There are shaft profiles (high bend point) that "could" help in flattening your fight.

Along with the reasons you give, I'm not a big wood fan...Love Irons, so I would look to the 2 iron. Utilize my 3 iron off the tee for most par 4's under 380 or so, unless their near reachable with Driver.
