Play it again later in the season, when the fescue is not cut down. That, and when the wind blows, is when this course has some challenge.
Yup, have played it with the fescue up. On the day we played it was 20MPH winds with 35MPH gusts. It was BRUTAL haha

Hello,
My name is Peter. I have been playing golf for most of my life, and have been running a 9 hole golf league in western NJ for about 15 years now. I also play golf at my local course as often as possible.
How long have you been playing golf? What’s your handicap or normal score?
I started playing when I was a teenager, but only a few times at a local course that my parents joined to play with their friends. Probably only played about 5-6 times until I finished college and started working. I played about 1-2 times per month with some friends from work until I had a young family and also started commuting to NYC for work. That killed my golf opportunities. I started playing more often about 20 years ago, and have been playing a lot now that I am retired. My handicap fluctuates in the mid-single digits. I currently hold a 7.5 index.
What do you love about golf?
The big attraction for me is that golf always challenges me to do better. As soon as I seem to be playing very well, it decides to show me who is really the boss, and I hit it fat, thin, or other worse shot!
I also have met many great people and have made close friends while golfing. What brings you to MyGolfSpy? Do you already know any other Spies?
I have been following MyGolfSpy for many years now, and use the information here to get insight into equipment and read what other golfers like me are experiencing. I think this is one of the best sources of golf information.
Where are you from? What is your home course?
I live int the Clinton NJ area. My home course is High Bridge Hills Golf Course. I also run a 9 hole weekly golf league at The Architects Golf Club in Phillipsburg NJ.
What are the best and worst things about golf in your region?
Best things: Plenty of Golf Courses to play.
Worst things: Winter can limit the golf opportunities, but there are courses that remain open and playable as long as Ice and Snow aren't covering the course.
What do you do for a living?
I am recently retired. I was an IT developer/architect.
Played High Bridge Hills a little over three weeks ago. Really fun course

Somewhat related, I’m a mid flight low spin golfer typically (6.7 cap) so have tried playing ProV1X and the numbers look great on my GC3, yet on the course I almost always play better with ProV1.
Anyone else have this where your on-course play is better with a ball that you shouldn't necessarily be playing?
Launch monitors can't simulate areodynamics. Dimple pattern is different, which will lead to different real world performance

Greetings from Somerset County NJ
1. Started playing in my mid-forties and played maybe a dozen rounds per year until retiring. No handicap officially established but Arccos estimates it to be 22+. Normally shoot in the low 90s
2. Mind-body kinda zen aspect. Yeah, I know it’s a little frufru, but I take my transcendental experience where I can get it
3. Found out about MGS years ago and appreciate the unbiased information. Don’t know if I know any other spies
4. Somerset County NJ. Play the county courses. No home course
5. The weather qualifies for both answers
6. Retired
7. From Jim Mora
Grew up playing the Somerset County courses. Worked at Mattawang many years ago when I was in high school.
Haven't played spooky or quail in awhile. Gotta get on those courses this season for pure nostalgic purposes

I agree, my other driver was cut down I was just trying full length on the new 430 for a while, 1 inch is my starting point and the heavier grip should counter the shaft being cut IF IF IF I understand how that works, If not I will change the weight in the head to something heavier.
Official OEM Ping weights are sold through Golfworks.com

Worth it from a feel/sound standpoint alone. Going from one of the worst sound drivers in the last 10 years to one of the best

~ 44 inches. My current gamer plays ~ 45.
Might be worth a shot at 44 before you alter it in any way

1 inch is about the max length you'd want to add to a graphite shaft.
What is the playing length of the new shaft?

Awesome project. I always say I’ll do this when my boys get older. Part of is it because I really love lawn care so it would check the box on two of my favorite hobbies

Speaking of that 1963 PGA Championship, Nicklaus won it. He often overpowered courses much in the same way today’s longest hitters do, and he did so that week. Here is Sports Illustrated’s description of the performance, one that could be copied, pasted and published in 2020 without anyone knowing how long ago it was written.
“He rarely had to take anything out of his golf bag but his driver, wedge, putter and towel. … Meanwhile, just about everybody else, including [Dick] Hart and [Shelley] Mayfield, was wilting in the heat like a yellow rose of somewhere.”

Graphite shafts seem to help a lot of people with chronic wrist and elbow issues. Graphite acts as a shock absorber while steel transfers more of the energy from striking the ground up through the hands and into the arms
-
If you know what lie angle you need, then there's no issue bending the club head before installing the shaft

Somebody didn’t waste time. Got two emails from online web shops with the headline:
LOYALTY REWARDED: Buy 3 dozen Titleist golf balls, get a dozen free.
I wonder if it’ll be a banner month for golf ball makers.
Titleist always runs their by 3 get 1 free promotion in March. They didn't last year due to supply chain issues

For me the course wouldn't matter, only the company.
Hoping, many years down the line, my last one is with my two sons

I can understand that sentiment. The conditions are rarely if ever up to my preferred standards. I really wish they would invest in better drainage and redesign the short par 3 on the front nine with the swampy tee box.
That being said, the cost to ride a cart at twilight is half the cost at most other courses. So that's what keeps this one in my rotation. If I'm paying for speed golf afternoon to sunset where I might not finish 18, I prefer not to drop $40-60 plus tax/tolls or more that nicer courses are getting.
Yeah me beinng in county for Mercer county and only 5 minutes from Mercer Oaks is a godsend. $31 to walk on weekend mornings

Agree, the only caveat is that the super game improvement clubs will generally flight the ball higher by design. They say to really be a great ball striker you need to be able to hit nine different shots on demand. A High, a mid and a low trajectory fade, draw and straight shot. Having the skill backed with the equipment that allows for this action within your individual skill level is the key.
Most people that fit into GI and SGI clubs need all the help they can get helping the ball in the air. The amount of amateurs that think they hit the ball too high when in reality they hit it too low is extremely high
I get what you're saying about having more shots at your disposal, but most amateur golfers with double digit handicaps can't groove one consistent swing, much less 9

It's a absolute myth that GI and SGI irons can't work the ball.
It's all physics (face to path relationship)

Noticed today Gambler Ridge is advertising a Monday 2 person and Thursday individual Twilight league season. 9 holes walking I think $16 per week plus $50 for individual $90 for team of 2 league fee.
Not sure if I'll do it, but figured I'd share with those who are relatively local here in case there's interest.
Played Gamblers for the first time a few years ago. I don't know if any amount of convincing could get me to pay money to play there again

All I'll say is how would you feel if your sister/daughter lived with, and was committed to, Tiger for 6 years and one day was tricked and left at an airport like that?
Sure, wouldn’t feel great. But we have no idea what her behavior was and her role in this. I’m not trying to victim shame, but reacting to one side of the story without other details is pointless.
At this point, people already have their mind made up one way or another about Tiger and no amount of new information or discussion is going to change those opinionsMy brother just got out of an awful relationship. We thought his gf was incredible but under the surface she was accusatory, manipulative, and vindictive. We had no idea how toxic she was to him behind closed doors. She lived with him and it 2 months to convince her to move out and even then she has still been trying to mess with his life

Why is it a joke if their warranty doesn't cover water damage and water damage is what is causing your slope and vibrate to not work?
