  1. Here in search of opinions.
My current Driver is Callaway Big Bertha 815 Alpha with X-Stiff shaft out of a Callaway XR. Overall it still “works” for me but it’s definitely showing its age and I can’t help but think there is something out there that would be more forgiving and still add distance.

I’ve been thinking about Ping 430max or possibly going back to the 400 that was so good a few years ago.

  2. I’ve been playing the Oncore Elixir Ball for a couple years now. Being originally from Buffalo where the company is based out of, it was a little bit of the “buy local” mentality. However, after the reviews and numbers came out confirming its good performance compared to main brands I decided to stick with it.

The company has since come out with a few new models meant for a little faster swing speed and I look forward to trying those out once my current reserve runs out.

  3. Played a nice Executive course today with my Grandparents as their first time out for the year. Just nine holes but it was very relaxed we played rather quickly for a 3-some. I played well at +4 with only 3 “bad” shots. Two of which can be attributed to me not paying attention.
All in all I would say I had a good round and ball striking with the new swing changes is really starting the click!

Hope Everyone is getting out and Staying Safe!

  4.  Hi,

I've been playing golf for about 15 years now. It happened by accident as I never thought I would be this addicted to the game. Not to mention waste a Saturday and Sunday afternoon watching some one else play the game. Now it is all I want to do with my free time.

What I love about golf is the rollercoater of emotions it puts you through as you can easily go from king of the course to course jester in the time at it takes walk from one green to the next tee box. You always have to stay focused as it is never mastered.   I have also met many new people on the course who have become of course friends as well. No nicer group of strangers than fellow golfers

I am from Buffalo NY and spend a lot of time at Cazenovia Golf Course  and Hyde Park Golf Club in Niagara Falls. I also get out to about a dozen different courses throughout the summer. I always enjoy playing a new course for the first time

The weather in this area makes for a short season for most, but me and a friend have found ourselves out there looking for balls in the snow more than once.

Being an over the road truck driver limits the time s I have to play so getting out any chance I am home is greatly appreciated. I do carry a set of clubs in my truck and have played at many out of my home area courses on many occasions.

my user name comes from back before I ever thought of golfing and owned my own rig which was a purple International Eagle.

I used to work a Cazenovia Park Golf Course for 5 years during college, I’m sure we’ve crossed paths before. Good to see more Buffalo guys on here.

  5. Hi,  at 57 with three boys under the age of 6, I am all in on strength and conditioning for golf and life.  Did you do the TPI Certification?  I am working to get my trainer to get certified.  I was in an accident a couple years ago that knocked my L4-L5 out of wack, so we do a 30 minute stretching routine after workouts to help maintain mobility, etc.

I did my certification through the NASM golf fitness program just because I was also taking my Certified Personal Trainer certification through them as well, but from what I’ve seen of the two programs they are extremely similar with a lot of the differences being in the wording and references they use.

  6. I been playing golf consistently for about 4 years after my grandfather first taught me how to play when I was little. My current handicap is 14 and I would love to see that drop to 10 by the end of this year.

I love the challenge it presents with the balance of precision and power but also the camaraderie between fellow golfers

I originally can to MGS to gain a greater understanding behind the game and maybe catch a few tips to help lower my scores and further enjoy the game. Sadly I don’t really know any other Spies.

I’m from Buffalo NY, and play many different places. Usually between Attica CC and Cazenovia Park GC for my home courses.

My trade is strength and conditioning, mainly for athletes but I also work with kids and adults. I recently finished a certification in Golf Fitness that I’m start to apply in my own workouts and seeing some great results.

My username is nothing fancy, just my name and some numbers but it’s always been the same.

P.S. I would love to meet some of you and play a couple rounds if at all possible. Love playing new courses with good people.

  7. Yesterday was 50 and calm in western New York. It also marked the first day this year I got out on the local municipal course and hit off of real grass. Only got to play 5 holes but it was enough to get a sense of real golf after hitting off of Turf indoors all winter. Hopefully the full season is just around the corner!

  8. Recently got my handicap down to 14 from 24 and my current irons (Wilson Di-11) don’t really suit my game anymore.
I’ve been thinking about ordering a set of Ben Hogan PTx irons with similar loft numbers to the Wilson in order to maintain most of the distance but gain a lot more feel and workability.
    Please send your thoughts

  9. Played yesterday for the first time at a new track in the area and it started out really rough. As the round went on things started to come together. On 17, par 3 190yrds into wind I hit a beautiful pure 4 iron with a tiny draw to about 10 feet. It wasn't super close but it was exactly the shot I wanted to hit and it gave me a lot of confidence for the rounds to come.
