's a cheap and easy drill that can be done.
