  1. Just think about how many times you are at the local muni and you see some hack getting upset every time they miss an 10 foot putt. Meanwhile, the average player on the PGA Tour makes only 52% of their 8 footers. Under 20% for 15-20 footers. Yet the guy that golfs two or three times a month and never practices has an expectation that he should make a 10 footer almost every time
  2. How much money are we talking here? And I just want to say that nothing can derail fun and a developing swing more than an ill-fitting set of irons.
  3. Wish I could like this post 20 times. Mindset and attitude are so integral to both playing well and enjoying golf
  4. Listen, not everyone can play golf on the set of The Sound of Music
  5. The key, especially on the upper body, is layers. So many times I am teeing off when it is 40 degrees and it's in the upper 50's by the time I hit the turn. Need to be prepared to shed some layers to stay comfortable
  6. I prefer a plumbers neck, but my ER2 is single bend and fits my stroke well. For me it is all about performance. As @cnosil mentioned above, anything face balanced is a non-starter. I cannot control the face at all with a face-balanced putter. I like short slants, but have found that they only perform well for me when they mesh well with the head shape in terms of toe hand and COG location. I was all in on the Scotty Phantom 5.5 with the slant neck and once I got it I could not hit a putt to save my life. Just goes to show how important fitting is as there is no one size fits all solution and you need to find the right combination of shaft, insertion point, head style/CG location in order to maintain a consistent path and closure rate.
  7. What's that? I am a big Mizuno guy and have never heard of it. How does one get it?
  8. Is your profile pic from your victory? That's awesome. Nice work @Golfspy_TCB!
  9. I am a big fan of the Under Armour ColdGear golf pants. I have two pairs (black and grey) and they are my go to pants once the daily highs get below 50 degrees. They are warm on their own, but also cut a bit looser to allow for a layer underneath for those really cold days. They do really will with water and wind.
  10. https://mygolfspy.com/2022-pxg-0211-drivers-fairway-woods-and-hybrids/ PXG has introduced a new line of 0211 metalwoods. The new products offer value pricing without cutting corners on quality. List price for the driver is $299 ($219 at launch). Fairways and hybrids are $249 ($169 and $149, respectively, at launch). All available now
  11. Will likely do some light speed training with my Rypstick so I come out of the gates with my normal speed rather than starting the season 3-5mph slower than I usually am and then building the speed back up in late spring. Other than that, just plenty of putting on my basement green as per the usual.
  12. Glad I could help. Here are some youtube videos that could be of assistance, too Wedges, even more so than irons, are subject to wear due to the variety of crappy lies you use the from (sand, waste area, etc). Here is video that shows the differences between worn and new wedges. Different clubs, but same type of conclusions could be made about irons:
  13. To help answer the second part of your question, I wouldn't be concerned with any sort of numbers. Focus on the performance. Have your noticed a change in distance control? Have you been getting more fliers that jump off the face with less spin? That is when you should look at a new set, as those are telltale signs of your grooves wearing. One way to double check is to book a fitting or get some time on a GC2 or GCQuad. Hit your irons and take a look at the numbers and look at launch and spin deviation from shot to shot. Then, hit a newer iron and see if that spin/launch is tighter. If there is a noticeable difference, it is time for new irons.
  14. I've had my current set for over 3 years now, which is the longest I've had a set of irons in about 10 years. I was fit for my irons by True Spec in June 2019 and they fit my like a glove. I don't play or practice often enough to have worn the faces so they are still in the bag. I plan on getting my next set of irons in Summer of 2024 for my 40th birthday. Will be fit again and will likely go with graphite shafts.
  15. Great stuff! With the Link, clip it to to your front pocket so the device is on the outside and the clip is inside your pocket. I found the belt location isn't as reliable, especially if you are wearing a loose fitting shirt or outer layer that rubs against or covers the device.

  18. One of the first skills we look for in a tester is reading comprehension
  19. I mean the Australia thing I get - it is their spring. I don't get staggered releases in the same hemisphere
